Unfortunately you have to leave the camp on this Saturday morning. The

Italy gets first medal in the pool.

Barcelona- Four world record were set
at Palau San Jordi on day 6 at Fina
World Swimming Championships in
Barcelona. American swimming legend
Michael Phelps completed an historical
double after he set twice a world mark
in about 20 minutes.
The
19-year-old
swimmer
from
Baltimore bettered the 100 metres
butterfly world record of 51.76 that
fellow Andrii Serdinov from Ukraine set
five minutes before in the first semifinal. Phelps swam in a time of 51.47,
while the former world record of 51.81
was set in 1999 by autralian Michael
Klim.
Few time later, the american completed
his sensational day at the pool by
winning the 200 metres individual
medley world title with an impressive
time of 1 minute, 56.04 seconds,
shaving 40/100 of a second from his
own world mark that he set on thursday.
In the same event, australian Thorpe
placed second (1:59.66) while Italy's
Massimiliano Rosolino took bronze
(1:59.71) and gives to Italy the first
medal from the pool.The fourth world
mark of day 6, was set in the women's
200 metres breastsroke by Amanda
Beard of the United States who who
won the gold medal in 2:22.99 and
share now the world mark with chinese
Qi Hui, who placed just third with
2:25.78 behind silver medallist Leisel
Jones from Australia.
In other events, Hanna Maria Seppala
gets the first gold medal of ever for
Finland in the women's 100 metres
freestyle that she won in a time of
54.37, 1st mark of the year and 8th alltime.
Finally, the Zar Alexander Popov
completed the 50 metres freestyle
semi-finals with the best time of 21.99,
after in the morning heats he clocked
the new competition record of 21.98.
Popov is the only swimmer to have
concluded the qualifying session by
swimming under 22 seconds.
