 WARNING: Genteel is designed for single
user only. Never share Genteel or lancets. Using
Genteel, any of its parts, or any lancing device
on multiple individuals may increase the risk of
transmission of blood-borne pathogens.
Always wash your hands with soap and water
before and after handling Genteel to prevent
the transfer of blood-borne viruses or infectious
agents.
 PRECAUTION: Always follow the instructions
provided with your meter for blood glucose
testing.
Do not store Genteel in high temperatures above
150°F (65.5 C°), typical of the dashboard
of a car on a hot, sunny day with the windows
rolled up.
For the maximum in infection prevention, always
use a new lancet for each test.

The Genteel Lancing Device is a lancet holder
for drawing capillary blood from the fingertip or
alternate body sites for blood glucose testing or
other testing requiring small amounts of blood.
The Genteel Lancing Device is for Single Patient

SETTING UP GENTEEL FOR USE

Alcohol swab and/or tissue to clean test site
TESTING FROM THE FINGERTIP
1.Select area to be lanced and wipe with an
alcohol swab and/or tissue.
2.Cock Genteel by pushing in the
-k Push
Cap, taking care not to hold the
-f Activation
Button while priming (you will hear a click if
Genteel is cocked correctly).
 PRECAUTION: Do not hold onto the activation
button while cocking genteel, as this will disengage
the locking mechanism and Genteel will not cock.
3.Remove the
-b Nozzle by twisting
anticlockwise, then pull it off.
4.Insert a new,
-c sterile, standard lancet.
Carefully twist off its protective cover and save
for lancet disposal.
5.Replace the
-b Nozzle by lining up the body’s
pins with the Nozzle slots and rotate clockwise.
7.Press the
-f Activation Button and continue to
hold firmly on the test site. Count to 10 or until
you see a blood drop form when you look inside
the
-b Nozzle window, whichever comes first.
8.Release the
-f Activation Button.

6.Place Genteel gently, but firmly, against the
fleshy side portion of any of your fingers. Look
to be sure there are no spaces between the
-a
Contact Tip and your skin.

9.Pull Genteel away from your skin. Observe blood
draw.

Button before removing Genteel from your skin
or blood may smear inside the
-b Nozzle/

REMOVING THE LANCET
1.Cock Genteel by pushing in the
at the back of the device.
2.Twist and take off the
-k Push Cap
-b Nozzle.
3.Place the protective cover of the lancet on a hard
surface and carefully push the lancet needle into it.
4.Once the needle is safely inside the protective
cover, the lancet can be removed from Genteel
and disposed of properly, as per your local
regulations on the Sharps disposal.
HOW TO KNOW IF A LANCET WILL
FIT WITH GENTEEL
SHAPE
Is the base of the lancet square?

Genteel was designed to work with most square
shaft lancets.

Does the lancet fit and stay in the Shuttle, even if
you shake the device? SIZE
Remove the Contact Tip from the Nozzle. Hold
Nozzle with the small side up. Drop the lancet
down through the Nozzle. Does the lancet pass all
the way through?
If your lancet does not pass these three tests, it
will not work with Genteel. However, passing these
tests only means it will fit into Genteel’s Shuttle, but
does not guarantee its overall quality or that the
needle size is uniform.
 PRECAUTION: For the maximum in infection
prevention, always use a new lancet for each test.
CHOOSING AND INSTALLING THE
CONTACT TIP
The Genteel lancet holder comes with 6 Contact
Tips, different in color and thickness. They range
from #1/thickest (Blue), #2 (Yellow), #3 (Green), #4
(Clear), #5 (Orange) through #6/Thinnest (Violet).
These thickness differences allow you to adjust the
depth of penetration of the lancet. To minimize
discomfort, use the shallowest depth (thickest,
lowest number) Contact Tip that still produces the
proper amount of blood.
Genteel comes pre-installed with the Blue #1
Contact Tip. This is the thickest Contact Tip, and
allows for the shallowest depth penetration. We
recommend that you try the BLUE factory-installed
Contact Tip the first time you use Genteel.
Changing the Contact Tip to a higher number will
allow a deeper puncture depth.
1.Place the Contact Tip on a clean, hard, flat
surface, like a tabletop.
2.There are two sides to the Contact Tip—the
smooth side that goes against your skin, and the
side with the grooves that goes onto the Nozzle.
Ensure that the side with the grooves is facing

up. Use a slight back and forth (rotating) motion
to gently push the Nozzle flat into the Contact
Tip. The lip on the Nozzle goes into the groove
on the Contact Tip.
3.The Contact Tip may also be installed by
stretching it over the Nozzle.
ALTERNATE SITE TESTING
Alternate site testing means using a part of your
body other than fingertips to obtain blood for
blood sugar testing.
 PRECAUTION: Always check with your
physician to see if and when alternate site testing is
right for you. If alternate site testing is right for you,
follow Steps 1-9, in the same manner as shown in
“Testing from the Fingertip” above.
CARING FOR GENTEEL
ENGLISH
 PRECAUTION: Once every two weeks, or every
75 uses, whichever comes first, or more often, if
visibly contaminated, clean Genteel and flush out
to help prevent the build-up of contaminants.
Clean by wiping the outside of the lancet holder
with a soft cloth with mild soap and warm water.
After wiping, allow Genteel to air dry completely.
Also, flush out Genteel as per figure
and
flushing instructions below.

