Upon arriving as a youngster in the U.S. with just a few dollars in his pocket, Thom Richard had just one dream:
to fly aircraft. A seasoned pilot who has clocked up more than 9,000 flight hours, he now lives his passion to the
full – in particular by taking part in the famous Reno competitions at the controls of Precious Metal, the most
legendary of all race planes. His next challenge is to set the world speed record and to win Reno. On his wrist is
the Chronomat, an ultra-sturdy and ultra-reliable instrument powered by a high-performance "engine", a 100%
Breitling movement. For Thom Richard, it is quite simply the world’s best chronograph.

Dear Passenger
At North Flying we focus on confidence,

chosen articles about some of the things
which sweeten life: special wines, excellent

interesting food, and new angles on wellknown destinations.
Also read the History of North Flying. The
company to which we are all dedicated,
about our planes, our special inflight service
and about all the things our whole organization does to make your trip perfect.
Should you have any questions or comments
concerning our magazine, please talk to our
crew – and please feel free to take the magazine with you. Enjoy the reading – and have a

The History of North Flying
Everything great starts out small
One small plane on a grass runway in
Western Jutland was the start of Nordfly in
1963. 7 years later the company took over
Aalborg Flying Center, moved to Aalborg
and changed its name to North Flying.
The backbone of North Flying A/S today is
a modern fleet, numbering 7 Jets and 3
Metroliners. Each member of the fleet is a
specialized machine, designated for its individual tasks.
In 1994 North Flying merged with Nordic
Air and became the largest General Aviation
company in Denmark. By taking over Aalborg
Airtaxi in 1996 and Falck Air in 1998, Scandinavia’s largest airtaxi company was formed.
North Flying is managed, run by and cared
by its dedicated, highly motivated staff at
Aalborg and Kastrup Airports. From the pilots to service specialists and administration,
each person is part of the common mission:
North Flying base at Aalborg Airport.
8 | Inflight Magazine no. 23
to offer precise, comfortable, safe and individually tailored travel solutions of the highest
class.
This is the foundation on which North Flying
A/S is building its continued expansion. The
most reliable planes, best trained pilots,
extensive service facilities for the planes, and
the most modern general facilities are all very
strong tools, with which we are ready to meet
the challenges of the future.

where you want to travel to and when, and
we take care of all the rest. This is a precise
and geographical reality. From Denmark our
operations have spread all over the world.
Today we land regularly in practically all
European airports, and very often we fly to
even the farthest continents. Our pilots are
at home everywhere. The world is becoming smaller.
As the internet and other modern means of
communication break the global borders,
so does North Flying. At the end it is just
another side of the same coin, to ease the
communication between people across any
border or culture, and to forge valuable links
around the globe.

KRØYER
– A COSMOPOLITAN
was met with success in e.g. Berlin, Munich,
and Vienna and at the Biennale in Venice.
Krøyer took part in 88 exhibitions abroad, and
it was also abroad that Krøyer found buyers
for most of his works from Skagen.
Krøyers enthusiasm for the countryside and
environment, and not least the company
of the other artists caused him to return to
Skagen almost every summer, and in many
ways he became a leading figure in the
colony at Skagen, where his very presence
attracted international artists.
In 1889, Krøyer married the artist Marie Triepcke. In 1894, the couple was permitted to
rent and rebuild the old town recorder’s
residence in Skagen’s Plantation – which is
known today as Krøyer’s House.
Giulio Bertoncelli: Copy of P.S. Krøyer’s
self-portrait in the Uffizi, Florence
There were three stations in famous Danish artist P.S. Krøyer’s
journey through life – Copenhagen, Skagen and Europe.
This summer, Skagens Museum throws new light on the
international aspects of his artistic achievements with the
exhibition Krøyer – an international perspective.
P.S. Krøyer is one of the most famous painters
of Danish art and is one of the most significant artists of the nineteenth century. Today
his art is usually viewed in the context of the
Skagen painters, and as part of the ‘modern
breakthrough’ in Danish art, but in his time he
took a natural position among the international artistic elite. A French critic said in 1889:
“Il est cosmopolite plus que Danois…” – He
is more cosmopolitan than Danish. And this
summer, Skagens Museum will present you
to the cosmopolitan Krøyer and throw new
light on the international aspects of his artistic achievements with the exhibition Krøyer
– an international perspective.
16 | Inflight Magazine no. 23
THE INTERNATIONAL CONNECTION
Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909) was already a famous artist when he first came to
Skagen in 1882.
At age 26, in 1877, he travelled to Paris for
the first time, and this was the beginning
of a four-year interlude spent travelling and
studying in France, Spain and Italy – which
led to a lifelong connection with the international art milieu.
He became the first Danish artist to participate in the contemporary exhibition activity
in Europe and the USA, and from the 1890s he
His energetic, prolific and initiative personality - both when it came to work and celebration - helped to maintain and enhance
the artistic standard of the famous artists’
colony. This is why his works today occupy
an important position in Skagens Museum’s
collection, whose vision since its foundation
in 1908 has been to preserve the works of
the Skagen painters at the place where they
were created.
THE EXHIBITION
With works from the museum as well as loans
from a large number of Danish and foreign
museums and private collections, we have
now succeeded in creating the largest exhibition in our time of Krøyer’s paintings.
In the exhibition we have gathered a selection of Krøyer’s best works, showing the
great development his art underwent from
the beginning of the 1870s until his death
in 1909 - including loans from Göteborg
Konstmuseum (Gothenburg Museum of
Art), Nasjonalmuseet for kunst, arkitektur og
design, Oslo (Oslo National Museum of Art,
Architecture and Design), Nationalmuseum,
Stockholm (National Museum of Stockholm), Musée d’Orsay, Paris, Philadelphia
Museum of Art and more.

