Susie Zimmer-Sullivan Publicity and Advertising Chair P AGE 7 D E R AN Z E IGE R V O L UME 4 5, I S S UE 8 Sunshine Sunshine Report – September 2016 We will keep the following friends and members in our thoughts and prayers for their recovery: Frank Gressley had surgery on July 19, 2016. Frank and wife, Sandra, work in the kitchen on Wednesdays and the 3rd Friday of the month. He is recovering nicely at home and is anxious to return to the kitchen. Harry Reifschneider, Anzeiger editor, had been very ill with pneumonia. After 3 weeks of treatment, he is now well and back to his daily routine. Ruth Nastepniak had a biopsy done last Thurs, August 7th and is awaiting results. She is in good spirits and hasn’t curtailed any of her activities. Her son, John, watches over her, as does God. Our sympathy and condolences go out to: Ermelinde (Linda) Schroeder on the sudden death of her daughter, Renee Rupert, June 10, 2016 as a result of a mid-line aneurysm. Renee had been her mother’s transportation to the Club since the death of Linda’s husband, Werner, in March of 2015. Renee was a massage therapist and leaves 3 young children. Linda hopes to continue coming to the Club when her son is able to bring her as she enjoys visiting with her many friends here. Susie St. Onge on the death of her daughter, Erica, on July 30, 2016. Her daughter leaves four children. Susie has recently joined the bar crew. The Celebration of Life for Erica was held in early August. Family and friends gathered at Coral Ridge Cemetery on July 9th to put to rest Hannelore Brown. She shared her time and talents with her loving family, the war effort, her work and her dedication to the GASC. Her happy and kind demeanor will be sorely missed by all of us. Gerd Trebing passed away on June 16, 2016 after a long battle with cancer. He was in Germany at the time and was laid to rest there. Gerd was a 26 year member of the Club and active in the Pancake Kitchen during Oktoberfests and Gartenfests. He will be missed by his family and friends. Please help us to notify members of illnesses or deaths by contacting any of the names below prior to the monthly meeting. Thank you Linda Wabrek, 239-573-1583 or [email protected] Karen Schnieder, 239-599-2980 or [email protected] Carole Cornet, 239-281-5434 or [email protected] V O L UME 4 5 , I S S UE 8 D E R AN Z E IGE R P AGE 8 Short Info about the Election of our Officers or Directors Our Bylaws give us clear instructions on the process and when the elections are held. Please review your copy of the bylaws you received when you joined the club. In accordance to article VI.D., the election of officers or directors takes place at the regularly scheduled December membership meeting prior to the business meeting. Article VII.C. states that officers or directors are elected for a two year period and may be reelected for another two year term. Article VII.E.2.says clearly what qualifications a candidate requires to be nominated for election. The person must have been an active Club member for at least twenty-four consecutive months and have served on a Club committee for at least 12 months or have been a chairman or assistant chairman of any “Other” committee listed in the bylaws for a period of twelve months. Article XI. regulates the duties of the five-member nominating committee and how it is selected. The nominating committee, one member of whom is selected by the President, two of whom are selected by the Board in July, and two of whom are selected from among the members at the August general meeting, select a slate of eligible candidates from among the members at the October membership meeting. They in turn hand the slate to the already nominated judge of election, upon which the committee is then discharged. Each candidate has an opportunity at the October meeting to address the membership for a period not to exceed two minutes. No other verbal presentation or vote solicitation is allowed. Article XI.G. states that within 10 days following the October meeting, each candidate must provide an individual photograph and pertinent biographical outline, which is then published in the November and December issues of the Anzeiger and posted on the bulletin board. This is a summary of the information found in the bylaws. If you would like more details, please refer to the aforementioned articles in your copy of the document. Joyce Amann, President Editors Note: All candidates, please send in your picture and Bio for the election, not later than October 17th, to be published in the Anzeiger for November and December. Every Wednesday morning we meet here at our club for friendship and crafts, we mainly produce useful and also fun items in knitting and crocheting and beading etc. As of this writing our day trip to St. Petersburg on August 21, has not happened yet. I will report later on how great it was (always the optimist). Thank you very much to all the GALS that are working at the garden and the tent booths for the Oktoberfest without you we would not be a part of this important event for the club. At our September meeting on Wednesday, September 14th, we will have Claudia Jones a Community Service Representative as our Speaker, who comes to us from "Home lnstead". We invite everyone to join us for some very important life changing information which could possibly affect many of us. Inge Freund, G.A.L.S.
