Allgemeines
Dieses Produkt ist zum Zeitpunkt seiner Entwicklung und Fertigung nach geltenden, anerkannten Regeln der Technik gebaut und gilt als betriebssicher.
Es können jedoch von diesem Gerät Gefahren ausgehen, wenn es von nicht fachgerecht
ausgebildetem Personal, unsachgemäß oder nicht bestimmungsgemäß, verwendet wird.
Beachten Sie die Normen und Vorschriften des VDE, der DIN, sowie die nachfolgenden
Sicherheitshinweise!
1.1
Sicherheitshinweise
Betreiben Sie den Konverter bestimmungsgemäß in unbeschädigtem und einwandfreiem
Zustand!
1.2
Normenkonformität
Der Konverter ist konform mit: EMC-Richtlinie 89/336/EEC, Niederspannungsrichtlinie 72/
23/EEC, Richtlinie 93/68 EEC, EN 55022 und EN 55024.
Gemäß DIN EN ISO 9001 entwickelt, gefertigt und geprüft.
1.3
Inhalt der Montage- und Installationsanleitung
Jede Person, die damit beauftragt ist, mit diesem Konverter zu arbeiten, muss die Betriebsanleitung vor Beginn der Arbeiten gelesen und verstanden haben.
1.4
Veränderungen und Umbauten
Zur Vermeidung von Gefährdungen und zur Sicherung der optimalen Leistung dürfen an
dem Gerät weder Veränderungen noch An- oder Umbauten vorgenommen werden, die
durch den Hersteller nicht ausdrücklich genehmigt worden sind.
1.5
Anforderungen an das Personal
An und mit dem Gerät darf nur autorisiertes und ausgebildetes Fachpersonal arbeiten. Als
Fachpersonal gilt, wer aufgrund seiner fachlichen Ausbildung, Kenntnisse und Erfahrungen
sowie Kenntnis der einschlägigen Bestimmungen die ihm übertragenden Arbeiten beurteilen
und mögliche Gefahren erkennen kann.

Arbeitssicherheit
Durch Befolgen der angegebenen Sicherheitshinweise und Anweisungen in dieser Betriebsanleitung können Personen- und Sachschäden während der Arbeit mit und an dem Gerät
vermieden werden.

Aufbau und Funktion
Der RS 232/USB-Konverter 4-fach erlaubt einen Anschluss von bis zu 4 EGA-Strängen
über serielle Schnittstelle (z. B. EGA-Stränge über RS232-Anschlussbox oder EGA-PCInterface 2), an einem freien USB-Port eines PCs mit der Visualisierungs-Software CGVision.
Der Konverter ersetzt so die RS232 PCI-Einsteckkarte 4-fach.

Montage
4.1
Sicherheitshinweise
Beachten Sie die für das Errichten und Betreiben von elektrischen Betriebsmitteln
geltenden Sicherheitsvorschriften, das Gerätesicherheitsgesetz sowie die allgemein
anerkannten Regeln der Technik.
4.2
Anschluss der seriellen Leitungen (DB9) der EGA-Stränge an den RS232/
USB-Konverter
Die seriellen Anschlussleitungen der EGA-Stränge über z. B. EGA/RS232-Interfacebox
werden auf der Rückseite des Konverters angeschlossen und über die Halteschrauben
im Stecker handfest fixiert. Die Zuordnung ist über die Beschriftung Port 1 bis Port 4
sichergestellt. Die COM-Ports werden während der Treiberinstallation automatisch vergeben und können direkt in der CGVision selektiert werden. Sind andere COM-Port
Nummerierungen gewünscht, so lassen sich diese, wie in 4.3 beschrieben, über ein
Konfigurations-Hilfsprogramm einfach ändern.
4.3
RS232/USB-Konverter, 4-fach, Treiberinstallation
Schließen Sie das USB-Kabel zum PC und zum RS232/USB-Konverter an und legen Sie
die beiligende CD ein. Wenn der Windows-Assistent „neue Hardware gefunden“ meldet,
wählen Sie bitte „automatisch installieren“.
Es wird nun ein passender Treiber für den RS232/USB-Konverter installiert. Nach der
Installation werden im Gerätemanager die neuen COM-Ports mit Nummerierung angezeigt:

