Cast off at Day 3 : Koblenz - Lorelei - Mainz 18.30. Fade away the evening in the lounge with a glass of wine and enjoy the passing landscape Departure: Koblenz 08.30 through the big panoramic windows. Passing: Lorelei 11.30 Arrival: Mainz 17.00 The ship leaves Koblenz at 08.30 to pass around 11.00 the probably most beautiful piece of the Rhine. The Lorelei is a rock on the eastern bank of the Rhine near St. Goarshausen. Lorelei is also the name of a feminine water spirit, similar to mer- 20 commander Nero Claudius Drusus as a military outpost. Today it‘s the official seat of the European Parliament. During a tour of the well preserved historical city you discover a lot of sights like the Palais Rohan and the Palais du Rhin, the Jardin des Deux Rives, Place Kléber, the Hanauer Court (city residence, now serves as City hall) and of course the landmark Strasbourg Cathedral, one of the largest sandstone builings of the world. Also worth seeing is the so called „Gerberviertel“ (tanners‘ district) with its picturesque timbered houses, small alleys und typically dormers. Set sail at 15.00 to Koblenz. Day 6: Koblenz Arrival: 08.00 - Departure: 22.00 Today‘s excursion starts with a walk throught the residence city at the „German Corner“ (Deutsches Eck), one of the oldest cities in Germany, passing the city hall with the „Schängelbrunnen“ and other interesting points. Afterwards you cross the Rhine by a cable car and by an inclined lift to the foot of the hill of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. The peak of the hill is 118 metres above the Rhine. Enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view over Koblenz. In the afternoon you have the possibility to attend a panoramic trip to Vulkaneifel. First stop will be the Laach Lake (Laacher See). It is a volcanic caldera lake with a diameter of 2 km. On the western side lies the Benedictine monastery of Maria Laach Abbey, founded in 1093 by Henry II of Laach. It‘s a masterpiece of German Romanesque architecture with its six towers, the the Abbey gardens and a lot of monuments and memorials. Subsequently you have free time to discover or to take a walk. Back on your floating hotel you have time to get ready for your farewell evening: a fantastic gala dinner with „Ice Parade á la MS Alemannia“. Cast off at 22.00.
