Year 11 German student work sample – Grade C
Letzes Jahr habe ich drei Monate in Deutschland verbracht. Ich habe mit meinem
guten Freund Markus in Sternberg gewohnt.

Zuerst habe ich alles selstamlich gefundet und es war schwierig, freunde zu
finden, aber nach ein Bischen Zeit war mein Deutsch besser und meine
Gastfamilie könnte mich besser verstehen und tolerieren. Markus's Eltern war
sehr streng und ich müsste jeden Tag mit einem alten Fahrad zur Schule fahren.
Es war sehr anstrengend, weil ich nicht Radfahren könnte!
Die Schule war schwieriger als Australischen Schulen, aber Markus hat mich viel
geholfen, obwohl er manchmal ungeduldig war. Das Essen in Deutschland ist

in some of the information provided. Kit has applied knowledge of grammatical concepts
with some consistency. The blog demonstrates Kit’s ability to bring together disparate
elements of the stimulus text into a coherent, if minimalist, whole. More detailed
references especially to regional food and a stronger sense of the town where he stayed
would have enhanced the response. The control of orthography and word order is
generally impressive. Modal verbs require some attention.
Kit’s response demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student
performing at a grade C standard.
