CEMENT AND LIME
CONFERENCE • EXHIBITION • AWARDS 2009
The global economic slowdown has led everyone to
cut costs, and the cement and lime industries are
no exception. The use of alternative fuels is now
crucial for cement companies around the world,
allowing them to significantly cut their costs and in many cases allowing them to increase their
sustainability and green credentials at the same
time.
The 3rd Global Alternative Fuels for Cement and
Lime Conference will look at all aspects of the use
of alternative fuels: from the technical aspects of
handling, storage, conveying, comminution, firing
and combustion to the no-less-crucial areas of
legislation, emissions monitoring and community
interactions.
Attendance at the conference will bring you upto-date with the state-of-the-art in the alternative
fuels industry, give you an overview of the current
status of the sector and will allow superb networking
opportunities with key players in the industry

Architecturally speaking, Toronto
is an amalgam of different styles. In
the early 19th century, it took much
of its architectural inspiration from
the Georgian style. By the end of the
19th century, the city opted for the
heavier, bulkier lines of Richardsonian
Romanesque. At the turn of the 20th
century, the Toronto City Council
opted not to put a height restriction
on downtown construction as many
other cities had, thus giving rise to some
of the tallest buildings in the British
Commonwealth, including the 34-storey
Canadian Bank of Commerce. Of course,
these buildings have been surpassed in
recent years by the silhouettes that give
Toronto its unique skyline: the CN Tower,
Rogers Centre, Royal Bank Plaza, and the
TD Centre, to name a few.
