Security Division – History
• Development of the internal range has been
driven by regulations and market necessity.
• This has led to a mishmash of sensors with
confused inheritance.
• Technology is evolving from analogue signal
processing to digital so now is the time to
unify our range.
C zone
Analogue > Digital
It is impossible to make a simple
comparison between the old and
the new. We have tried to keep
some of the characteristics for
familiarity however there are
fundamental differences which I will
expand on in the following slides.
The KEY change is detection logic.
Our previous sensors processed
events in an analogue function. The
new range of sensors utilise
advancements in digital technology
to improve on reliability, catch
performance and versatility.

Temperature Adjustment :
The detector will digitally adjust itself to maintain
detection range in hot and humid environments
where the environmental temperature becomes
similar to the external body temperature.

Response time : Analogue vs. Digital
RXC may appear to be “Slow” in
reacting to an event in relation to RX40QZ series.
This is because RXC uses digital
processing analysis as opposed RX-40’s
analog processing.

Response time : Analogue vs. Digital
Flag 2
Flag 1
Analog processing is synonymous to a
count of pulse that surpasses certain
thresholds.
Digital processing analysis is a method
that captures wave form of the signal
caused by an event.

Refined Spherical lens & Digital Quad Logic
Digital QUAD Logic
Improved accuracy and increased zone
capacity makes possible QUAD zone
recognition. This central feature of our new
range of sensors offers key benefits over
conventional detection.
Refined Spherical Lens
By using refined spherical optics our unique lens generates
dense uniformed detection patterns producing a highly
focused field. This facility allows our sensors to attain QUAD
optical detection reducing the effects of nuisance alarms
caused by spurious sources.
C zone
Microwave Signal Logic – DT & DAM models
Microwave module design and the materials used should
guarantee stable and long-lasting operation.
It is particularly important in applications where the device is
exposed to harsh environments, where the microwave is
responsible for reducing the number of false alarms.
Temperature and humidity fluctuations, as well as oxidants, destroy electronic
components. Moisture condenses on the aerial and alters its characteristics. It is
observed as a reduction of sensitivity and a change in the shape of the detection area.
Corrosion due to water-soluble oxidizing agents makes these changes irreversible.
Sway Logic : By recognising detection patterns our microwave
sensors can distinguish between the cause of nuisance false alarms
and genuine intrusions.
C zone
Conductive Shielding and EOL modules
Patented Double Conductive
Shielding
Double filtering and conductive
metal shielding of the pyro
blocks out visible light and RFI.
This allows only infrared energy
to reach the piezoelectric
elements stabilising its
performance in difficult
environments.

End of Line Resistors - EOL
To aid installation of our
OPTEX sensors we have
developed an option for
fixed O/P resistor values.
This supports quick
installation and reliable
value reporting. The
feature is available on
the wired VXI, FMX and
CDX models.

Sealed Optic and Silent Operation
Silent Output
By using our ECO-PLATFORM the device operates
under complete silence. There is no mechanical relay
component to disturb the environment with clicking
noise, making these devices invisible in daily life.
Conventional sensor
OPTEX sensor
Sealed Optics
The pyroelectric elements field of view is fully enclosed
by the sealed optics mechanism of the lens, cover and
the optics foam. This mechanism prevents insects from
crossing in front of the pyroelectric element. The
sealed optics also protect against draught through
wiring holes. Easy knockouts in the unit reduce extra
space between holes and cables, further enhancing the
sealing of the entire housing.
