M
Having travelled the seas for over 100 million
years, turtles have outlived almost all of the
prehistoric animals with which they once shared
the planet. Having outlived the dinosaurs, marine
turtles still inhabit the oceans’ open waters and
coastal areas. They feed on jellyfish and other
plants and animals in the sea. Critically
endangered, the turtle is at risk from many
factors such as getting caught in fishing nets,
hunting and egg collection, climate change and
pollution.

M
Polar bears live on the arctic ice in northern
Canada, Greenland, Norway, and Russia. Between
late April and mid-July, polar bears hunt ringed
and bearded seals on the ice. Adult males can
weigh up to 1,430 pounds and grow as much as
nine feet in length. They are the world’s largest
meat-eating animals. As a result of climate
change, sea ice melts earlier and forms later each
year, leaving polar bears less time to hunt. As the
ice shrinks, skinnier and hungrier bears face a big
challenge to their survival.
Our mission: For nearly half a century, WWF has
been protecting the future of nature. The world’s
leading conservation organization, WWF works in
100 countries and is supported by almost five

Adopt a Giraffe!!!
M
Giraffe facts:
Giraffes can be found on the open savannahs and
wooded grasslands of eastern and southern Africa,
where acacia trees and other plants are plentiful.
Their long necks help them to feed on leaves
beyond the reach of other hoofed animals. Like a
fingerprint, the markings of a giraffe’s coat are
unique to each individual animal. As people
continue to destroy their environment the future
of these majestic animals is in danger.
Give a gift that will help protect the future of our planet.

Introduction to SKIP (Supporting Kids in Peru)
M
SKIP is working in poor districts in Peru. There are teachers, social
workers, psychologists, economic development workers and many other
volunteers in our teams. We give money for school fees, uniforms and
materials to over 350 children each year.
Our Economic Development Teams also help parents to improve their own
living conditions. They offer financial aid, business training and develop
business ideas together.
Social Work and Psychological Teams also help parents to deal with
difficult situations and learn to understand their children's behaviour.
Education is the key to the future
Unlike the education system in Western countries, schooling in Peru
is not free, and many families cannot afford to send their children to
school. Another problem is that parents who have not been to school
themselves do not know what difference an education can make to
their children's future.
In addition, a wide range of social problems, from family violence to drug
dependency, directly influence a child's success.