Das Gerät ist nun mit diesen COM-Ports betriebsbereit. Möchten Sie die COM-Port
Zuordnungen ändern, so muss ein Konfigurations-Hilfsprogramm gestartet werden.
Führen Sie hierzu einen Doppelklick auf folgende edgeport.cab-Datei im Ordner Wink2k
aus:

Die Datei wird nun extrahiert (entpackt). Hierzu müssen Sie ein Zielverzeichnis
angeben, z. B. C:/temp.
Führen Sie nun in diesem Ordner die extrahierte edgeport.exe-Datei aus:

Schaltfläche: Konfiguration
Hier kann der Name des Konverters vorgegeben werden, sowie die COM-Port
Zuordnung geändert werden. Zum ändern der COM-Port Zuordnung, muss einfach nur
die neue COM-Port Nummer im entsprechenden Feld eingtragen werden, und mit OK
bestätigt werden.

Nach einem Klick auf OK wird der COM-Port umgehend auf COM-Port 15 geändert.
Bemerkung: Es dürfen keine COM-Ports doppelt belegt werden !
Bitte nehmen Sie in anderen Ordnern, z.B. ‘Port Flag Configuration’ keine
Änderungen vor, da dieses die Funktionsfähigkeit beeinträchtigen kann !
Die COM-Ports können mit Hilfe des Hyperterminals und der LEDs auf der RS232/
EGA-Interfacebox, bzw. dem EGA-PC-Interface-2 überprüft werden. Starten Sie hierzu
das Programm Hyperterminal von Windows und stellen folgende Parameter ein:

Stellen sie anschließend den zu testenden COM-Port ein, z.B. COM3 und starten die
Verbindung mit “anrufen” im Hyperterminal. Mit Druck auf eine Taste, z.B. Spacebar,
blinkt die grüne LED “Data Out” am entsprechendem EGA-Interface. Die Verbindung ist
dann in Ordnung.

Transport, Verpackung und Lagerung
5.1
Sicherheitshinweise
Achtung! Sachschaden!
Das Produkte kann durch unsachgemäßen Transport beschädigt oder zerstört werden!
5.2
Transportinspektion
Lieferung bei Erhalt auf Vollständigkeit und Transportschäden prüfen. Bei äußerlich erkennbarem Transportschaden Lieferung nicht oder nur unter Vorbehalt entgegen nehmen.
5.3
Verpackung
Wenn keine Rücknahmevereinbarung für die Verpackung getroffen wurde, Materialien nach
Art und Größe trennen und der weiteren Nutzung oder Wiederverwertung zuführen.
5.4
Lagerung
Packstücke bis zur Montage verschlossen und unter Beachtung der außen angebrachten Aufstell- und Lagermarkierungen aufbewahren.
Packstücke nur unter folgenden Bedingungen lagern:
- Nicht im Freien aufbewahren
- Trocken und staubfrei lagern

Wartung
Halten Sie die für Instandhaltung, Wartung und Prüfung von elektrischen Betriebsmitteln
geltenden Bestimmungen ein! Bei sachgerechtem Betrieb und unter Beachtung der
Montagehinweise und Umgebungsbedingungen ist keine ständige Wartung erforderlich.

Entsorgung
Beachten Sie bei der Entsorgung defekter Geräte die gültigen Vorschriften hinsichtlich
Recycling und Entsorgung. Kunststoffmaterialien sind mit entsprechenden Symbolen
gekennzeichnet.

General Information
This device is designed and built in conformity with the latest technical rules at the time of its
development and production, so it is safe to operate.
Danger maybe presented by the device, if it will be used for other than the intended purpose
and by unskilled personnel. Please observe the standards and regulations of the VDE, the
DIN as well as the following safety notes!
1.1
Safety Notes
The converter shall only be used for its intended purpose and in undamaged and perfect
condition!
1.2
Conformity with standards
Conforming to: EMC-directive 89/336/EEC, Low Voltage Directive 72/23/EEC, directive
93/68 EEC, EN 55022 and EN 55024.
Designed, manufactured and tested acc. to DIN EN ISO 9001.
1.3
Contens of operating instructions
Every person, ordered to work with the device, has to read the instructions carefully to
understand them before work begins.
1.4
Changes and modifications
To avoid danger and to assure optimum performance, changes and modifications to the
luminaire are not allowed, except when the manufacturer has approved them.
1.5
Personnel requirements
Only authorised and skilled personnel are allowed to work on and with the luminaire. Skilled
personnel refers to those with expert training, with knowledge and experience as well as
knowledge of the relevant regulations. He should be able to evaluate his work and recognise
the presence of danger.
1.6
Operational Safety
Observing the stated safety instructions and regulations can avoid damage to property and
people when working with the converter.