To help prevent the transfer of blood-borne
viruses or infectious agents, after every test use a
disinfectant on Genteel. We recommend wiping
the lancet holder, including the inside and outside
of the Nozzle and Contact Tip, with 70% isopropyl
alcohol. After wiping, allow Genteel to air dry
completely.
 NOTE: To maintain Genteel’s superior
performance, grit and grime, such as animal hair
and other contaminants must be periodically
cleared out of the working mechanism through
proper flushing.
Two Indications That Genteel May Need To Be
Flushed Out:
1.Will not latch: The
-k Push Cap is pushed in
all the way, and even though the
-f Activation
Button is not being pressed, the Push Cap pops
outward.
2.Will not hold a vacuum: A cocked Genteel is
placed against the skin, the
-f Activation
Button is pushed and held, but the
-i Vacuum
Loss Indicator red stripe becomes visible before
finger is lifted off the
-g Hole in the Activation
Button.
Proper Flushing Out Of Genteel
Twist off and remove the back end (called the
-h Piston Assembly). Flush it with fast-running
warm to hot water, especially around the “O-ring.”

For the absolute maximum in infection prevention,
after each test, use a disinfectant on Genteel to
help prevent the transfer of blood-borne viruses
or infectious agents. Wipe the lancing device,
including the inside and outside of the Nozzle and
Contact Tip, with 70% isopropyl alcohol. After
wiping, allow Genteel to air dry completely.

Run warm to hot water into the Genteel tube
and out the Nozzle while repeatedly pressing the
Activation Button.

PREPARAR GENTEEL PARA USARSE

Genteel se diseñó para trabajar con la mayoría de

¿La lanceta se ajusta a la lanzadera y se mantiene

TAMAÑO
Quite la punta de contacto de la boquilla.
Sostenga la boquilla con el lado estrecho hacia
arriba. Deje caer la lanceta a través de la boquilla.
¿La lanceta la recorre completamente?
Si su lanceta no pasa estas tres pruebas, no
funcionará con el Genteel. Sin embargo, pasar
estas pruebas sólo significa que encajará en la
lanzadera del Genteel, pero no garantiza su calidad
general o que el tamaño de la aguja sea uniforme.
ELEGIR E INSTALAR LA PUNTA DE
CONTACTO
El portalancetas de Genteel viene con 6 puntas
de contacto, distintas en color y espesor. Van del
#1/más gruesa (azul), #2 (amarillo), #3 (verde),
#4 (transparente), #5 (naranja) hasta el #6/la más
delgada (violeta). Estas diferencias de espesor le
permiten ajustar la profundidad de la penetración

de la lanceta. Para minimizar las molestias, use la
punta de contacto de profundidad más superficial
(número más grueso, más bajo) que produzca la
cantidad adecuada de sangre.
Genteel viene con la punta de contacto azul #1
preinstalada. Es la punta de contacto más gruesa
y permite la penetración de profundidad menos
profunda. Le recomendamos que pruebe la punta
de contacto AZUL instalada de fábrica la primera
vez que use el Genteel.
Cambiar la punta de contacto por un número
más alto permitirá una mayor profundidad de la
punción.
Instalación de la punta de contacto en la boquilla
1.Coloque la punta de contacto sobre una
superficie limpia, dura y plana, como sería una
mesa.

2.La punta de contacto tiene dos lados: el lado
liso, que va contra su piel, y el lado con las
ranuras que va en la boquilla. Asegúrese de que
el lado con las ranuras esté hacia arriba. Use
un ligero movimiento hacia adelante y hacia
atrás (de rotación) para empujar suavemente la
boquilla de modo que quede plana en la punta
de contacto. El reborde de la boquilla va en la
ranura de la punta de contacto.

3.La punta de contacto también puede instalarse
estirándola sobre la boquilla.
PRUEBAS EN PUNTOS ALTERNOS
Pruebas en puntos alternos significa utilizar una
parte de su cuerpo distinta de las yemas de los
dedos a fin de obtener sangre para hacer una
prueba de azúcar en sangre.
 PRECAUCIÓN: Siempre consulte con su
médico para ver si hacer pruebas en puntos
alternos es adecuado para usted.
Si las pruebas en puntos alternos son adecuadas
para usted, siga los pasos 1-9, del mismo modo
que se muestra en “Pruebas en la punta de los
dedos”.
CUIDADO DE GENTEEL
 PRECAUCIÓN: Una vez cada dos semanas,
o cada 75 usos, lo que ocurra primero, o más
a menudo si está visiblemente sucio, limpie el
Genteel y enjuáguelo
para ayudar a prevenir
la acumulación de suciedad. Limpie pasando
por el exterior del portalancetas un paño suave
con agua tibia y un jabón suave. Después de
limpiarlo, permita que el Genteel se seque al aire
completamente. También enjuague el Genteel
según la figura
y las instrucciones de enjuagado
que aparecen abajo.
 NOTA: Para mantener el rendimiento superior
del Genteel, la arena y la suciedad, como serían
el pelo de animales y otros contaminantes, deben
despejarse periódicamente del mecanismo
funcional enjuagándolo correctamente.
Dos Indicaciones De Que Genteel Puede Tener

Enjuagado Correcto Del Genteel
Gire para separar y quite el extremo trasero
(llamado
-h Conjunto del Pistón). Enjuáguelo
con agua entre tibia y caliente que fluya
rápidamente, en especial alrededor de la “junta
tórica”.

Para el máximo nivel absoluto en prevención de
infecciones, después de cada prueba, use un

la boquilla y la punta de contacto, con alcohol

Le dispositif de prélèvement Genteel est un portelancette servant à prélever du sang capillaire de
l’extrémité d’un doigt ou à d’autres endroits du
corps pour tester la glycémie ou effectuer d’autres
tests nécessitant de petites quantités de sang de
prélèvement.
Le dispositif de prélèvement Genteel est
uniquement destiné à un usage patient unique.

