He is Professor for Work and Engineering Psychology at Darmstadt Technical University, Germany. He received CISM basic and advanced trainings. His research focus is on CISM, and other human factors. During his time at Dortmund University in 2003 he started feasibility studies on CISM in Air Traffic Control which was followed by a main study in 2005 including cost-benefit-analysis of CISM. Since 2009 he is professor at Darmstadt University promoting CISM in University education, including bachelor, master and diploma theses. Within this context he conducted a feasibility study concerning “cultural synergies in dealing with critical incidents- a joint CISM approach” from 2009-2011 with regard to different branches in Europe. As a steering member of the ICISF -European Office from 2004 – 2009 he was part of the organization of two ICISF-EO conferences in 2008 and 2009. From 2009- 2011 he gave scientific support and quality assurance of CISM trainings of the Bavarian Red Cross CISM training. The results of his studies were published in three languages especially those about intercultural differences, business benefits, and strategic impact of CISM. Following list demonstrates the significant impact of his 10 year engagement within the field of crisis response not only in Germany but also in European context on an academic level. Within the field of psychological research on crisis response programs in Germany he is a CISM pioneer who against all odds still succeeds supporting practitioners by surveys and studies.
