Dear customers, interested parties and employees,
Success in business is based on fundamental know-how. As such MOTORTECH
organized its 2nd Open House event on
the 4th of June this year with interesting
presentations for the visitors and guided
tours throughout the factory.
On the company premises in Altenhagen
customers as well as suppliers were
informed about the latest developments
of the gas engine industry at the „World
of MOTORTECH“. Numerous info booths
from companies such as MAN, MTU, BP
etc. were represented.
The visit of a biogas plant and the presentation of various VW cars running with
gas engines from Autohaus Schmidt &
Söhne in Celle were just two of many
highlights.
We were especially pleased about the
brisk interest in the Get Together in the
marquee in the evening. More than 200
guests followed our invitation, among
them Mrs. Dr. Schmidt, 1. Councilor
of the city of Celle and Thomas Faber,
Manager Special Dept. of Economic
Development.
We hope that we could offer our guests
an interesting insight in the gas engine
world and are already looking forward to
the next „World of MOTORTECH“!

TESTING THE NEW MOTORTECH C-COIL
Test of fire prevention passed
The C-coil is a MOTORTECH inhouse
development, produced at the company
premises in Celle. One of the most important criteria for the application of this
coil on a 2 or 4 stroke engine is the exact
compliance with fire preventions.
EXPERIENCE TECHNOLOGY
Hanover will become the worldwide
meeting point of decentralized energy supply from the 16th to the 19th of
November this year.
In the context of the international DLG
exhibition EuroTier, the Bio Energy
fair attracts trade visitors to come to
Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony
in order to experience new, innovative technology live and firsthand.
Based on our slogan „More power in
the long run“ MOTORTECH surprises
their visitors with a full program of
high-tech components for stationary
gas engines.
The relevant norm DIN ISO 6826 „fire
prevention for 2 or 4 stroke engines“
asks for clear requirements with regards
to safety regulations of fire prevention:
„Electrical components of engines with
external ignition must be built in a way
that while being in operation they do not
ignite any combustible gases around the
engine“.

concept for more capacity and a significantly higher degree of efficiency:
• High primary energy up to 250mJ
• Up to 16 cylinder
• Up to 3 pickups
• Integrated field busses (CAN/RS 485)

All valid test methods and requirements
necessary to obey these regulations are
specified in norm ISO 8846 („electrical
devices – ignition protection towards
combustible gases“). Main criterion of
this norm is the fact that combustible
gases, that might be produced during
engine operation, have no access to
any electrical components of a device.
Another characteristic of an ignition safer
device is that the surface temperature
will remain below 200°C even during
operation at overload.
In order to check the gas proofness the
norm demands a dive-into-water-test
showing that thereafter no fluid at all will
be in the coil contacts. To test the surface
temperature based on the given norm,
operation in a special test chamber is
required, with a constant temperature of
60 °C over the complete test period.
The prototype test as per this criterion
was executed with a standard C-coil in
the laboratory of MOTORTECH GmbH,
using the company‘s high-tech tempera-
2
After 12 hrs of permanent operation the
surface temperature of the coil adjusted
itself to 80°C and as such was far below
the acceptable temperature of 200°C.
Besides all mentioned facts the following
technical speciality should be pointed
out: The testnorm refers to electrical
devices in water crafts. Therefore the coil
could be marked with „ISO 8846“ and
the addition „MARINE“.
As a matter of form we expressively
mention that totally different norms will
apply for explosion protective applications. In this context we like to draw your
attention to our series of shielded coils
completely encapsulated in metal, corresponding with the latest CSA requirements (Canadian Standards Association).

IDEAL PROTECTION FOR GAS ENGINES
MOTORTECH Liquid Level Controller
The MOTORTECH Liquid Level Controller can be used
for applications with oil, water or coolant. The standard built-in MIN-switch monitors the liquid level and
prevents the engine from running dry by a special
signal – thus preventing any damage and unnecessary
engine down times.
Additionally the level controller can be equipped with
a maximum of three optionally available liquid level
sensors. Those are NC-(Normally Closed) pickups,
which can be directly connected to the engine control
unit.

