Private university with 4,500 students and 20 majors. The Department of Social and
Behavioral Sciences is comprised of over 1000 students and over 30 faculty members.
Teaching activities
• Several undergraduate and graduate level courses taught between 2000-2013
(one semester each), namely: Theoretical Systems of Psychology (I and II); Cultural
Psychology; History of Psychology; Epistemology and Psychology; Constructivist and
Systemic Therapies; Clinical and Health Psychology; Psychopathology and Clinical
Psychology along the Life Cycle; Theories of Personality; Psychology of Emotions.
• Supervision of 5 per year in their practicum in Clinical and Health Psychology.
• Chaired the research and writing of 5 master thesis per year.
Main management activities in the university
2010 – present: Head of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences,
responsible for 7 programs (3 Programs of “Licenciaturas” and 4 Master Programs)
2007- Present: Head of the Masters’ Program in Clinical and Health Psychology
2006: Responsible leader for the development of a new Masters’ Program in
Clinical and Health Psychology and its proposal to the Portuguese Ministry of Higher
Education (approved in November 2006)
2002- 2010: Head of the BSc. Program in Psychology (“Licenciatura”), elected
every year by his peers and responsible for the adaptation of this program to the
European “Process of Bologne”
Research management activities at ISMAI (Unidep/CINEICC)
2003-Present: Founding member of ISMAI’s research centre in psychology
(Unidep) and involvement in different research projects.

2003-Present: Leader of the research group named GEDI/Grupo de Estudos em
Dialógica e Identidade (Group of Studies on Dialogic and Identity).
2007: Co-responsible leader for a protocol between Unidep (ISMAI) and
CINNEIC (Department of Psychology, Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal), concluding
in a fusion of the two centres in a single one, with more than 20 senior researchers in
psychology, recognized by the FCT (Foundation for the Science and Technology).
2007-Present: Main Investigator of a research group on “Social-cultural
psychology, social cognition and health” of CINEICC/Unidep, compounded by 14
PhDs and almost 100 Master and PhD students.

“Decentering and change processes” (ISMAI/Universidade de Coimbra). This project
involves cooperation with multiple international scientific sites and it aims to study the
process of decentering based on qualitative and idiographic methodologies
(ISMAI/Universidade de Coimbra).
2010-2012: Member of the research team in the project “GPS – Generating social
pathways”, leaded by Prof. Pinto Gouveia, University of Coimbra, devoted to the
intervention with antisocial personality disorder. Founded by the FCT with a grant of
76 116€
2007-2010: Researcher in the project “Narrative change in psychotherapy”,
leaded by Prof. Miguel Gonçalves, Universidade do Minho. This research project is
based in a socio-cultural and developmental perspective and it aims to unveil the
complex dynamics of change in processes of psychotherapy. It is supported with a FCT
grant of 135 000€.
