ABOUT THE SHOALHAVEN, NSW, AUSTRALIA
THE RACE
The AR World Championship 2016, hosted by the XPD Expedition Race,
will take teams representing over 30 countries on a 600km journey
through the Shoalhaven region of New South Wales (NSW), Australia.
The winning team is estimated to complete the non stop, unsupported
course of trekking, mountain biking, kayaking and navigation in 4.5
days. The event will be a straight out linear race, no mandatory stops,
no dark zones, no optional controls - pure adventure racing at it’s best!
Dates will be set for mid November 2016.
WHO CAN ENTER?
It has been a long tradition of Adventure Racing that elite and novice
teams race shoulder to shoulder on the same course and this will be
embraced by the ARWC 2016. The course will remain open for 8 days,
with only one short course option at the end of the race, giving most
teams the opportunity to finish.
Entries open on 24th of February 2016. 30 Qualifying spots for the
ARWS, 40 spots allocated on a first in first, 10 spots for special interest
teams. Entry fee is $7,990 AUD (approx $5,700 USD/ 5,000 Euro). Entries
are expected to sell out quickly.

The Shoalhaven is a dream
playground for an adventure racer.
A staggering 70% of the region is
national park or native forest. There
are over 19 major water catchments
including rivers, bays and lakes.
Scattered along 165kms of coast line
are 109 pristine beaches.
Jervis Bay in the Shoalhaven is home
to the whitest beach in the world and
its clear turquoise waters are amongst
the most beautiful in the country.
In November Jervis Bay is one of the
best places to witness the majestic
humpback whales on their annual
migration as they take time out to rest
and play with their calves in the calm
waters.
The Shoalhaven is teeming with iconic
Australian wildlife. From kangaroos
on the beach to wombats in the forests
- you are guaranteed to encounter
these famous creatures.
Back from the coast is the grand
Morton National Park, which is one of
the largest national parks in NSW. It
is a spectacular wilderness labyrinth
of sandstone cliffs, canyons and
beautiful natural forest.
Nowra, the largest town in the region,
is a world renowned rock climbing
mecca and home to some of the
countries toughest sport climbs.
The weather should be ideal for the
event with average daily minimum
temperatures of 15 degrees Celsius
and average maximums of 24 degrees.
Be sure to sample the regions local
food and wine including freshly
shucked Sydney Rock oysters and dine
in award-winning restaurants such as
Bannisters in Mollymook and Cupitt’s
Kitchen.

Each international team will be buddied
up with a local volunteer. They will
be ready to help you with those tasks
which can be difficult in a new country
such as shopping for race food and
finding that last minute piece of
equipment.

AIRPORT TRANSFER.
There will be an optional transfer for
international teams from the Sydney
International Airport to the Event
Headquarters in the Shoalhaven.
International teams may also choose
to hire a car and drive themselves the 2
hours along the scenic coast road to the
event.

A CORRIDA
O Campeonato Mundial AR 2016, organizado pelo XPD Expedition Race, levará equipes
representando mais de 30 países em uma jornada de 600 km através da região
Shoalhaven de Nova Gales do Sul (NSW), na Austrália. Estima-se que a equipe vencedora
concluirá o percurso de trekking, mountain bike, caiaque e navegação em 4,5 dias sem
interrupções e sem apoio. O evento será uma corrida linear, sem paradas obrigatórias, sem
zonas escuras, sem controles opcionais – uma corrida de aventura pura em seu melhor! As
datas serão definidas para a metade de novembro de 2016.
QUEM PODE PARTICIPAR?
Tem sido uma tradição duradoura da Corrida de Aventura que equipes de elite e
amadoras competem ombro a ombro no mesmo percurso e isso será dotado pelo ARWC
2016. O percurso permanecerá aberto por 8 dias, com apenas uma única opção curta de
percurso ao final da corrida, oferecendo para a maior parte das equipes a oportunidade de
concluir a prova.
As inscrições iniciam em 24 de fevereiro de 2016. 30 vagas de qualificação para o
ARWS, 40 vagas alocadas em uma base “os primeiros serão servidos”, 10 vagas
para equipes de interesses especiais. A taxa de entrada é de $7.990,00 AUD
(aproximadamente $5.700,00 dólares/ 5.000,00 euros). Espera-se que as entradas
esgotem rapidamente.

O Shoalhaven é um parque de diversões dos sonhos para um corredor de aventura.
Assombrosos 70% da região do parque nacional ou floresta nativa. Existem mais de 19
grandes bacias hidrográficas incluindo rios, baias e lagos. Espalhadas ao longo de 165
km da linha costeira estão 109 praias intocadas.
Jervis Bay em Shoalhaven é o lar da praia mais branca do mundo e suas claras
águas de cor turquesa estão dentre as mais bonitas no país.
Em novembro, Jervis Bay é um dos melhores lugares para testemunhar as majestosas
baleias jubarte em sua migração anual enquanto descansam e brincam com seus
filhotes nas águas calmas.
Shoalhaven está repleta de vida selvagem australiana. De cangurus na praia até

afastado da costa fica o Morton National Park, que é um dos maiores parques nacionais
em NSW. Ele é um espetacular labirinto de vida selvagem composto por penhascos de
arenito, desfiladeiros e uma linda floresta natural.
Nowra, a maior cidade da região, é uma Meca da escalada famosa em todo o
mundo e lar de algumas das escaladas esportivas mais difíceis de alguns países.
O clima deve estar ideal para o evento com temperaturas mínimas diárias de 15 graus
Celsius e máximas médias de 24 graus.
Certifique-se de provar a comida local das regiões e o vinho, incluindo as recém-abertas
ostras Sydney Rock e jante em restaurantes premiados como o Bannisters em Mollymook
e o Cupitt’s Kitchen.

voluntário local. Tal voluntário estará preparado para ajudar você com aquelas tarefas
que podem ser difíceis em um país desconhecido, tais como comprar alimentos para a
corrida e encontrar aquele equipamento de última hora.

carro e dirigirem as 2 horas ao longo da estrada pitoresca até o evento.
