Designed by PROMONTORIO ARCHITECTS, for the banking group ESPIRITO SANTO, the Victoria is probably the finest hotel golf resort in Iberia. Designed as an
allusive homage to the splendour of the pre-war first grand hotels, the Victoria aims to recreate a kind of Gesamtkunstwerk where architecture and art come together
in unity.
The agency was invited to bring together a series of galleries and their represented artists in addition to site-specific projects, establishing a meaningful dialogue with
both the architects and the interior designers.
In addition to the agency, the galleries involved were Cristina Guerra, Pedro Cera and Pedro Oliveira. Besides the precast panels on the facades by Pedro Calapez,
Gabriela Albergaria, created a lobby sculpture in the form of an “un-natural tree” and wallpaper drawings for the conference centre and meeting rooms; and Mariana
Viegas recreated a golf course atmosphere on the club-bar by a photographic system of transparent film backlit by large wall-mounted light boxes. Other artists
included photography by Nuno Cera and Adelina Lopes, golf-themed neons and glass paintings by João Louro, and finally, all across the hotel, a series of
wall-mounted vinyl prints of geometric variations by Ricardo Valentim.
O novo hotel Tivoli Victoria, projectado pelo PROMONTORIO, para o grupo financeiro ESPIRITO SANTO, é provavelmente o melhor golf resort da península ibérica.
Concebido numa homenagem alusiva ao esplendor dos grandes hotéis dos anos 20, o Victoria procura recriar o espírito de uma Gesamtkunstwerk (obra de arte total)
onde a arte, a arquitectura e os interiores se encontram numa visão holística do espaço.
A Agência foi convidada para juntar um conjunto de galerias e seus artistas representados e desenvolver um conjunto alargado de projectos site-specific em
colaboração com os arquitectos e interior designers.
Além da Agência, as galerias envolvidas foram Cristina Guerra, Pedro Cera e Pedro Oliveira. A acrescentar aos 38 painéis de betão moldado das fachadas criados
por Pedro Calapez, Gabriela Albergaria, criou uma ambiciosa escultura para o lobby sob a forma de uma artificializada a partir de enxertos diversos enxertos de
diferentes árvores. Esta mesma artista criou também desenhos editados em papel-de-parede para o centro de conferências e salas de reunião. Mariana Viegas
recreou a atmosfera do campo de golfe em fotografias editadas em duratrans e aplicadas em grandes caixas de luz para o club-bar do hotel. No projecto do Hotel
Victoria, incluem-se ainda fotografias de Nuno Cera e Adelina Lopes, néones e pinturas sob vidro sob temas de golfe de João Louro, e finalmente uma série de vinis
de Ricardo Valentim de diferentes padrões e variações geométricas aplicados sobre as paredes dos corredores e zonas de passagem.