Installation and function
The RS 232/USB-converter permits a connection of up to 4 EGA-lines by serial interface
to a free USB-port of a PC with visualisation-software CGVision (e.g. EGA-lines by RS232connection box or EGA-PC-Interface 2).
4
Mounting
4.1
Safety Notes
For the mounting and operation of electrical apparatus, the respective national safety
regulations as well as the general rules of engineering will have to be observed.
4.2
Connection of the serial cables (DB9) of the EGA-lines to the RS232/USBconverter
The serial connection-cables of the EGA-lines via e. g. RS232/EGA-Interfacebox get
connected on the back side of the converter and fixed by the fixing screws in the plug.
The allocation is assured by the marking port 1 to port 4.
The COM-ports get assigned automatically during installation of driver and can be
selected directly in the CGVision.
When other COM-port-numbers are desired they could be changed - as explained in 4.3
- by a configuration-service-program.
4.3
RS232/USB-converter, 4-fold, installation of driver
Connect the USB-cable with the PC and with the RS232/USB-converter and insert the
enclosed CD. When the Windows-assistent notifies „new hardware found“, so select
„install automatically“.
Now, a fitting driver of the RS232/USB-converter is installed. After installation the new
COM-ports are displayed in the device-manager. (see picture 1)
The device is ready for operation with these COM-ports. If the allocation of the COMports should be changed, a configuration-service-program must be started.
To do so make a double-click on the edgeport.cab-file in the folder wink2k. (see picture 2)
The file now will be extracted. For this a destined folder must be started, e. g. C:/temp.
After that run the extracted edgeport.exe-file in this folder. (see picture 3)
A configuration-service-program appears. (see picture 4)
Button „information“
Gived detailed information on the connected RS232/USB-converter. (see picture 5)
Button „configuration“
The name of the converter can be dictated or the COM-port allocation can be changed.
For changing only enter the new COM-port number into the corresponding field and
confirm this with the button „OK“. (see picture 6)

After one click on „OK“ the COM-port is changed to COM-port 15, immediately.
Note: It is not permitted to connect COM-ports twice! Changes should not be done in
any other folder, e. g. „Port Flag Configuration“, because this can alloy operation!
The COM-ports can be checked by the help of the hyperterminals and the LEDs on the
RS232/EGA-interfacebox or the EGA-PC-Interface-2. Start up the program „hyperterminal“ from Windows and set the following parameters. (see picture 8)
After that, set up the COM-port which has to be checked, e. g. COM3, and start the
connection by „calling“ in the hyperterminal. By pressing one button, e. g. spacebar, the
green LED „Data out“ blinks at the corresponding EGA-interface. The connection is ok.
5
Transport, Packaging and Storage
5.1
Safety Notes
Attention! Damage to property!
The converter will be destroyed or damaged by improper transport!
5.2
Transport inspection
Check delivery on receipt for completeness and for transport damages, immediately. If
external damage is detected do not accept the delivery, except under protest.
5.3
Packaging
If no return - agreement exists for packing material separate it according to type and size for
further use.
Attention!
Packing material has to be recycled in an environmentally friendly way and according to
the local provisions governing disposal. If necessary, commission special recycling
company.
5.4
Storage
Keep packages closed up to mounting and observe the external arrangement and
storage notes. Store packages under the following conditions:
- not to be stored outside
- keep dry and dust-free

Servicing
Observe the relevant national regulations which apply to the maintenance, servicing and
check of electrical apparatus. On condition of an appropriate operation and of observing
the mounting instructions and environmental conditions, no permanent servicing will be
required. For replacement of the lamp see chapter „Installation“.
7
Recycling
When a defective apparatus is disposed of, the respective national regulations on waste
disposal and recycling will have to be observed. Plastic parts have been provided with
respective symbols.
