Overview
DUO-BED LLC is a furniture manufacturing company
and sales source for duobeds, a new, patented modular
sofa bed unit that can be converted to beds, chairs,
chaises and ottomans to meet the purpose of any room.
We also manufacture the duopillow, a small version of the
duobed sofa back pillow that provides lumbar support for
sitting and makes any sofa, bed or chair more comfortable.
The duobed story began with a need for comfortable,
versatile, stylish, quality furniture that could fit into a small
space and be multipurpose for sleeping, relaxing, and
working.
We started searching retail furniture stores, magazines,
the internet – there was nothing on the market that could
solve the problem. So we decided to build it ourselves.
Then we let our imaginations rule as we worked with our
design and manufacturing partners to create the duobed
furniture system. With enthusiastic encouragement from
designers and manufacturers, we submitted a patent
application and secured a trademark. The result is a
product that can revolutionize how rooms are furnished in
homes, offices, hospitals, vacation homes, dorm rooms,
even cruise ships.
We spent two years developing the duobed design,
testing it, and implementing the production process. Our
solid manufacturing and delivery system is ready to ramp
up for the $65 billion furniture industry with a supplier who
has more than 30 years experience manufacturing case
goods.

We seek to establish and maintain a well-regarded brand
– one that is known for its functionality, craftsmanship, and
innovative design. Comfort, versatility and value define
duobed. We want to bring comfort and style to every
space where people sit and sleep. We want to maximize
the spaces where people sit and sleep by using one piece
of furniture that changes easily to meet the needs of that
space. We want to provide a quality product, made in the
USA, that is affordable for the hotel, cruise line, vacation
home, and time share industries.
Executive Profiles
Edele Singer envisioned the duobed concept
and established the company. She has extensive
entrepreneurial experience, owned a retail business, and
is a real estate developer and investor.
Barbara Chandler is a freelance writer, marketing
consultant, and technology facilitator. Previously she held
executive level marketing and communications positions
at non-profit organizations, and owned a retail business for
10 years. She has a Masters Degree in Communication
from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
Edward Goldberg is the COO of an internet service
provider. He holds a degree in political science from the
University of Nevada at Reno.

Better use of the space
A fold-out sofa bed takes up a lot of floor space and often requires moving other furniture, such as a coffee table, in
order to use it as a bed. A duobed sofa can be converted to a bed by simply removing the sofa back pillows. Of course,
if space allows, the versatile modular sofa bed unit can be arranged to take advantage of larger room areas.

More comfortable...
for sitting
We think being comfortable is the first priority of a sofa.
Other sofa beds are very uncomfortable for sitting. The
seats and back don’t provide enough support and the
cushions tend to sink at the back end making it a struggle
to get up. Everyone we talk to says they have to buy
extra throw pillows for their sofas and they still can’t get
comfortable.
duobed sofa back cushions provide great support and
the seat cushions are uniformly firm so users don’t sink
into the back end. There’s no need for piling up a bunch of
throw pillows to get comfortable. And instead of having to
maneuver out of a sunken seat cushion, the firm duobed
cushions make it easy to stand up.

Other sofa beds have thin mattresses and metal bar
supports that make sleeping very uncomfortable. duobed
cushions are made of thick, high-density, mattress quality
foam that provides exceptional support but is soft enough
to make sleeping a pleasure.

Unique
pillow construction
duobed sofa back pillows are a totally unique design.
We start with a foam core to provide a firm foundation.
That core is surrounded by a removable envelope that
has a layer of down and feathers encased in neatly sewn
pockets to prevent shifting. Then we cover the pillow with
a suede-like polyester fabric that comes in a wide range
of colors. The cover wipes clean with a damp cloth or can
be removed for cleaning. We can also use the customer’s
own fabric.

Our duopillow is a smaller version of the sofa back pillows. The foam core is wedge shaped so the pillow can be used
for support and comfort when sitting or re-clining on any sofa, chair or bed. We encourage people to try a duopillow as
the first step in their duobed comfort experience.

Hotel buys less furniture...
guests have more options
Other sofa beds can only be used as sofas or full size beds. Other sectionals can only be rearranged with difficulty
and are not comfortable beds. duobed seat cushions and back pillows rest on solid wood platforms with rolling/locking
casters. A hidden nylon strap on each platform allows anyone to easily glide a platform into place to create any furniture
arrangement.

The hotel purchases 1 duobed unit and the guests enjoy 5 furniture arrangements. It’s so easy to move the platforms,
guests can do it themselves. They can have a business meeting using the platforms as 2 chairs in the morning and later,
slide them together to create a relaxing chaise lounge. A solid wood corner table (described below), available with the
Deluxe and Premier units, serves as a desk or a small dining table perfect for room service.
A cruise line can replace the beds, sofa, chairs, coffee table, desk and ottomans in a passenger cabin with one
duobed furniture unit that can be quickly re-arranged throughout the day as a sofa, chairs, chaise, twin beds or a king
size bed. The corner table can be used as a bedside table, a desk or a small dining table. Passengers can move around
the cabin more easily and the room steward will be able to save time making up the cabins for daytime and nighttime
use, saving money on both furniture and labor.
Time shares and vacation homes can essentially offer customized furniture arrangements for their guests. By having
several platforms in the space, guests can create twin and king size beds as needed at night, and arrange the platforms
as sofas, chaises, chairs and ottomans during the day.

Corner table
A solid wood table comes standard with the Premier and Deluxe duobed sets. The table is open on 2 adjacent side
and has hinged wood panels to enclose the other 2 sides. Each hinged panel can be attached with 2 bolts to a duobed
platform. This provides a backboard when the duobed is used as a bed or chaise. The table can also be used as a desk
or a small dining table.
Backboards
When the furniture is used in a space with no wall to support the back sofa pillows, solid wood backboards with a
groove slide onto a lip on the back of each platform to create a backrest for the sofa pillows.

Each platform has pre-drilled holes in the corners. When placed next to another platform, a metal C clip slips easily into
the holes to link the platforms. Linked platforms move easily as one. So, for example, a duobed sofa using 2 connected
platforms, can be quickly slid around to adjoin another sofa, creating a king size bed.

As a mother with young children, I have always wanted to buy multi-functional furniture for my family. But was always disappointed with fake
wood furniture and cheap form that sinks after several months and does not last long. The first time I met Edie with Duobeds, I was very skeptical
