A sample of compliments below say it all....
“Hi Lindsay, I had a great day and was inspired to see the great work you all do at Marriott. The enthusiasm and passion of everyone was great to see and you and the team
certainly play a critical role in the lives of the employees. I really enjoyed the interactions
I had with everyone and will be recommending Marriott Services to my colleagues.” Regards, Chris, NAB.
Hey Lindsay, Thank you for having me there. It was lovely to meet you and to work
with Cheryl and Olivia, they were both great teachers and do a fantastic job. I hope to
come back one day as the day was very rewarding - and yes, I definitely miss the free
facial. Warm regards, Justine, NAB.

Hi Lindsay, it was very unusual and very special volunteer day. Being there and working
with Marriott employees give me appreciation of great initiative your company has by
employing people with disabilities. I was thinking a lot about the day and how hard it
would be for these guys I worked with and their families. Being able to work, contribute
to society and earn no doubt increase self esteem. So thank you again, Gennadi, NAB.
Thanks kindly Lindsay. Our experience at Marriott was widely discussed today. Yesterday and Monday's attendees got so much from the day and we are deeply inspired. We
learned a lot about what you guys do and a few things about ourselves. Many thanks,
Josh, NAB

Drive Train - a roaring success!
Recently, Marriott’s
"Drive Train" wrapped up
for the year, the Pilot
program was a roaring
success with 11 out of 12
participants successfully
passing their Driving
Learners test.
All the participants
worked very hard to
achieve their goal and
were supported in no
small part by the fantastic volunteers we were
lucky enough to have assisting us.
As the program started we
had three volunteers,
Jessica, Peter and Jackson each assisting in one
session per week. As the
program progressed and
participants started successfully getting their
learner permits we reduced the sessions to two
a week whilst Jessica and
Jackson started attending
both sessions enabling us
to provide some much
needed intensive one on
one support to the remaining participants.
To celebrate the end of a
great and successful program all participants and
volunteers were invited
to an afternoon of Go
Kart racing at SideTracked Entertainment.
The go karting was well
enjoyed by all who attended with thrills and
spills a plenty and some
of the participants showing off their driving
skills. All participants
were reminded that they
should not drive on the
road like they do on go
kart tracks.
The participants used the
opportunity to thank the
volunteers for their help

and presented them with
certificates of appreciation and a remote controlled toy car. After
such a successful program
it is hoped it can be run
again next year with Jessica and Jackson already
saying they would help
again if they can fit it
in with their busy study
schedules. Peter is already volunteering again
assisting someone to
study for their forklift
licence.
Most of the participants
who passed their learners
test have started taking
independent driving lessons and we wish them all
the best in obtaining a
divers licence.

Hannah, the kind and helpful
Hannah started volunteering
with us in May. Hannah helps
me with budgeting, learning
about money and sometimes we
play ‘money bingo’. Hannah
helps me write in my diary. I
tell her what I want to write,
she writes onto a whiteboard
and then I copy it into my diary. Hannah is helpful, kind

and patient. Thank you Hannah for coming in every Tuesday to work with me
and Brendan.

Chris offers some good advice
Hi, my names Chris, every Tuesday afternoon I have been coming to Marriott House to
volunteer answering the phones, taking messages, doing photocopying jobs for Erica
and Sarah.
My role as a volunteer receptionist is to do photocopying, answering the phone, help
Jenna, help Erica, help Sarah.
And i love being a volunteer at Marriott. Jenna is the best teacher. She showed me how
to use the photocopier, answer the phone properly, showed me how to take messages.
Erica is the best volunteer coordinator for getting Jenna to help me learn this new role.
I volunteer because I enjoy it, I get involved with MSS and the community. I learn new
skills, meet new people. A few years ago i never would have had the confidence to volunteer. Sarah asked me if i would give it a go and it is the best thing I’ve ever done. I
have learnt new skills like answering the phone properly. This has grown my confidence
when i go out into the community and having the support of the volunteers, Sarah and
Erica has been great.
If you’re thinking about volunteering my advice is to just give it a go because you never
know what it might teach you.

Happy 3 Year Anniversary
We are very excited to acknowledge the significant contribution of the following volunteers who have been
with Marriott for 3 years and given so much. Julie Busch, Jacqui Thomson, Jan Porter, Joanne Holloway and
Neil Joseph.
Julie has connected and cooked amongst other things with the participants of Roads to Independence.
Jacqui has supported Leanne to purchase supplies for Marriott Community and enjoyed chats over coffee.
Jan has painted too many nails to count and given umpteen hand massages.
Joanne has provided consistent, reliable and efficient admin support.
Neil has provided company, conversation and gone on walks with the men at Marriott Community.
On behalf of all staff and participants at Marriott thank you.

Introducing Sarah Katherine
Hi my name is Sarah
Bramble. I volunteer at
Marriott House on a Friday afternoon at reception. I have been volunteering for a few months
now and quite enjoying
it. I came to Marriott
House through Marriott
Employment Options
where I am a client. I was
informed of this volunteer position as I started
doing some volunteer
work at MEO on recep-
tion to fill in for one of
their receptionists while
she was away. In my spare
time I am a part of a Medieval Re-enactment
group who meet once a
week on a Friday evening
we also have big weekend
camping events when the
weather is good enough
which is often a lot of
fun.
Sarah, volunteer
Thanks Sarah for bringing
your bright and cheery self to
Marriott House every Friday
