Zwei Zwillingsschwestern performen Bonnie Tylers Total
Eclipse of the Heart. Die Anspielung des Songtitels auf das
Weltall setzt sich im kurzen Film von Céline Trouillet sowohl visuell als auch symbolisch fort. Sichtbar als Hintergrundstoff, vor dem die Mädchen ihren Gesang darbieten,
symbolisch darin, dass der Zwilling auch eine Sternenkonstellation ist. Ganz im Widerspruch zur unendlichen Weite
des Weltalls wiederum steht die innere Gefühlslandschaft
der Mädchen und ihre intime Komplizenschaft.

Biografie
Céline Trouillet, geboren 1975 in Colmar, Frankreich, studierte Musik (Klavier) an der Academy of Music in Colmar,
später Kunst am École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg. Sie stellt regelmäßig in internationalen Galerien aus und ist mit ihren Filmen zu Festivals eingeladen.
Two twin sisters perform Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse of the
Heart. The title’s allusion to the universe continues in this
short film by CélineTrouillet both visually and symbolically. Visibly via the background fabric, in front of which the
two girls perform their song. Symbolically in that Gemini
is also a sign of the zodiac. There again, in contrast to the
vastness of the universe, we perceive the inner emotional
landscape of the girls and their intimate complicity.
Biography
Born 1975 in Colmar, France, Céline Trouillet studied piano
at the Academy of Music in Colmar and later art at École
nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg. She
exhibits regularly in galleries throughout the world and she
and her films are often invited to festivals.

›Swallow‹ bringt uns irgendwo nach Italien, an einen abgeschiedenen Wasserfall unter einen azurblauen Himmel. Bilder, die Laure Provoust als Referenz an das Genre der Panoramamalerei und Italienreisen gesammelt hat, flackern auf, um
gleich wieder zu verschwinden: nackte Frauenkörper, in seichtem Wasser badend, flüchtige Bilder von Vögeln, sprudelndes Quellwasser, Schritte nackter Füße im Gras, unter denen Himbeeren zerplatzen. Swallow ist eine Meditation über
den Genuss, ein Spiel mit der historischen Idee der Reise ins
Mediterrane auf der Suche nach Inspiration. Tonsplitter verstärken den Eindruck, komplettieren jedes einzelne Bild: das
Summen von Bienen, Vogelgezwitscher und ein nach Luft durstender Atem, der die zehnminütige Montage interpunktiert.
›Swallow‹ takes us to somewhere in Italy, to a secluded
waterfall under an azure sky. The images that Laure
Prouvost has put together are a kind of homage to the genre
of panoramic painting and to Italian journeys. Images that
flare up, only to disappear at once. Naked women bathing
in shallow water, fleeting pictures of birds, sparkling spring
water and bare feet on the grass as raspberries burst. Swallow
is a meditation on pleasure, a play on that historical idea
of visiting the Mediterranean in search of inspiration.
Meanwhile, complementing the individual images,
fragments of sound reinforce the overall impression. The
humming of bees, the twittering of birds and breath craving
for air all punctuate this ten-minute collage.

Als Gewinnerin des renommierten Max Mara Price for Women
2011 absolvierte Laure Prouvost eine sechsmonatige Künstlerresidenz in Italien, Swallow ist eines der Resultate. Provousts Werk umfasst neben Filmen Performances und Installationen. Oft geht es in ihren Arbeiten um Zusammenhänge
und Differenzen von Sprache und Begreifen. Provoust, Jahrgang 1978, stellte weltweit in Museen und Galerien aus,
unter anderem im Neuen Berliner Kunstverein (2014), in
der Tate Britain, London oder auf der Frieze Art Fair 2011.
2013 gewann sie mit ihrem Video Wantee den Turner Prize.
Biography
As the winner of the prestigious Max Mara Art Prize for
Women 2011, Laure Prouvost completed a six-month
artist residency in Italy. Swallow is one of the results.
Her work includes not only films but also performances
and installations. Her themes deal with contextuality and
differences of language and comprehension. Ms Prouvost,
born 1978, exhibits in museums and galleries worldwide
– e.g. the Neuer Berliner Kunstverein (2014), the Tate
Britain in London and the Frieze Art Fair 2011. In 2013,
her video Wantee won the Turner Prize.
