PCU stands for a new generation of coating for non-leafing pigments with an extremely high level of chemical resistance. What
makes the PCU pigments so special is the innovative concept of
pigment encapsulation with an inorganic/organic double coating.
PCU coated pigments are well known from the PCU aluminium
series. The concept is to embed a platelet metal core in an inorganic matrix of silicon dioxide and to do a further encapsulation
with a special organic acrylate layer. This concept was transferred
to bronze, copper and Aloxal®-pigments.
PCU Copper 4000 / PCU Kupfer 4000
PCU steht für eine neue Generation von Beschichtung von
non-leafing Pigmenten mit einer extrem guten Chemikalienbeständigkeit. Das Besondere an den PCU-Pigmenten ist das innovative Konzept der Pigment-Einkapselung mit einer anorganisch/
organischen Doppelbeschichtung.
Das Konzept besteht darin, plättchenförmige Kerne aus Metallen
in eine anorganische Matrix aus Siliziumdioxid einzubetten und
anschließend mit einer Acrylat-Schicht zu umhüllen. Dieses
Konzept konnte auf Bronze-, Kupfer- und Aloxal®-Pigmente
übertragen werden.

The advantage of using this technology on substrates with pure
bronze, copper or champagne colours is that disadvantages like
different chargeability of blends of different effect pigments can
be reduced while obtaining an excellent chemical resistance.

Combining new substrates with this unique inorganic/organic double coating provide the PCU-pigments an exceptional resistance
regarding corrosion and chemical resistance. Therefore the PCU
pigments will open up new application fields for metallic powder
coatings where improved chemical resistance is required.
