A spooky and special holiday
Eine Lerntheke zu Halloween auf zwei Niveaus
(Klassen 8/9)
Ein Beitrag von Konstanze Zander, Westerengel
alloween zählt zu den beliebtesten Festen bei
Jugendlichen.

Haunted houses
M9
At Halloween people build haunted houses to give visitors a spooky experience.
Haunted houses are believed to be inhabited by the ghosts of the people who
once lived there. Are you brave enough to have a look at a haunted house?
Task
Work together with a partner. Each of you gets a picture of a haunted house. Partner A
describes his picture. Partner B listens carefully, tries to find the differences between
his picture and writes them down. He or she can ask questions to find the differences.
Then swap roles! Afterwards compare the differences that you found.

Every
year on 31st October, something strange happens in the little city of
Broomsticktown near Witchfield. At the beginning of the day, everything

seems to be perfect and normal. People prepare for parties, cook dinner or
decorate their homes. Nobody likes to talk about the problems that come at
night. Each year they hope that it will be a peaceful Halloween, but it won’t be.

Tim Jones from New York heard about the strange stories of Broomsticktown
and decided to solve the problem. He arrived by train and checked into the
Grand Hotel near the graveyard. Tim was the only guest. He waited in his