MOTORTECH POLAND
AMERICAN SOCCER WEEK IN CELLE
3 years of production in Poland
Technology, culture and a lot of fun
For already three years MOTORTECH has
been producing part of their product
portfolio in Kolberg/Poland.
A very good decision: the highly motivated team of 25 employees guided by
their Managing Director Kris Walicki and
Production Manager Lukas Koprowski
managed to deliver major quantities of
spark plug leads, harnesses and ignition
rails with highest quality.
Adherence of delivery times has always
been the main target. The employee‘s
enormous flexibility and a weekly transfer shuttle between Kolberg and Celle put
us in the position to even satisfy customer rush orders in a very short period of
processing time.
Primarily just the combination between
the production in Celle and Kolberg made
MOTORTECH able to keep the level of
A-supplier for GE (General Electric) for so
many years.
On the road for MOTORTECH: the eagle carries our message:
„WE UPGRADE GAS ENGINES“ – from Celle to Kolberg and all
the way back – on a weekly basis – fast and reliable!
Thanks!
... to Krzysztof Akonom, Lukasz Ignaczak, Magda
Juralewicz and Lukasz Juralewicz (from left to right).
Not with standing the annual production holidays
of MOTORTECH Poland 4 employees agreed to
help in the German production for two weeks last
summer, as the assembly of ignition systems
ran at full speed inspite of the summer vacation
period.
Due to their experience the four Polish colleagues
could begin to work immediately in the qualified
assembly of coils and harnesses. The MOTORTECH
management sends special thanks to all of them
for their support and extraordinary performance.
Joe Downin, representative of
MOTORTECH distributor Kraft Power
from Ohio/USA, spent sometime
in Celle from the 2nd to the 6th of
August 2010 together with his family.
He informed himself about latest
technologies and products and joined
a technical training session at the
German MOTORTECH headquarter.
His wife Barbara and his daughter
Katie enjoyed their time with sightseeing and shopping in Celle and
surrounding. However, there was a
special highlight waiting for Katie. As
keeper of the College Soccer League
Chicago – the US female league – she
also could show her keeper performance in Wietze, close to Celle.Cotrainer Jörg Klindworth, MOTORTECH
Celle, set up contacts between Katie
and TSV Wietze. TSV trainer Ulrich
Busse had to push his boys, as Katie
Downin was in top condition. „It was
big fun“! so said Katie in the end.
And when her training starts again at
the end of August in Chicago, she will
be pretty much prepared.
MOTORTECH AMERICAS TO PICK UP SPEED
In spite of the still ongoing economic
crisis in the United States of America our
MOTORTECH subsidiary slowly picks up
speed. With a growth of 20 % in 2010 the
team has proven itself to be successful.
Ashley LeBlanc as Office Manager and
Accounting Department, Danielle Scott
responsible for order processing and
customer service and Joe Hinkel, taking
care of purchasing and warehousing,
have become a strong team, making
sure the customers, who order on a daily
basis, will be delivered promptly.
„A warehouse capacity with a value of
approx. 500.000 USD is our answer to
the American prejudice that Europeans
cannot provide prompt product support“
says Junior Director Robert Virchow. „We
are in a very good position to deliver, just
in time for the expected boom to come in
North America.”

After the expansion of the previous
years it finally became clear at the
end of 2009 that the currently used
inventory management system of
MOTORTECH GmbH could no longer
meet the requirements and demands
of a modern, flexible and processoriented company.
Inspite of the tough economic environment in spring 2010 MOTORTECH
announced a new ERP system and
after intensive research decided in
June to go for the ERP solution of the
proALPHA Software AG.
The requirements made by MOTORTECH GmbH and the overall concept
of proALPHA, with a clear focus on
production and logistics suited each
other perfectly.
Since June the ERP project has been
running on high speed. Thanks to
our engaged and highly motivated
MOTORTECH employees. The new system can already start on 1st of January 2011. Until this starting date all
data and processes must have been
transferred. The members of staff
will be trained intensively so that our
customers will not even notice the
internal system reorganization.
Introducing the new ERP system will
grant a clear improvement with regards to customer and supplier order
processing in future – as in the end
it is our goal to have a content and
happy customer!
* An ERP-system is a complex application software to
support efficient planning of resources (capital, current
assets or personnel) of a complete company.

For six years now Marcus Morig has been
a thrilled combat sportsman. Since 2008
he has been trained in the fighters-club
in Celle by Wolfgang Meyer, the former
German master of Kick-boxing.
Thaiboxing is a combat sport for men and
women, applicable as of 14 years of age
and a full contact combat sport, which
means without any special clothes for
protection. The training is split in three
major sections: technique, condition,
sparring.
„This kind of sport is perfectly suited as
balance to my office work, as it requires
condition as well as technique and intensive training“ says Morig. „Depending
on the training effort and intention you
can check out and expand your physical
limits with Thaiboxing.“
Hits are allowed to the head, body and
thighs. Special techniques of the Thai
boxing are e.g. the knee chop or elbow
drive; however, hits like these are not
allowed to the head in a real competition
due to the high risk of injury. Victory can
be achieved by points or knock-out.
CAUTION: DANGER OF CONFUSION!
Be careful, garbage men! Now you must
pay special attention, as a little bright
yellow Ford Ka squeezed itself between
the garbage tons. Danger of confusion
possible.
So: Hands off of the “black dragon”!
