the 11.00am Mass today.
FLORES DE MAYO Many thanks to all who
helped organise, and participated in, last Sunday’s
wonderful celebration. There’s a splendid array of
photographs at www.leedscatholicpost.org.uk
CONFIRMATION Last Friday the Bishop confirmed
seven
young
people
from
the
Cathedral
congregation. We offer Maurice Aguoma, Bienvenue
Kayij, Cyndi Mayamba, Olivia Melody, Robert Myers,
Lucy Ndagira and Matthew O’Connor our good wishes
and prayers, and look forward to them taking their
part in the life of the cathedral. A big thanks to the
catechists who prepared them.
NEXT WEEKEND there’s a retiring collection for the
retired clergy of our diocese. Although there was a
successful appeal to create a capital fund a few years
ago, the lowering of interest rates has reduced the
income recently. You may use the envelopes among the
offertory envelopes, or those at the back of the cathedral.
THE FUNERAL MASS for Eric Sykes is at Christ the
King, Bramley, next Tuesday (9th) at 10.30am. His
body will be received into church on Monday at
7.00pm.
CATHEDRAL FABRIC
1.
During the preliminary work on the murals in
the Lady chapel, the Blessed Sacrament is reserved in
the War Memorial chapel in the north aisle. Things
will get back to normal this week, and you will then
be able to see how exquisite the restoration is so far.
This is possible due to the generosity of two donors.
The work will be completed in the autumn.
2.
The scaffolding to enable the organ to be
installed is now more or less in place, and the parts for
the organ will arrive soon. You may be interested to
see some pictures and details of the organ at:
dioceseofleedsmusic.org.uk/organs/leeds_cathedral.php
If you would like to be part of a small fundraising
group, please contact Luke Mee on (0113) 240
