10 Hot Spots in Lisbon.
6 FEIRA DA LADRA
On Tuesdays and Saturdays,
this flea market is the place for
hunters and gatherers to snap
up anything from handicrafts to
clothing, from accessories and
books to antiques. A visit
to nearby São Vicente church
offers some calm after the
hustle and bustle of the market.
1 MIRADOURO DA
SENHORA DO MONTE
This vantage point is not one of
the best known, but absolutely
one of the most beautiful. From
here you have a spectacular view
over the roofs of the Mouraria
quarter to the convent church
Convento do Carmo – even
without a sunset.
7 MERCADO DA RIBEIRA
2 THE BEST NATAS
This covered market has sold
vegetables and fish since 1892.
The annex, opened in 2014,
houses a paradise of tempting
street food. Thirty of the newer
top restaurants serve up a
smorgasbord of the world’s
cuisine, from traditional shellfish dishes to veggie burgers.
3 CORTIÇO & NETOS
There are colourful ceramic tiles
on facades all over Lisbon’s old
town. This shop, at Calçada de
Santo André 66, sells them in all
variations. corticoenetos.com

in Lisbon.
From a fabulous surf beach to the
tastiest pastries: These are the spots
in and around Lisbon that we were
especially taken with.
4 LXFACTORY
Once there was a textile factory
here, but today these warehouses in the Alcântara district
have been taken over by artists
and artisans. The huge grounds
are now home to studios,
galleries, shops and cafés. The
Factory becomes an experimental platform for cultural events
at evenings and weekends.

5 SEVEN HILLS BIKE TOUR
The most elegant solution for scaling
the city’s notorious seven hills: e-bikes.
The Seven Hills Electric Bike Tour takes
you on a three-hour excursion – starting
at the Baixa-Chiado metro station,
mornings or afternoons – to all the key points
of interest. It’s best to book in advance on the internet
(cost is around €30). viator.com

8 EPIC SURF SCHOOL
If you have never stood on a
surfboard, this is the place to
start. The Epic Surf School,
located south of the city on the
Costa da Caparica beach (shuttle transport is available), offers
courses all year round – also for
advanced surfers, naturally.
9 FADO OPEN STAGE
Plaintive fado music is especially
celebrated at the Tasca do Jaime
restaurant in the Rua da Graça
during the afternoon, in an
intimate, authentic setting.
10 CLUB LUX FRÁGIL
House and techno lovers dance
the night away at the popular
Lux. Internationally famous DJs
show off their artistry two floors
up. Unforgettable: the grand
terrace and ocean just outside
the club entrance. luxfragil.com

Portugal’s pastéis de Nata have
long since won over the world
beyond its borders. Where do
these crispy custard tarts taste
best? At the small bakery
A Chique De Belém,
located at Rua Da