Jaguar reveals the
DESIGN
Launched in 2008, the XF introduced a
coupe-like profile to the sporting saloon
template and received plaudits worldwide
for its seductive combination of dynamics,
performance, quality, design and luxury.
The Jaguar design philosophy is based on
the smooth, uninterrupted flow of lines
that lead the eye along and around the vehicle and this is readily apparent in the XF
Sportbrake which, despite sharing an identical wheelbase with the saloon, is imbued
with even greater presence.
The first of these elegantly simple feature
lines begins in the propeller-inspired blades
fitted to the side air intakes, leading the eye
into the lower wing crease and then along
the sills of the car and around the rear bumper. The second feature line runs up from the
outer edge of the same intakes, defining the

bi-function HID xenon technology and LED
daytime-running lights arranged in a distinctive Jaguar ’J-Blade’ pattern.
Sharing the same new lightblade headlamp technology as the saloon, the XF
Sportbrake also adopts the new, more upright grille and purposeful bonnet, giving
it an enhanced ’rear-view mirror’ recognition factor. The lights themselves feature
From the leading edges of the grille, strong
feature lines rise over the bonnet, then
seamlessly into the A-pillars and over the
roof, defining the load area before flowing
down to form the slope of the tailgate and
rear bumper. The roofline itself is echoed
by polished roof rails (when specified) that
add both functionality as well as a strong
feature element. The signature Jaguar side
window graphic is here seen in its most elegant and elongated form, stretched backwards to the rear windscreen like a taut
bowstring and highlighted with a brightly
polished finish.
”Creating the Sportbrake was a great
opportunity for us to extend the
XF’s design aesthetic. The flow and
connection of lines that lead the eye
around the car result in an entirely
practical estate car consistent with
Jaguar’s reputation for drama and
elegance.”
Wayne Burgess, Studio Director,
Jaguar Design
20 | Inflight Magazine no. 23
The clever conjunction of the side window
graphic tapering down to meet the rising
shoulder line not only emphasises the XF
Sportbrake’s strong haunches but also
helps the rear roofline appear to taper elegantly towards the tail. This impression of
fluidity is heightened by the use of gloss
black finishers on the rear pillars, providing
a wraparound effect in conjunction with
the tinted rear screen, an aesthetic inspired
by the superstructures of luxury yachts.
The rear lamps feature LED technology for
brake, light and indicator functions and, by
their width and the manner in which they
sandwich the chrome signature blade,
emphasise the solid rear stance of the XF
Sportbrake.
The XF Sportbrake is also available with
two optional exterior design packages
that serve to further strengthen the assertiveness of its appearance. The Aero Pack
(standard on the ’S’ model) adds a deeper
front bumper, side sills and rear valance
plus a rear spoiler enhancement - a tailgate
spoiler being standard on all models. The
Black Pack replaces the exterior bright finishes with gloss black and pairs them with
similarly finished alloy wheels to create
new colour combinations that are subtly
distinctive and eye-catching.

RIG-TIG by STELTON is the new modern, brand in
kitchenware. The brand focus is: function, design and
resources with products sold at very reasonable prices. This
spring news include a salad spinner and a dressing-shaker.

Functional kitchenware is valuable in a busy

of the cupboard. Or it may be functional
however the design is not suitable for the
dinner table. The important thing is to find
few, but multifunctional and well-designed
kitchenware items because these can be
used over and over at the kitchen worktop
and at the dinner table.
Stelton’s new kid in kitchenware
This is where the launch of RIG-TIG by
STELTON enters the scene. The new brand
is Stelton’s effort to offer kitchenware
where function and design is in perfect
harmony and environmental impact are
taken into consideration where it is possible and makes sense.
‘In our discussions of a brand name we
kept coming back to the type of products
we wanted to launch. It should be: the right
products, the right design, made of right
materials for the environment and which
could be sold at the right prices. Therefore
the brand name ‘RIG-TIG’ which in Danish
means ‘right’, explains CEO and owner of
Stelton, Michael Ring.
Save time and space
RIG-TIG builds on the well-known design
line from Stelton - characterised by a minimalistic and Scandinavian stylish, DNA.
Simple lines and soft colours typify RIG-TIG
– the aim is not to create attention but to
make life a bit easier for you when you are
at work in the kitchen.
‘We believe that simplicity and minimalism
leads to great design. We aim to cut our
products into their essential form. Every
kitchen item should be functional, save
space and time –perhaps even cut down
on the minor irritants we all know from our
everyday life, says brand manager, Mette
Ramlow.

