Befehle, Bitten und Verbote in der
indirekten Rede – indirect command
Dieses Kapitel der englischen Sprache wird dir keine Schwierigkeiten bereiten, denn es ist
sehr, sehr einfach!
direct command
He said, “Go home!”
Dad said, “Stop playing!”
The policeman said, “Show me your
papers!”
indirect command
Befehl



He told us to go home.
Dad told me to stop playing.
The policeman ordered us to show him
our papers.
Verbot
He said, “Don’t do this!”
Dad said, “Don’t wait for me!”
The policeman said, “Don’t stop!”



He told us not to do that.
Dad told me not to wait for him.
He told us not to stop!
Bitte
He said, “Please shut the door!”
Dad said, “Don’t drop it, please!”
The policeman said, “Please go on!”
imperative (Befehlsform)
negativ: don’t ...



He asked me to shut the door.
Dad asked me not to drop it.
He asked us to go on.
infinitive (Nennform)
negativ: not to ...
Am einfachsten ist der Befehl:
Der Imperativ (die Befehlsform) gleicht der 1. Form des Verbs.
Genauso einfach ist das Verbot: So wie der Befehl, nur verneint!
Die Bitte unterscheidet sich vom Befehl oder Verbot nur im Ton;
sie ist viel höflicher formuliert.
In der indirekten Rede erkennnst du die Bitte am
reporting verb “asked” (bat, ersuchte):




Go!
Don’t go!
Please go!
Please don’t go!
Die wichtigsten reporting verbs in indirect command sind:
told (me) (sagte, trug ... auf) – ordered (befahl) – asked (bat, ersuchte)

Sue said, “Please wait for me!”
Jamie said, “Don’t tell my parents, please!”
Nobody said, “Come back tomorrow!”
The headmaster said, “Stop fighting and shake hands!”
Mum said, “Go shopping but don’t spend all the money!”
Mr. Herbert said, “Please tell me the whole story!”

Es gibt noch eine andere Möglichkeit, einen Befehl oder ein Verbot indirekt
auszudrücken. (Bei Bitten funktioniert das allerdings nicht!)
Mr. Mack said, “Start writing but don’t copy your answers!” 
Mr. Mack said we should start writing but we shouldn’t copy our answers.

entscheidest auch, wer das (zu wem) sagt, und du bestimmst
das reporting verb.

Jetzt wird alles gemischt: Aussagen, Entscheidungs- und
Ergänzungsfragen, Befehle, Verbote und Bitten. Denke daran,
dass man – je nach Satzart – verschiedene Einleitungen der
indirekten Rede braucht! Die Sätze verbindest du am besten mit
den bekannten Bindewörtern and, but, as und because.


