In all applications in which strain gauge measuring technology is
used for the determination of forces and weights, different
components are combined for the measurement. The single
devices of the so-called "measurement chain" serve for the
admission of the measuring signal (sensors), to the capture and
amplification of this measuring value (strain gauge summing-up

visualisation of the measuring result (data logger, software and

HART-technology as innovative standard
Worldwide users have recognised the big advantages of the
HART-communication: there is no need to think about how
information can be accessed for the analysis of single field devices
or complete arrangements. With suitable mobile test devices, like
HART modems, calibrators and portable PCs, functional tests and
diagnoses can be performed simply and on a real-time basis,
hence production processes can be guaranteed.
In addition, the high compatibility - also to analogous wirings and the intuitive, menu-controlled start of operation / signal
analysis of HART-software for the application argues for this
technology in the measuring instrumentation.
Integration applicable to all measuring ranges
Quite early, Müller Industrie-Elektronik has relied on the HARTcommunication in the development of new products and on this
occasion, especially on the development of own transmitters. A
standardization was reached by the trans-sectoral integration of
these HART-Transmitters for several product lines. By now, it is
used in a wide spectrum of devices for the temperature,
pressure, level and force measuring technology.

analogen Verdrahtungen - und die intuitive, menügeführte
Inbetriebnahme / Signalanalyse über HART-Software für den
Einsatz dieser Technologie in der Messtechnik.
Messbereichsübergreifende Integration
Schon früh hat Müller Industrie-Elektronik bei der Entwicklung
neuer Produkte auf die HART-Kommunikation und hierbei
speziell auf die Entwicklung eines eigenen Transmitters gesetzt.
Durch die messbereichsübergreifende Integration dieses HARTTransmitters wurde eine Standardisierung für mehrere Produktlinien erreicht. Er wird inzwischen in einem breiten Spektrum an
Geräten für die Temperatur-, Druck-, Füllstand- und Kraftmesstechnik eingesetzt.
HART-transmitter as strain gauge version
As an OEM version for strain gauge processes, the transmitter of
the type MASG handles an input of 4-wire strain gauge bridge
with minimum resistance of 350 ohms with 1 … 4 mV/V of
sensitivity and puts out a current signal of 4 … 20 mA with a
superimposed HART-communication-signal to a 2-wire current
loop. The resolution amounts to 16 bit, the adjustment is applied
by HART-software at linear strain gauge signal using up to 10
interpolation points, the measuring frequency is around 10
measurements/s.

Als OEM-Version für DMS verarbeitet der Transmitter vom Typ
MASG als Eingang eine 4-Leiter DMS-Brücke mit minimalem
Widerstand von 350 Ohm bei 1…4 mV/V Empfindlichkeit und
gibt als Ausgang ein Stromsignal von 4…20 mA mit überlagertem HART-Kommunikationssignal an eine 2-LeiterStromschleife ab. Die Auflösung beträgt 16 bit, die Einstellung
erfolgt mit HART-Software bei linearem DMS-Signal über bis zu
10 Stützpunkte, die Messfrequenz liegt bei 10 Messungen/s.

The HART-Tool is a menu-driven program with graphical user
interface. It can be used for initial operation, configuration,
analysis of signals, data backup and documentation of HART
capable devices. Supported operating systems are Windows
2000, Windows XP and Windows 7. The connection is via
HART interface, with USB interface of a PC or well-established
hand-held HART communicators.

With analogous amplifiers you rely on a proven technology
which allows uncomplicated commissioning by an easy on-site
calibration without accessories, providing high, almost endless
resolution, quick measurements with strong EMV protection.

durch einfache Vor-Ort-Kalibrierung ohne weiteres Zubehör
unkomplizierte Inbetriebnahmen ermöglicht und die bei

With digital measuring amplifiers without HART you count on
factory preconfigured devices whose calibrating settings are
reproduceable "on site". These features can then be
transmitted by various interfaces using comfortable PC
software via any laptop to other devices. With suitable
amplifiers the setting and tare-function is also possible by
means of keys.
Digital load measuring system
The measuring amplifier DLM-HD is still used as multiple
proven, patented and TÜV-type-examination tested
technology for security and weighing technics applications in
systems of the AK 4.
The system with redundant designed limit value switch in the
relay module it offers a high degree of security and is used in
the range of lifting tools, crane arrangements and in the
theatrical construction. As an input signal, a strain gauge full
bridge is processed, the freely configureable analog output is
galvanically insulated.
Configuration software
User-friendly software for calibrating and evaluating for all 2wire and 4-wire devices is offered with customised design and
logo free of charge to every amplifier.