PRÉPARER LE DISPOSITIF GENTEEL

PRÉLÈVEMENT SUR L’EXTRÉMITÉ
D’UN DOIGT
1.Sélectionnez la zone à cibler et passez un chiffon
et/ou tampon imbibé d’alcool.
2.Armez le Genteel en enfonçant le capuchon de
poussée
-k, en veillant à ne pas maintenir
le bouton d’activation
-f appuyé pendant
l’amorçage (vous entendrez un clic si le Genteel
est correctement armé).
3.Retirez la buse
-b en tournant dans le sens
contraire des aiguilles d’une montre.
4.Insérez une nouvelle lancette standard stérile
-c. Retirez délicatement le capuchon de
protection en le faisant pivoter (celui-ci devra
être jeté).
5.Replacez la buse
-b en alignant les goupilles

 PRÉCAUTIONS: Ne pas maintenir le bouton
d’activation appuyé pendant l’armement de
genteel, étant donné que cela désengagera
le mécanisme de verrouillage et le genteel ne

6.Placez le Genteel délicatement, mais fermement,
contre la partie latérale charnue d’un doigt.
Assurez-vous qu’il n’y ait aucun espace entre
l’embout de contact
-a et la peau.
7.Appuyez sur le bouton d’activation
-f et
maintenez fermement la position sur le site de
prélèvement. Comptez jusqu’à 10 ou jusqu’à ce
que vous voyez une goutte de sang se former
à travers la fenêtre de la buse
-b, selon la
première éventualité.
8.Relâchez le bouton d’activation
-f.
9.Détachez le Genteel de la peau. Observez le
prélèvement de sang.
 REMARQUE : Retirez votre doigt du bouton
d’activation
-f avant de retirer le Genteel de
la peau afin d’éviter que du sang ne pénètre à
l’intérieur de la buse

RETIRER LA LANCETTE
1.Armez le Genteel en enfonçant le capuchon de
poussée
-k à l’arrière du dispositif.

3.Placez le capuchon de protection de la lancette
sur une surface dure et insérez-y délicatement
l’aiguille de la lancette.
4.Une fois l’aiguille insérée, la lancette peut être
retirée du Genteel et éliminée correctement,
conformément aux réglementations locales
relatives aux objets perforants ou tranchants.
COMMENT SAVOIR SI UNE
LANCETTE SERA COMPATIBLE AVEC
LE GENTEEL ?
FORME
La base de la lancette est-elle carrée ?
Le Genteel a été conçu pour s’adapter à la plupart
des lancettes à tige carrée.
COMPATIBILITÉ
La lancette s’intègre-t-elle bien à la navette et
reste-t-elle bien en place, même si vous secouez le
dispositif ? TAILLE
Retirez l’embout de contact de la buse. Tenez la
buse, petit côté vers le haut. Insérez la lancette
dans la buse. La lancette passe-t-elle bien ?
Si votre lancette ne satisfait pas à ces trois
tests, elle n’est pas compatible avec le Genteel.
Toutefois, ces tests indiquent seulement qu’elle
logera dans la navette du Genteel, mais ne garantit
pas sa qualité globale ni l’uniformité de la taille
d’aiguille.
CHOISIR ET INSTALLER L’EMBOUT DE
CONTACT
Le porte-lancette Genteel inclut 6 embouts de
contact, de couleur et de taille différentes : N°
1 (bleu) (taille max.), N° 2 (jaune), N° 3 (vert), N°
4 (transparent), N° 5 (orange), N° 6 (violet) (taille
min.). Ces différences de taille vous permettent

d’ajuster la profondeur de pénétration de la
lancette. Afin de minimiser l’inconfort, utilisez
l’embout de contact à profondeur minimale (taille
maximale, plus petit numéro) qui puisse produire la
quantité de sang requise.
L’embout de contact N° 1 (bleu) est préinstallé
sur le Genteel. Il s’agit de l’embout de contact le
plus gros, et permet une pénétration à profondeur
minimale. Nous vous conseillons d’essayer
l’embout de contact préinstallé BLEU pour le
premier emploi.
Vous obtiendrez une pénétration plus poussée en
remplaçant l’embout de contact par un embout
portant un numéro supérieur.
Installer l’embout de contact sur la buse
1.Placez l’embout de contact sur une surface
plane, dure et propre, telle qu’une table.

2.L’embout de contact comporte deux faces
latérales – la face lisse qui vient en contact
avec la peau, et la face rainurée qui s’attache
à la buse. Assurez-vous que la face rainurée
est orientée vers le haut. Effectuez un léger
mouvement de va-et-vient (rotation) pour
pousser doucement la buse uniformément dans
l’embout de contact. Le rebord de la buse vient
se loger dans la rainure de l’embout de contact.

3.L’embout de contact peut aussi être installé en
l’étirant par-dessus la buse.
PRÉLÈVEMENT SUR SITE ALTERNATIF
Le prélèvement sur site alternatif implique une
partie du corps autre que le bout des doigts
pour prélever du sang à des fins de contrôle
glycémique.
 PRÉCAUTIONS: Consultez toujours votre
médecin pour vérifier si et quand un prélèvement
de ce type convient.
Si tel est le cas, suivez les étapes 1 à 9, tel
qu’indiqué à la section « Prélèvement sur le bout
d’un doigt » (voir plus haut).
ENTRETIEN
 PRÉCAUTIONS: Une fois toutes les deux
semaines, ou toutes les 75 utilisations, selon la
première éventualité ou plus fréquemment en cas
de signes visibles de saleté, nettoyez le Genteel
et vidangez
pour éviter toute accumulation
de saleté. Nettoyez en essuyant l’extérieur du
porte-lancette à l’eau tiède, avec un chiffon
doux imprégné de savon doux. Laissez ensuite le
Genteel sécher à l’air libre. Vidangez également
le Genteel conformément à la figure
et aux
instructions de vidange ci-dessous.
 REMARQUE : Pour préserver la performance
supérieure du Genteel, poussières et saletés
(telles que poils d’animaux et autres contaminants)
doivent être périodiquement éliminées du
mécanisme de fonctionnement par une vidange
appropriée.
FRANÇAIS
Afin d’éviter la transmission de virus hématogènes
ou d’agents infectieux, utilisez un désinfectant sur
le Genteel après chaque prélèvement. Nous vous
conseillons de nettoyer le porte-lancette, y compris
l’intérieur et l’extérieur de la buse et de l’embout
de contact, avec de l’alcool isopropylique à 70 %.
Laissez ensuite le Genteel sécher à l’air libre.

