Travel Information
Vienna is situated in the heart of central Europe and has direct flights from all major European and
International Cities.
To reach the city from Vienna-Schwechat Airport take an express train, airport bus or taxi. The airport
bus leaves every 20 minutes from 6 a.m. to midnight and goes to the City Air Terminal at the Vienna
Hilton Hotel and to the Vienna International Center (next to the Austria Center Vienna). From the train
stations (Westbahnhof, Südbahnhof, Franz-Josefs Bahnhof and Nordbahnhof), the city centre may be
reached by express train (Schnellbahn), underground or tram.
Important notice: In the morning of Sunday, May 16, 2004, the "Vienna City Marathon" is taking place
in Vienna. Please inquire at your hotel reception desk for any possible delays in leaving the city centre, in order to reach your plane in time.
Vienna
Vienna, with its about 2 million inhabitants is situated in the heart of Europe. Its geographic but mainly its geopolitical location has established Vienna after the Second World War as a centre for international meetings. It is a popular venue for conferences; moreover, it is one of the United Nations
Headquarters, also home to a number of other international organizations.

rich cultural heritage. Viennese writers, musicians, artists and scientists forged a new direction for the
modern world in every field.
Today Vienna offers old historical palaces and modern shopping centres, Austrian food and haute cuisine, Viennese coffee houses and Greek restaurants, opera performances and jazz sessions, classical concerts and open air festivals, antique shops and elegant boutiques – all these contrasts are harmonized
into something typically Viennese.

The average temperature in Vienna in May is +13–18°C (+55–64° F). Although this month is usually quite