Mit digitalen Messverstärkern ohne HART setzen Sie auf werkseitig
vorkonfigurierte Geräte deren Kalibriereinstellungen "vor Ort"
reproduzierbar sind. Diese Features können dann über viele
Schnittstellen mittels komfortabeler PC-Software über jeden
Laptop an andere Geräte weitergegeben werden. Bei
entsprechenden Verstärkern ist die Einstellung und Tara-Funktion
auch mittels Tasten möglich.
Digitales Lastmesssystem
Der Messverstärker DLM-HD wird als vielfach bewährte,
patentierte und TÜV-Baumustergeprüfte Technologie nach
wie vor für den sicherheits- und wägetechnischen Einsatz in
Systemen der AK 4 verwendet.
Das System mit redundant ausgeführtem Grenzwertschalter
im Relaisteil bietet es ein hohes Maß an Sicherheit und kommt
im Bereich der Hebewerkzeuge, Krananlagen und im
Theaterbau zum Einsatz. Als Eingangssignal wird eine DMSVollbrücke verarbeitet und im frei konfigurierbaren AnalogAusgang galvanisch getrennt ausgegeben.

According to the high requirements of security-related systems in
the range of load monitoring, Müller Industrie-Elektronik offers
the new input amplifier "Safety Measuring Module SMM" which is
an especially designed component for these systems.

im Bereich der Lastüberwachung bietet Müller IndustrieElektronik mit dem neuen Eingangsverstärker "Sicherheits-MessModul SMM" eine speziell hierfür konzipierte Komponente an.
This circuit has been developed with long standing know-how in
the manufacturing of TÜV-approved measuring systems,
primarily for uses in theatre construction. In addition, it is
applicable in all ranges in which overload circuits are mandatory
and fulfils the safety standard SIL3 in combination with a SafetyPLC.
Diese Elektronik wurde mit langjährigem Know-how in der
Fertigung TÜV-geprüfter Messsysteme entwickelt, vorzugsweise
für Anwendungen in der Theaterbautechnik. Einsetzbar ist sie

The module is offered with 24 VDC power supply, strain gauge
or piezo-resistive full bridge input and two 4…20mA outputs
in several case constructions: for the Heavy Duty application,
for switch cabinet assembly, as an inline version or directly
integrated into load sensors.

The concept of the new modular SIM card electronics, the MS
series, is based on an innovative modular technology
conceived by Müller Industrie-Elektronik with modular,
individually and customised combinable electronic modules
in SIM card format. By the application of premanufactured
modules on a project-specific motherboard, the new modular
system allows the realisation of different industrial measuring
tasks in combination with customized software solutions.
Modulare SIM Card Series –
Innovation with potential!
Innovative core of the concept is the „fragmentation“ of the
hardware components into SIM card modules, i.e. the complete
circuit is disassembled in modular single assemblies. The typical
basic circuits (input, output, measuring amplifier, master
controller, interfaces, radio etc.) are made as single modules, can
be combined arbitrarily and are of "SIM card" design.
The motherboard of the respective customised industrial
measuring job contains the power supply and controller circuits
and uses the appropriate, well-proven mobile phone suitable
SIM card holders for the single electronic modules. By SIM card
connectors, the respective single modules can be applied fast
and secure to the motherboard.

Modulare SIM-Karten-Serie –

Innovativer Kern des Konzepts ist die "Aufsplittung" der
eigentlichen komplexen Hardwarekomponenten in Modulbauweise und im SIM-Karten-Format, d. h. die komplette Elektronik
wird in Einzelbaugruppen zerlegt. Die typischen Grundschaltungen (Eingang, Ausgang, Messverstärker, Master-Controller,
Schnittstellen, Funk usw.) werden in Einzelmodulen gefertigt,
beliebig kombiniert und in Form und Größe von "SIM-Karten"
umgesetzt.
Das Motherboard der jeweiligen kundenspezifischen
industriellen Messaufgabe verfügt neben der Stromversorgung
und der Controller-Elektronik über die entsprechenden, in
Mobiltelefonen millionenfach bewährten SIM-Karten-Halter für
die einzelnen Elektronikmodule. Per SIM-Karten-Steckverbindung lassen sich die jeweiligen Einzelmodule schnell und sicher
auf dem Motherboard verankern.