 PRECAUZIONE: non premere il pulsante di
attivazione mentre si sta inclinando genteel, questo
disimpegna il meccanismo di blocco e il genteel
non si inclina.
4.Inserire una nuova lancetta
-c sterile standard.
Torcere con cautela la copertura protettiva e
conservarla per lo smaltimento della lancetta.
5.Sostituire l’ugello
-b allineando i perni del
corpo con gli alloggiamenti dell’ugello e ruotare
in senso orario.

6.Posizionare il Genteel delicatamente, ma
saldamente, contro la parte carnosa dal lato di
una delle dita. Assicurarsi che non vi siano spazi
tra la punta di contatto
-a e la vostra pelle.
7.Premere il pulsante di attivazione
-f e
continuare a tenere saldamente sul sito del test.
Contare fino a 10 o fino al momento in cui non
si vedrà formarsi una goccia di sangue quando
guardate all’interno della finestra dell’ugello
-b, qualunque dei due eventi si verifichi per
primo.
8.Rilasciare il pulsante di attivazione
-f.
9.Rimuovere il Genteel dalla pelle. Osservare il
campione di sangue.
 NOTA: togliere il dito dal pulsante di attivazione
-f prima di rimuovere il Genteel dalla pelle o il
sangue macchierà la parte interna dell’ugello

4.Una volta che l’ago è al sicuro dentro il coperchio
di protezione, la lancetta può essere rimossa
dal Genteel e smaltita correttamente, secondo
le normative locali sullo smaltimento delle parti
taglienti.

La base della lancetta è quadrata?
Il Genteel è concepito per funzionare con la
maggior parte delle lancette squadrate.
MISURA
La lancetta si adatta e rimane nella capsula, anche
se si agita il dispositivo?
DIMENSIONE
Rimuovere la punta di contatto dall’ugello. Tenere
l’ugello con la parte piccola verso l’alto. Far cadere
la lancetta verso il basso attraverso l’ugello. La
lancetta passa fino in fondo?
Se la lancetta non supera questi tre test, non
funzionerà con il Genteel. Tuttavia, superare questi
test significa solo che si adatta alla capsula del
Genteel, ma non garantisce la sua totale qualità o
che le dimensioni dell’ago siano uniformi.
 PRECAUZIONE: Per prevenire al massimo le
infezioni, usare sempre una nuova lancetta per ogni
test.
Il supporto della Lancetta Genteel viene fornito
con 6 punte di contatto, diverse per colore e
spessore. Vanno da n. 1 / più spessa (blu), n. 2
(giallo), n. 3 (verde), n. 4 (chiaro), n. 5 (arancione)
fino a n. 6 / più sottile (viola). Queste differenze di
spessore consentono di regolare la profondità di
penetrazione della lancetta. Per ridurre al minimo

il disagio, utilizzare la punta di contatto della
profondità minima (più spessa, numero più basso),
che produce la giusta quantità di sangue.
Il Genteel viene viene fornito preinstallato con la
punta di contatto blu n. 1. Questa è la punta di
contatto più spessa e consente una penetrazione di
profondità più superficiale. Consigliamo di provare
la punta di contatto BLU installata in fabbrica la
prima volta che si utilizza Genteel.
La modifica della punta di contatto a un numero
più alto consentirà una profondità di foratura più
elevata.
Installazione della punta di contatto sull’ugello
1.Posizionare la punta di contatto su una superficie
pulita, dura, piatta come un tavolo.
2.Ci sono due facce della punta di contatto - quella
liscia che si colloca contro la pelle e il lato con le
scanalature da collocarsi sull’ugello. Assicurarsi
che il lato con le scanalature sia rivolto verso
l’alto. Utilizzare un leggero movimento avanti e
indietro (rotazione) per spingere delicatamente
l’ugello piatto sulla punta di contatto. Il labbro
sull’ugello si colloca nella scanalatura sulla punta
di contatto.

TEST DEL SITO ALTERNATIVO
Il test del sito alternativo implica l’utilizzo di una
parte del corpo che non sia la punta delle dita per
disporre del sangue per il test della glicemia.
 PRECAUZIONE: Verificare sempre con il
medico per capire se e quando il test del sito
alternativo sarà giusto per voi.
Se il test del sito alternativo è giusto, seguire
i punti 1-9, nello stesso modo mostrato nel
precedente “Test del polpastrello”.
CURA DEL GENTEEL
 PRECAUZIONE: Una volta ogni due settimane
o ogni 75 usi, qualunque si verifichi per primo,
oppure più spesso se visibilmente sporco, pulire
il Genteel e spurgare
per aiutare a prevenire
l’accumulo di sporcizia. Pulire strofinando la parte
esterna del supporto della lancetta con un panno
morbido con sapone neutro e acqua calda. Dopo
aver pulito, far asciugare completamente il Genteel
all’aria. Spurgare il Genteel come in figura
e
lavare secondo le istruzioni che seguono.
Per aiutare a prevenire il passaggio di virus o
agenti infettivi per via ematica, dopo ogni test,
usare un disinfettante sul Genteel. Si consiglia di
pulire il supporto della lancetta, compreso l’interno
e l’esterno dell’ugello e della punta di contatto,
con il 70% di alcol isopropilico. Dopo averlo pulito,
far asciugare completamente il Genteel all’aria.
Due indicazioni secondo cui il Genteel potrebbe
aver bisogno di essere lavato:
1.Non si chiude: il Tappo Di Spinta
-k è
spinto fino in fondo, e, anche se il Pulsante Di
Attivazione
-f non viene premuto, il Tappo Di
Spinta si apre verso l’esterno.

