Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt We train, so that you can give feedback to yourself when you are out on the road! Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt How do I drive? How should I drive? MERIT Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt 2 Kinds of Feedback: classic: I give you feedback: 1. This was good 2. That I could imagine better Advanced (3rd column of GDE Matrix): I support you, so that you can selfevaluate – by using open questions („problem oriented active learning„) MERIT Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt MERIT The development from teaching to coaching: Reach learning goal Accompany learning process Fixed Programme Individual development knowledge convictions Fixed learning contents Discuss experiences Only one truth Several perspetctives The pupil must listen and look The coach must listen and look The teacher shows (off) himself Coach is interested in the pupil and curiosity Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt MERIT My Methods as a Coach Coach: Client: I ask right questions You answer I am shown something You show me I am listening You are explaining Together we elaborate You decide Attention: Ask open questions ! (Why, When, Who, What…) instead of closed up quesitons (either – or, yes - no…) from „telling-culture“ to „coaching-culture“ (EU-Project ADVANCED) Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt MERIT Active learning methods – make the client feel responsible for the learning progress Problem oriented learning: The pupil detects the problems, not the trainer Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt Coaching is a learning method, not a teaching method! Coaching is a method on how to work, not on what the content is! The coachee acquires the facts, not from the coach but from within himself, stimulated by the coach! Coaching can take place in moments or in longer terms! It is easier to learn coaching skills than to break with teaching skills („Once a teacher always a teacher!?“) Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt We together elaborate the arguments for your decision. But you evaluate and you decide. Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt Goals of Coaching: In sport und business: to be best (training to win) For road safety: to fit best (training, to fit best in traffic – in a social sense ) Coaching focuses on future possibilities, not past mistakes. Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt Goals of Coaching: The coachee acquires the facts, not from the coach but from within himself, stimulated by the coach! The more active I am involved in the learning process the better I identify with the learning facts. The learning facts in the sense of convictions are more stable! Hence, Coaching is an optimal learning method. It takes more time, but guarantees a better identification! The big Challenge of Coaching: The art of coaching is to kick the student out of the role of passive consuming into active producing! Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit Institut Gute Fahrt Methods of Coaching: Leading by asking questions: Open „W“ - Questions (Why, What, Who, Where, When…) Instead of closed up questions (yes – no, either - or…) Key principals: 1. Not the Coach evaluates but the coachee! 2. Not the message which is delivered, but the message which is elaborated and received by the coachee that counts! Gregor BARTL www.gutefahrt.at/merit !