All modules communicate within the system via I2C interfaces.
Like every single assembly, the strain gauge module has its own
fixed and range-specific software and remains, regardless of
different system solutions, always the same. The master module
as a central processor unit is programmed always individually for
each application.

Wie jede Einzelbaugruppe hat auch das DMS-Modul eine
eigene, fixe und bereichsspezifische Software und bleibt,
unabhängig von unterschiedlichen Systemlösungen, immer

bei jeder Applikationen stets individuell programmiert.
Thereby the most different output solutions are possible in

Large display LDS as evaluation unit
Großanzeige LDS als Auswerteeinheit
In many applications in which loads are measured it is
inevitably to display the value directly and widely visible. As an
evaluation unit in the measuring chain, the LED large-display
LDS in the SlimLine design is the ideal solution for it.
In vielen Applikationen, in denen Lasten gemessen werden, ist
es notwendig diese direkt und weithin sichtbar zu
visualisieren. Als Auswerteeinheit in der Messkette ist die LEDGroßanzeige LDS im SlimLine-Design dafür die ideale Lösung.
The LDS, available with digit heights 57/100 mm, distinguishes
itself by up to 16-digit display in flat and compact construction
made of aluminium profiles with only 25 mm height. Thanks to
the high protection class IP 65, the operation is universal and
also meets the requirements for rough industrial surroundings.
Die LDS, erhältlich in den Ziffernhöhen 57/100 mm, zeichnet
sich durch bis zu 16-stelliger Anzeige in flacher und kompakter
Bauweise aus Aluminiumprofilen mit nur 25 mm Höhe aus.
Durch die hohe Schutzart IP 65 ist der Einsatz universell und
auch in rauer Industrieumgebung gegeben.
MODBUS and radio
The input signal of the large display is done basically via RS485
interface with MODBUS protocol or by radio module in the ISM
band 868 MHz. To transmit measured values for the evaluation,
different signal paths are possible:
The analog signal picked up by the load sensor is applied
directly to the measuring amplifier and hereafter via RS485
interface, e.g., to a LDS digital display.
A measuring amplifier with transceiver captures / digitizes
the signal of a directly connected sensor and transfers it via
radio, e.g., to a receiver with analog output or with USB
connection for use on the PC.
A battery-operated sensor with transceiver communicates
without delay directly with the large display, with a mobile data
acquisition using USB-operated radio receiver or on the data
management tool WPC-HA as a hand-held unit.

For easy linking and transfer of existing sensor standard signals
of 4 … 20 mA / 0 …10V, Müller Industrie-Elektronik offers an
analog interface module as optional component which
converts to RS485 or radio output and allows the trouble-free
connection with LDS large displays and corresponding
systems.

MODBUS und Funk
Die Ansteuerung der Großanzeige erfolgt grundsätzlich über
die RS485-Schnittstelle mit MODBUS-Protokoll oder über ein
Funkmodul im ISM-Band 868 MHz. Um Messwerte zur
Auswertung weiterzugeben, bieten sich dabei unterschiedliche Signalstrecken an:
Das vom Kraftsensor gemessene analoge Signal wird direkt
an den Messverstärker und weiter über RS485-Schnittstelle z.B.
an eine LDS-Digitalanzeige gegeben.
Ein Messverstärker mit Transceiver erfasst/digitalisiert das
Signal eines direkt angeschlossenen Sensors und überträgt es
per Funk z.B. an einen Empfänger mit Analogausgang oder mit
USB-Anschluss zum Betrieb am PC.
Ein batteriebetriebener Sensor mit Transceiver kommuniziert ohne Umwege direkt mit der Großanzeige, mit einer
mobilen Datenerfassung mit USB-Funkempfänger oder mit
dem Datenmanagement-Tool WPC-HA als Handgerät.
"Plug and Play" mit Analog-Konverter
Zur einfachen Anbindung und Übertragung bestehender
Sensor-Normsignale von 4…20 mA / 0…10 V bietet Müller
Industrie-Elektronik als Zubehörkomponente ein AnalogInterface-Modul, welches auf RS485 oder Funk-Ausgang
konvertiert und den problemlosen Anschluss an LDSGroßanzeigen und entsprechende Systeme ermöglicht.
