words that make them up. They are very common in spoken English, particularly among
native speakers, so it is helpful to be able to understand them. But be careful when using
idioms yourself: it is easy to make mistakes that may lead to misunderstandings, particularly as many English idioms are different from German ones. Also, remember that idioms may
be unclear to business partners who are not native speakers of English.
