Die Natur und ihre Ressourcen fortwährend im Auge zu behalten und sich
für ihren Schutz stark zu machen, ist in der Philosophie von Hoffmann
Natural Eyewear fest verankert. Um dafür nur einige Beispiele zu nennen:
Holz ist ein nachwachsender Rohstoff und aus Nachhaltigkeitssicht ein
perfekter Werkstoff.
Für Naturhornbrillen verwendet Hoffmann Natural Eyewear das
Horn des asiatischen Wasserbüffels. Da der Büffel in seiner Heimat
verehrt und geschützt wird, werden die Hörner erst nach dem
natürlichen Ableben der Tiere genutzt. Außerdem werden selbst die
Hornspäne, die bei der Hornbearbeitung als Abfälle anfallen, als Naturdünger in der Landwirtschaft eingesetzt. Die Manufakturstätte wird
mittels Erdwärme beheizt beziehungsweise gekühlt.
An underlying principle of Hoffmann Natural Eyewear‘s philosophy is
being aware of nature‘s needs and resources and actively protecting
these. Wood is a renewable resource and, thanks to its sustainability,
a perfect material to work with.
Hoffmann Natural Eyewear uses the horn of the Asian water buffalo
for its natural horn frames. As the buffalo is honoured and protected
in its native lands, the horn only becomes available after the natural
demise of the animal. And even the horn shavings, which are a by-product
of the frame-making process, are used as a natural fertilizer. And