Genteel, polvere e sporcizia, come peli di animali
e altri contaminanti devono essere periodicamente
eliminati dal meccanismo di funzionamento con un

 WAARSCHUWINGEN: Genteel is ontwikkeld
voor eenmalig gebruik. Deel Genteel of lancetten
nooit met anderen. Als Genteel, zijn onderdelen, of
andere prikapparaten op andere personen gebruikt
worden, kan het risico op overdracht van door
bloed overgedragen ziekteverwekkers toenemen.
Was altijd uw handen met zeep en water voor
en nadat u Genteel hanteert om door bloed
overgedragen ziekteverwekkers of ander infectueus

Bewaar Genteel niet bij hoge temperaturen boven

Het Genteel prikapparaat is een lancethouder
om capillair bloed te trekken uit de vingertop of
andere plaatsen op het lichaam om bloedglucose
te testen of andere testen uit te voeren die kleine
hoeveelheden bloed vereisen.

van af en bewaar voor wanneer u het lancet

5.Vervang het
-b mondstuk door de pinnen van
het lichaam te laten aansluiten met groeven van
het mondstuk en roteer in de richting van de
klok.
6.Plaats Genteel voorzichtig maar beslist tegen de
vlezige zijkant van elk van uw vingers. Er mogen
geen openingen zijn tussen de
-a contacttip
en uw huid.
7.Druk op de
-f activeringsknop en blijf goed
drukken op de testsite. Tel tot 10 of tot u een
bloeddruppel ziet vormen wanneer u in het
-b
raam van het mondstuk kijkt, om het even welke
het eerst komt.
8.Laat de
-f activeringsknop los.
9.Trek Genteel weg van de huid. Kijk naar het
bloed dat getrokken wordt. (10)
 OPMERKING: Verwijder uw vinger VAN de
-f activeringsknop voor u Genteel van uw huid
verwijdert of bloed kan aan de binnenzijde van het
mondstuk

3.Plaats de beschermende cover van het lancet
op een hard oppervlak en duw de lancetnaald er
voorzichtig in.
4.Wanneer de naald veilig ingebracht werd in de
beschermende cover kan het lancet verwijderd
worden uit Genteel en weggegooid worden,
dit in overeenstemming met uw plaatselijke
voorschriften voor het weggooien van scherpe
voorwerpen.
HOE WEET IK OF EEN LANCET PAST
MET GENTEEL?
VORM
Is de basis van het lancet vierkant?
Genteel werd ontwikkeld om te werken met de
meest vierkante schachtlancetten. PASVORM
Past het lancet in de shuttle en blijft het zitten,
zelfs wanneer u het apparaat heen en weer
schudt? GROOTTE
Als uw lancet niet slaagt voor deze drie tests, zal
het niet werken met Genteel. Merk op dat slagen
voor deze tests alleen betekent dat het in de
shuttle van Genteel past, maar geen garantie is
voor de algehele kwaliteit of dat de grootte van de
naald uniform is.
 VOORZORGEN: Gebruik altijd een nieuw lancet
voor elke test voor maximale infectiepreventie.

DE CONTACTTIP KIEZEN EN
INSTALLEREN
De Genteel lancethouder komt met 6 contacttips
met verschillende kleuren en diktes. Ze variëren
van #1/dikste (blauw), #2 (geel), #3 (groen), #4
(transparant), #5 (oranje) tot #6/dunste (violet).
Deze verschillen in dikte stellen u in staat om de
penetratiediepte van het lancet aan te passen.
Om het ongemak te minimaliseren, gebruik de
contacttip met de geringste diepte (dikste, laagste
nummer) die nog steeds de juiste hoeveelheid
bloed produceert.
Genteel wordt geleverd met de blauwe #1
contacttip geïnstalleerd. Dit is de dikste contacttip,
en staat de geringste penetratie toe. We raden aan
omde BLAUWE vooraf geïnstalleerde contacttip
te gebruiken wanneer u Genteel voor het eerst
gebruikt.
Verander de contacttip naar een hoger nummer
voor een diepere punctiediepte.
De contacttip installeren op het mondstuk.

1.Plaats de contacttip op een schoon, hard, vlak
oppervlak zoals een tafelblad.

