The Göttingen Research Campus, an association of the University
of Göttingen with seven non-university research institutions, has
been cultivating contacts with scientific institutions in Argentina
for a long time. To mark this close cooperation, the Göttingen
Research Campus is hosting an Argentina Week from 10th to
15th June, 2013.
The close German-Argentine scientific relations are evident at
many levels – in both research and teaching. Within the framework of the German-Argentine University Centre, the Universities
of Göttingen and Rosario successfully applied to jointly educate
PhD students in the international Doctoral Programme Molecular
Biosciences and Biomedicine. For this purpose, both universities
cooperate closely with institutions of the Göttingen Research
Campus and with the Max Planck Laboratory of Structural Biology,
Chemistry, and Molecular Biophysics in Rosario. The programme
commences on Thursday, June 13th, with a two-and-a-half day
scientific workshop. It will be officially inaugurated by the Minister for Science and Culture of Lower Saxony on Friday.
The Argentina Week on the Göttingen Research Campus offers
a rich scientific and cultural programme addressing scientists as
well as students, and, to the same extent, the general public.
Without our numerous sponsors this series of events could not
take place. We are particularly grateful to the AKB Foundation,
the Sartorius AG, and the Sparkasse Göttingen. We also thank
the Argentine Embassy, the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal
Republic of Germany, the Studentenwerk Göttingen, and the
Tanzschule Krebs most warmly for their support.
We hope that you will find our programme attractive and wish
you an exciting and informative week.
With best regards,
Prof. Dr. Hiltraud Casper-Hehne Vice President, University of Göttingen
