Die neueste Ausgabe der Reggae Anthology Serie präsentiert den Produzenten, Labeleigner und
Studiobesitzer Augustus "Gussie" Clarke (Deluxe Package: 34 essentiellen Songs auf zwei CDs, Booklet mit
ausführlichen Linernotes, plus 50-minütiger Dokumentation auf DVD).
Bereits mit 18 Jahren produzierte er das Debütalbum von Big Youth ("Screaming Target" von 1972), I-Roys
"Presenting" Longplayer folgte 1973 und bis in die 80er Jahre veröffentlichte er auf seinen Labeln Gussie
und Puppy erfolgreich u.a. Aufnahmen von Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Augustus Pablo, Delroy Wilson
und The Mighty Diamonds, deren "Pass The Kouchie" sein erster weltweiter Erfolg wurde. Ende der 80er
hatte er endlich sein eigenes Studio Music Works eingerichtet und war der Verantwortliche für die mit Gold
& Platin ausgezeichnete Karriere des Shabba Ranks, den weltweiten Clubhit "Telephone Love" (von J.C.
Lodge) und den letzten großen Hit von Gregory Isaacs "Rumours". Heutzutage gelten die Musikstudios des
Gussie Clarke, die unter dem Namen Anchor Studios firmieren, zu dem besten was Jamaika zu bieten hat neben allen lokalen Größen haben auch internationale Popstars wie Rihanna, Sting, Simply Red, Fugees und
renommierte Plattenfirmen wie Def Jam dort aufgenommen.

his Music Works and Gussie labels. From The Foundation celebrates the legacy of Augustus ‘Gussie’ Clarke,
the artist careers he launched and guided and the classic hits that resulted. The story is told in exrensive
liner notes by John Masouri.
The deluxe package contains a newly produced documentary video titled Gussie Clarke: From The
Foundation which includes vintage footage and rare interviews chronicling the highlights of an amazing