2.Er zijn twee kanten aan de contacttip - de gladde
kant die tegen uw huid gaat, en de kant met de
groeven die op het mondstuk gaat. De kant met
de groeven moet omhoog gericht zijn. Beweeg
licht vooruit en achteruit (roterend) om het
mondstuk voorzichtig in de contacttip te duwen.
De lip op het mondstuk gaat in de groef op de
contacttip.
3.De contacttip kan ook geïnstalleerd worden door
het over het mondstuk te strekken.
UITVOEREN VAN TESTS OP EEN
ANDERE PLEK
Het uitvoeren van test op een andere plek
betekent dat u een ander lichaamsdeel dan de
vingertoppen gebruikt om bloed te verkrijgen om
het suikergehalte in uw bloed te testen.
 VOORZORGEN: Bespreek dit altijd eerst
met uw dokter om na te gaan of en wanneer het
uitvoeren van een test op een andere plaats goed
is voor u.
Als het goed is voor u, volg dan stappen 1 - 9, op
dezelfde manier zoals getoond in “Testen van de
vingertop” hierboven.
 VOORZORGEN: Reinig en spoel Genteel om
de twee weken uit
om de ontwikkeling van
vuildeeltjes tegen te gaan, of nadat u Genteel 75
maal gebruikt hebt, welke van de twee het eerst
komt, of vaker indien Genteel zichtbaar vuil is.
Reinig door de buitenzijde van de lancethouder
schoon te vegen met een zachte doek met
milde zeep en warm water. Laat Genteel hierna
volledig natuurlijk drogen. Spoel Genteel ook
uit zoals aangeduid op afbeelding
en in de
onderstaande spoelinstructies.
Om door het bloed overgedragen
ziekteverwekkers of infectieus materiaal te helpen
voorkomen, ontsmet Genteel na elke test met
een ontsmettingsmiddel. We raden aan om de
lancethouder schoon te vegen, inclusief de binnenen buitenzijde van het mondstuk en contacttip met

70% isopropylalcohol. Laat Genteel hierna volledig
natuurlijk drogen.
 OPMERKING: Om te verzekeren dat
Genteel goed blijft functioneren, moeten gruis
en vuildeeltjes, zoals dierenhaar en andere
verontreinigende materialen regelmatig verwijderd
worden uit het werkingsmechanisme door het uit te
spoelen.
Twee Indicaties Dat Genteel Uitgespoeld Moet
Worden:
1.Wil niet sluiten: Het
-k Drukkapje is volledig
ingedrukt, en ook al is de
-f Activeringsknop
niet ingedrukt, het Drukkapje stulpt uit.
2.Houdt geen vacuüm: Een gespannen
Genteel wordt tegen de huid geplaatst, de
-f Activeringsknop is ingedrukt en blijft
ingehouden, maar de rode streep van de
-i Vacuümverliesindicator wordt zichtbaar
voor de vinger van de
-g Opening In De
Activeringsknop getild wordt.
Genteel Correct Uitspoelen
NEDERLANDS
Draai de achterzijde los en verwijder (de
-h Pistonmontage). Spoel met snellopend
warm tot heet warm, in het bijzonder rondom de
“O-ring.”

Laat warm tot heet water in het Genteelbuisje
lopen en uit het Mondstuk terwijl de
Activeringsknop herhaaldelijk wordt ingedrukt.

Om infecties maximaal te voorkomen, ontsmet
Genteel na elke test om de overdracht van door
het bloed overgedragen ziekteverwekkers of
infectueuze agentia te helpen voorkomen. Veeg de
lancethouder schoon met 70% isopropylalcohol,
inclusief de binnen- en buitenzijde van het
mondstuk en contacttip. Laat de Genteel hierna
volledig natuurlijk drogen.
Einde van de levensduur. Om het product
correct weg te gooien, volg de plaatselijke
afvalverwerkingprocedures.

Lagern Sie Genteel nicht bei hohen Temperaturen
über 150 °F (65,5 °C), zum Beispiel auf dem
Armaturenbrett eines Autos an einem heißen,
sonnigen Tag, währen die Fenster geschlossen
sind.
Verwenden Sie für jeden Test eine neue Lanzette,
um Infektionen bestmöglich zu vermeiden.

Die Genteel Stechhilfe ist ein Lanzettenhalter zum
Abnehmen von Kapillarblut an der Fingerspitze
oder alternativen Stellen am Körper für
Blutzuckermessungen und andere Tests, die kleine
Mengen Blut erfordern.
Die Genteel Stechhilfe ist nur für die Verwendung
an einem Patienten vorgesehen.

VORBEREITEN
Genteel Stechhilfe mit Kontaktspitze am Kopfstück

TESTEN AN DER FINGERSPITZE
1.Wählen Sie die Stelle für die Lanzette aus und
reinigen Sie mit einem Alkoholtupfer und/oder
einem Tuch.
2.Spannen Sie Genteel, indem Sie die
-k
Druckkappe hineindrücken, und achten Sie
darauf, dass Sie bei der Vorbereitung nicht den
-f Aktivierungsknopf drücken (Sie hören ein
Klicken, wenn Genteel korrekt gespannt ist).

 VORSICHTSMAßNAHMEN: Berühren sie
den aktivierungsknopf nicht , wenn sie genteel
spannen, da dies den sperrmechanismus löst
und genteel nicht gespannt werden kann

3.Entfernen Sie das
-b Kopfstück, indem
Sie es gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehen und
anschließend abziehen.
4.Setzen Sie eine neue,
-c sterile
Standardlanzette ein. Entfernen Sie vorsichtig die
Schutzhülle und bewahren Sie sie zur späteren
Entsorgung der Lanzette auf.
5.Setzen Sie das
-b Kopfstück wieder auf,
indem Sie die Stifte mit den Vertiefungen
des Kopfstücks ausrichten und gegen den
Uhrzeigersinn drehen.
6.Drücken Sie Genteel vorsichtig aber fest gegen
den fleischigen Teil eines Ihrer Finger. Achten
Sie darauf, dass kein Freiraum zwischen der
-a
Kontaktspitze und Ihrer Haut vorhanden ist.
7.Drücken Sie den
-f Aktivierungsknopf
und halten Sie Genteel weiterhin fest auf die
Teststelle. Zählen Sie bis 10 oder warten Sie, bis
sich ein Blutstropfen bildet, wenn Sie in das
-b
Kopfstückfenster blicken, je nachdem was zuerst
eintritt.
8.Lassen Sie den
-f Aktivierungsknopf los.
9.Entfernen Sie Genteel von Ihrer Haut.
Beobachten Sie die Blutabnahme.
 ANMERKUNG: Nehmen Sie Ihren Finger VOM
-f Aktivierungsknopf, bevor Sie Genteel von
Ihrer Haut entfernen, andernfalls könnte Blut in das
(b)Kopfstück/in die (a)Kontaktspitze gelangen.

