Position: Translator in charge of writing and editing application system documentation in English and
Portuguese. Responsible for the translation staff. (Application Development Department)
Activities: Translation of the documentation and screens of the company’s own application software
(mainframe, UNIX and networks). Accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable,
inventory control, report generator, P.O. applications. Translations into English for worldwide
installations. The English version of the systems was used in the Middle East and Asia as a basis for
translations in other languages.

GRUPO COBRASMA (Jan 22, 1980 to July 3, 1987)
(Railroad equipment, freight cars, passenger cars, train units, iron & steel making equipment, welded
pipes, two- and three-axle intercity buses, equipment items for nuclear power plants, automotive
shafts and axles, gearshifts, etc.)
Position: Technical Translator
Activities: English correspondence of the Cobrasma Group, which was at the time made up of the
following companies: COBRASMA S/A, BRASEIXOS S/A (now a Rockwell subsidiary), FORNASA
S/A and BRASPRENSAS.
Agreements for transfer of technology, correspondence of the export
and import departments, technical materials from the various engineering areas. Technical and
commercial proposals in English for international bidding processes.

LABO ELETRÔNICA S/A (Dec 19, 1979 to Jan 18, 1980)
(Assembly and nationalization of video display units, CPU, tape units, etc. and adaptation of German
software).
Position: Trilingual Technical Translator German/English/Portuguese
Activities: Translation and adaptation of German manual and instructions for a subsequent technical
revision for use in Brazil. English/German reference material used.

CESP - CIA ENERGÉTICA DE SÃO PAULO (Dec 12,1978 to Oct 19,1979)
(State-owned electric power plants)
Position:Trilingual Translator (English / French / Portuguese)
(Hired by Worktime - Serviços Temporários to work in the Power Transmission, Maintenance and
Generation Department)
Activities: Translation and adaptation of maintenance and operation manuals of turbines,
transformers, governors, substations, transmission lines, etc. to be used by plant and substation
personnel . This technical literature was originally written in English, French and occasionally in
German.

FRESINBRA INDUSTRIAL S/A (Nov 24, 1972 to Dec 1, 1978)
(A licensee of Westinghouse Air Brake Co., manufacturer of brake equipment for railroads, subways,
automotive applications. Manufacture of railroad signaling devices, importation and manufacture of
car door operators for subways, trolley buses and commuter trains).
Position: Product Engineering Technical Translator
Activities: Technical and commercial correspondence in English of the Product Engineering
Department, failure, inspection and status reports, engineering revisions. Translation of technical
literature regarding the company’s products, writing and adaptation of manuals, catalogs, leaflets,
technical descriptions and related materials from the USA, France, and Germany for use by the
customers in their assembly and maintenance shops, field work, etc.
