In the 11th century, monks were
growing grapes on the slopes above
Lake Geneva. Since then, generations
of winegrowers applied and developed
longstanding cultural traditions. Today,
this still thriving cultural landscape
covers 40 km along the lake shore
and includes 14 villages and small
towns. Through the well preserved
landscape and buildings, it demonstrates its evolution over almost a
millennia. It is therefore an outstanding example of a centuries-long
interaction between people and their
environment, developed to optimise
local resources so as to produce a
highly valued wine.
Bereits im 11. Jahrhundert kultivierten
Mönche an den steilen Hängen am
Genfersee ihre Weinreben. Generationen von Winzern haben hier die
einzigartige Terrassenlandschaft gestaltet, welche sich 40 Kilometer dem
See entlang erstreckt, und somit eine
der grössten zusammenhängenden
Weinbauregionen der Schweiz bildet.
Mit ihren 14 Dörfern und kleinen
Städten widerspiegelt Lavaux auf
eindrückliche Art die intensive Nutzung
des Weinanbaus sowie die Entwicklung
einer lebendigen Kulturlandschaft,
welche die Kontinuität und die
Entwicklung spezifischer kultureller
Traditionen erkennen lassen.

Lavaux, patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO – St-Saphorin
Au XIe siècle déjà, des moines
cultivaient ici la vigne sur d’étroites
terrasses soutenues par des murs
en pierre. Depuis, des générations
de vignerons respectueux des traditions ont entretenu et façonné cette
exceptionnelle mosaïque qui, sur
quelque 40 km, couvre les pentes
qui s’étendent le long du Léman. Ce
paysage culturel constitue l’un des
plus grands vignobles de Suisse et
intègre 14 villages bien préservés.
Il montre de manière éclatante son
évolution et son développement sur
près de 1’000 ans, grâce à une interaction équilibrée entre les habitants
et leur environnement.

Tous les lundis, de juillet à août, encadré
par un guide, vous rejoignez un port de
la région avec un bateau de la CGN. Vous
traversez ensuite le vignoble dans un train
touristique. Un verre vous sera servi au
milieu des vignes pour déguster un cru
du terroir. Le retour se fait à nouveau en
bateau vers votre point de départ.
Jeden Montag von Juli bis August legen Sie
– betreut von einem Reiseleiter – mit einem
Schiff der CGN von einem Hafen der Region
ab. Anschliessend durchqueren Sie das
Weinbaugebiet in einem touristischen
Zug. Man wird Ihnen mitten in den Weinbergen ein Glas servieren, damit Sie einen
Lavaux Wein degustieren können. Die Rückfahrt zu Ihrem Ausgangsort erfolgt wieder
mit dem Schiff.
Every Monday during July and August, in
the company of a guide, you can take a
CGN boat to one of the region’s harbours,
and then go on a trip through the vineyard
in a tourist train. Once you’re right in the
middle of the vineyard you will be served
a glass of one of the area’s vintage wines,
to enable you to consummate the occasion.
Your return journey will be by boat again to
your port of embarkation.