2.Drehen und entfernen Sie das (

3.Platzieren Sie die Schutzhülle der Lanzette auf

Ist die Basis der Lanzette quadratisch?
Genteel ist konzipiert, um mit den meisten
Lanzetten mit quadratischem Schaft zu
funktionieren. PASSUNG
Passt und bleibt die Lanzette im Shuttle, auch wenn

Besteht Ihre Lanzette diese drei Tests nicht,
funktioniert sie nicht mit Genteel. Wenn diese
Tests bestanden werden bedeutet das jedoch nur,
dass die Lanzette in das Shuttle von Genteel passt,
garantiert jedoch nicht die allgemeine Qualität,
oder dass die Nadelgröße gleich ist.
 VORSICHTSMAßNAHMEN: Verwenden Sie
für jeden Test eine neue Lanzette, um Infektionen
bestmöglich zu vermeiden.
DIE KONTAKTSPITZE AUSWÄHLEN
UND INSTALLIEREN
Der Genteel Lanzettenhalter wird mit 6
Kontaktspitzen geliefert, die sich in Farbe und
Dicke unterscheiden. Sie reichen von #1/dickste
(Blau), #2 (Gelb), #3 (Grün), #4 (Transparent),
#5 (Orange) bis zu #6/dünnste (Violett). Diese
Unterschiede in der Dicke ermöglichen es Ihnen,
die Tiefe des Lanzetteneinstichs anzupassen.
Verwenden Sie die Kontaktspitze mit geringster
Tiefe (dickste, niedrigste Nummer), die trotzdem
noch für eine ausreichende Blutmenge geeignet
ist, um Unbehagen zu minimieren.
Genteel wird mit vorinstallierter Blau #1
Kontaktspitze geliefert. Dies ist die dickste
Kontaktspitze und ermöglicht einen Einstich mit
geringster Tiefe. Wir empfehlen, bei der ersten
Verwendung von Genteel die BLAUE, vorinstallierte
Kontaktspitze auszuprobieren.

2.Die Kontaktspitze hat zwei Seiten - die glatte
Seite, die auf Ihre Haut gedrückt wird, und
die Seite mit den Einkerbungen, die auf das
Kopfstück kommt. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die
Seite mit den Einkerbungen nach oben gerichtet
ist. Drücken Sie das Kopfstück vorsichtig mit
einer leichten Vor-Und-Zurück-Bewegung
(rotierend) flach auf die Kontaktspitze. Die Lippe

TESTEN AN ANDERER STELLE
Testen an anderer Stelle bedeutet, dass ein anderer
Teil Ihres Körpers verwendet wird, um Blut für die
Blutzuckermessung abzunehmen.
 VORSICHTSMAßNAHMEN: Halten Sie stets
Rücksprache mit Ihrem Arzt, um festzustellen,
welche alternativen Teststellen für Sie geeignet
sind.
Wenn alternative Teststellen für Sie geeignet sind,
befolgen Sie die Schritte 1-9, ebenso wie oben in
“Testen an der Fingerspitze” angegeben.

 VORSICHTSMAßNAHMEN: Einmal alle zwei
Wochen, oder nach 75 Anwendungen, je nachdem
was zuerst oder häufiger eintritt, wenn das Gerät
sichtbar verschmutzt ist, reinigen und spülen
Sie Genteel,
um Schmutzablagerungen zu
verhindern. Reinigen Sie das Gerät, indem Sie
die Außenseite des Lanzettenhalters mit einem
weichen Tuch mit milder Seife und warmem Wasser
abwischen. Lassen sie Genteel nach der Reinigung
vollständig an der Luft trocknen. Spülen Sie
Genteel außerdem wie in Abbildung
dargestellt
und wie in der nachstehenden Anleitung zum
Spülen angegeben.
Um die Übertragung von über das Blut
übertragbaren Viren oder Infektionserregern zu
verhindern, reinigen Sie Genteel nach jedem Test
mit einem Desinfektionsmittel. Wir empfehlen,
den Lanzettenhalter, einschließlich der Innen- und
Außenseite des Kopfstücks und der Kontaktspitze,
mit 70% Isopropylalkohol abzuwischen. Lassen sie
Genteel nach der Reinigung vollständig an der Luft
trocknen.
 ANMERKUNG: Um die hervorragende
Leistung von Genteel aufrechtzuerhalten, müssen
Verunreinigungen und Schmutz, wie etwa Tierhaare
und andere Kontaminanten, durch korrektes Spülen
regelmäßig aus dem Arbeitsmechanismus entfernt
werden.
Zwei Hinweise Darauf, Dass Genteel
Möglicherweise Gespült Werden Muss:
1.Rastet nicht ein: Die
-k Druckkappe ist
vollständig eingedrückt, und obwohl der
-f

suporte de lanceta para obtenção de sangue
capilar a partir da ponta do dedo ou de outros
locais alternativos do corpo para teste de glicose
no sangue ou para outros testes que exijam
pequenas quantidades de sangue.
O dispositivo de punção capilar Genteel destina-se
apenas a uso por utilizador único.

