Eine junge Frau liegt in schwarzer Korsage auf dem Bett und liest jemandem einen Artikel über den Flugzeugabsturz in der Ukraine vor, über die Schwierigkeiten Internationaler Rechtsnormen im Zusammenhang mit dem Flugschreiber. Ein anderes Paar, sie liegend, er an der Bettkante sitzend, streitet sich darüber was er den nun gemeint habe mit seinem Satz. “Always Here” zeigt Paare vor Webcams, die eigentlich auf Kundschaft warten, auf Menschen, die ihnen beim Sex zusehen und dafür bezahlen würden. Stattdessen sieht man die Intimität des Dazwischen, den Alltag, der sich vor die Kamera schleicht. Sie schlafen, lesen, streiten und der Zuschauer wird viel mehr zum Voyeur, als einer der bezahlt hätte.

Another couple, she in bed, he seated on the edge of it, is arguing about the meaning of what he just said. “Always Here” is a portrait of couples in front of webcams, waiting for customers ­­ people watching them having sex and paying for it. Instead we see the intimacy of the in­between and the every day life that cannot be hidden from the camera. They sleep, read, argue and the audience becomes much more a voyeur than a paying customer.
Steffen Köhn (1980) studiert seit 2006 Regie an der Deutschen Film und Fernsehakademie Berlin. 2014 schloss er seine Promotion in Anthropologie ab. Steffen Köhns Arbeit lässt sich in der Schnittmenge von Kunst und Anthropologie verorten.
Steffen Köhn was born in 1980. Since 2006 he has studied directing at the German Film­ and Television Academy in Berlin. 2014 he obtained a PhD in anthropology. Steffen Köhn’s work is situated in the shared space that has opened up between art and anthropology.
