Opinion essay: Can money buy happiness?
StageofLife.com, an international blogging and writing resource for young
people, asks for contributions to this month’s writing contest.
Over 3,335 students from dozens of countries visited the writing contest
page in December 2010, and talked about their attitudes towards money
in their essays.
In our interview, Justina Tran, the winner of the contest, stated, "(It) still
stresses me out to an extent, but I'm confident that money and I can still
be friends."

Topic 1: Smoking
During a school project you had a heated discussion in English about the
partial smoking ban in Austria, which only forbids smoking in bars and
restaurants that are larger than 50 square metres unless there are
separate rooms for smokers and non-smokers.
After reading an article on a Facebook initiative that has recently collected
about 100,000 signatures for a referendum for smoke-free restaurants
and bars in ´The Vienna Review´, you decide to write a letter to the
editor.
Make sure that you

state your opinion about the partial smoking ban in Austria
•
comment on the Facebook campaign
•
explain if the present smoking regulations have an impact on
teenagers´ meeting places