Gaze e/ou tecido com álcool para limpar o local
de teste
REALIZAR O TESTE NA PONTA
DO DEDO
1.Seleccione a área a ser puncionada e limpe com
um gaze e/ou tecido com álcool.
 PRECAUÇÃO: Não mantenha o botão de
activação pressionado enquanto estiver a armar o
Genteel, uma vez que ista irá libertar o mecanismo
de engate e o Genteel não irá amar.
3.Retire o
-b bocal rodando-o no sentido
contrário aos ponteiros do relógio e, em
seguida, puxe-o para fora.
4.Introduza uma lanceta padrão nova esterilizada
-c Rode cuidadosamente e retire a cobertura
protectora da lanceta e guarde-a para eliminação
da lanceta.

2.Arme o dispositivo Genteel empurrando a
-k tampa de pressão, tendo o cuidado de não
segurar o
-f botão de activação ao preparar
o dispositivo (irá escutar um clique se o Genteel
for armado correctamente).

5.Volte a colocar o
-b bocal alinhando os pinos
do corpo com as ranhuras do bocal e rode no
sentido dos ponteiros do relógio.
6.Coloque o Genteel suavemente, mas de modo
firme, contra a parte lateral de qualquer um dos
seus dedos. Certifique-se de que não existem
espaços entre a
-a ponta de contacto e a sua
pele.
7.Pressione o
-f botão de activação e continue a
segurar firmemente no local de teste. Conte até
10 ou até ocorrer a formação de uma gota de
sangue quando olhar para o interior da janela do
-b bocal, o que ocorrer primeiro.
8.Liberte o
-f botão de activação.
9.Afaste o Genteel da pele. Observe a acumulação
de sangue.
 NOTE: RETIRE o dedo do
-f botão de
activação antes de remover o Genteel da pele ou o
sangue pode manchar o interior do
-b bocal/
-a da ponta de contacto.
REMOVER A LANCETA
1.Arme o Genteel pressionando a
-k tampa de
pressão na parte traseira do dispositivo.

2.Rode e retire o

-b bocal.
3.Coloque a cobertura protectora da lanceta sobre
uma superfície rígida e empurre cuidadosamente a
agulha da lanceta contra a mesma.
4.Assim que a agulha estiver no interior da
cobertura protectora de forma segura, a lanceta
pode ser removida do dispositivo Genteel e
eliminada de forma apropriada, de acordo
com as suas normas locais para eliminação de
instrumentos médicos cortantes.

FORMA
A base da lanceta é quadrada?
O Genteel foi concebido para funcionar com a
grande maioria de lancetas de haste quadrada.
ENCAIXE
A lanceta encaixa e mantém-se no suporte, mesmo
se agitar o dispositivo? TAMANHO
Retire a ponta de contacto do bocal. Segure o
bocal com o lado mais pequeno orientado para
cima. Introduza a lanceta descendentemente
através do bocal. A lanceta atravessa
completamente o bocal?
 PRECAUÇÃO: Para o máximo de prevenção
contra infecções, utilize sempre uma lanceta nova
para cada teste.
ESCOLHER E INSTALAR A PONTA DE
CONTACTO
O suporte da lanceta do Genteel é fornecido com
6 pontas de contacto, cada uma diferente em
cor e em espessura. O intervalo vai da n.º 1/mais

então não funcionará com o Genteel. Contudo,
passar nestes três testes apenas significa que
a lanceta irá servir no suporte do Genteel, não
garante a sua qualidade global ou que o tamanho
da agulha é uniforme.

espessa (Azul), n.º 2 (Amarela), n.º 3 (Verde), n.º 4
(Transparente), n.º 5 (Laranja) até à n.º 6/mais fina
(Violeta). Estas diferenças na espessura permitemlhe ajustar a profundidade de penetração da
lanceta. Para minimizar o desconforto, utilize
a ponta de contacto de menor profundidade
(número mais baixo, mais espessa) que ainda assim
produz a quantidade de sangue correcta.
O Genteel é fornecido com a ponta de contacto
n.º 1 azul pré-instalada. Trata-se da ponta de
contacto mais espessa, e permite a penetração
de menor profundidade. Recomendamos que
experimente a ponta de contacto instalada de
fábrica AZUL da primeira vez que utilizar
o Genteel.
Alterar a ponta de contacto para um número maior
irá permitir uma maior profundidade de punção.
Instalar a ponta de contacto no bocal
PORTUGUÊS
1.Coloque a ponta de contacto sobre uma
superfície plana, rígida e limpa como, por
exemplo, o tampo de uma mesa.

2.Existem dois lados da ponta de contacto - o
lado suave que encosta à pele, e o lado com as
ranhuras que encaixa no bocal. Certifique-se de
que o lado com as ranhuras está orientado para
cima. Utilize um movimento ligeiro (rotativo)
para a frente e para trás para empurrar o bocal
suavemente contra a ponta de contacto. O
rebordo do bocal entra na ranhura na ponta de
contacto.
3.A ponta de contacto também pode ser instalada
esticando-a por cima do bocal.
LOCAL DE TESTE ALTERNATIVO
A realização do teste em local alternativo significa
usar outra parte do corpo que não as pontas dos
dedos para obter sangue para teste de açúcar no
sangue.
 PRECAUÇÃO: Consulte sempre o seu médico
para saber se e quando é que locais de teste
alternativos são ideais para si. Se o teste num local
alternativo for ideal para si, siga os passos 1 a 9, da
mesma forma que o indicado na secção “Realizar o
teste na ponta do dedo” anterior.
CUIDAR DO GENTEEL
Para ajudar a impedir a transferência de vírus
transmitidos pelo sangue ou de agentes
infecciosos, após cada teste utilize um
desinfectante no Genteel. Recomendamos a
limpeza do suporte da lanceta, incluindo o interior
e o exterior do bocal e a ponta de contacto com
álcool isopropílico a 70%. Depois de limpar, deixe
o Genteel secar ao ar completamente.
 NOTA: Tpara manter o desempenho superior
do Genteel é necessário limpar a sujidade