Spring time is salad time
One of the news in the line of RIG-TIG products is a salad spinner that can help you to
create your own crisp salads. The spinner is
designed by the Swedish chef and designer, Jens Fager and is to be used in RIG-TIGs
large mixing bowl. With the spinner wet
salad and soaked T-towels are history. And
when not using the spinner you can use
the bowl for mixing ingredients or even
serve your salad from it.
To make a good salad it takes a great dressing which is made easy with one of the
second news this spring; a dressing shaker
from the design duo, HolmbäckNordentoft.
Mix the dressing in the shaker and serve it
from the shaker too. The top comes off easily for ingredients to be put in and the lid
can be twisted to pour dressing on your
salad without any spillage.

Keeping abreast of life
Life is full of sharp corners that take extra courage to navigate.
And current times constantly demand a better performance from
us on all levels. In our career, family life – everywhere! The distance
from strength and job satisfaction to stress and despondency is only
short - so where and how do we find those extra resources when
we really need them...
As the first light of day pierces the darkness,
we have already found our spot. The view is
striking, and we cannot help but inhale the
salty air deep into our lungs. At this point
in time, no one wants to talk. To break the
silence or the sounds of nature. But when
conversation does finally begin, it is quickly
apparent that this is going to be a day for
reflection and space.
The setting this morning is an obscure area
in Skagen, but could just as well be a valley
in the Andalucian mountains or a babbling
brook in Norway. Because when Søren Dige,
the man behind consultancy firm Mindstep
and the concept of TimeOut Coaching, has
ripped a day out of the calendar to spend
with his client in order to “scratch the surface” of life, the setting, however exotic, is
irrelevant. It is a case of getting away from
day to day habits and mindsets, and getting out where we can feel nature’s highly
beneficial and often underestimated effect
on the body and soul. Where there is space
for thought and the opportunity to ponder
things from a distance.
It is not just the external setting that stands
out from the more traditional personal development session. “As a coach the stand-
Inflight Magazine no. 23 | 31
ard approach is to reflect on the client - to
ask and plan without helping to conclude,”
says Søren Dige. “But when on a day like
this we look closely at some of the bigger
questions that life presents us with, the big
difference for me is about being an alternative active participant in the discussion.
Involvement is important, taking responsibility and offering to be a part of the new
creations and initiatives that the day will
lead to,” he says, based on a life experience
gained in a former business career and 12
years as a development coach.
TimeOut Coaching is therefore both about
spending quantitative time out and getting a qualitative break from our rational,
high-speed life, where days tend to blend
together. And where you quite rightly start
to doubt whether you are in control of your
life - or whether life is controlling you! The
day can be about your career or companyrelated issues, stress, or an important decision to make at a crossroads in your life, or
something completely different. But a day
like this will always be about understand-
32 | Inflight Magazine no. 23
ing that a human being is a closed system
of body, thoughts and feelings, which we
can actively use to create the everyday life
we really want. Diet and exercise are also
natural components of the session.
It is now mid morning and we are walking along the edge of the sea looking out
towards the cliffs, heading back for a welcome lunch. And as the day progresses, it
becomes clear that it will not be filled with
outdoor pursuits based on teambuilding,
or physical challenges involving a map and
compass. We are on a journey, which can
last several days, where it is the mental side
that is challenged against a backdrop of
spectacular scenery.
“We don’t use high-flying theories, rather
down to earth methods that work”, underlines Søren in the informal surroundings that evoke a combination of dreams,
goals, experiences, tools and adventures
for a motivating atmosphere, and for action plans that will hopefully create longlasting, valuable results.
It is hard to come away from such a day.
And when we finally part in the evening
outside the little cabin that has provided
shelter and log fire warmth during the last
few hours of the afternoon, the trip home
is heavy with thoughtfulness yet empty
of the desire to switch on the radio or the
mobile.

Fragrant, warm flow
of new energy
”Just imagine if it didn’t exist. Or that – for
some reason – it was banned! I often think
about how much coffee means to us. How
much it connects us – my colleagues and
me back at the office. We are like an organism, where the fragrant warm flow of coffee
constantly brings new energy into our cooperation.”
“A good cup of coffee also makes our customers and other guests quickly feel at home and
like they’re part of the team.”
“In the morning, when we gather for that first
cup of coffee, it awakens us and gets us moving in sync. And in the afternoon, if we experience a slight decline in our thought flow, a
good, aromatic cup of coffee can quickly reignite our energy.”
”Most corporate leaders and decision-makers
rarely express themselves so ceremoniously
and poetically as this, but there is no doubt
that they view good daily coffee as an entirely
necessary criterion for the well-being, team
spirit and efficiency of their employees.”
We presented these contemplations to Jesper Hindberg of Kaffeknappen, a business
that is all about introducing good coffee
into companies and offices. He said:
”The creative and liberal professions, in particular, have been quick to recognize the effectiveness of good coffee and to see it as a
positive investment. But other companies are
now following suit and asking for our help.”
”Our form of close customer collaboration
prevents us, unfortunately, from helping firms
and institutions located outside the greater
copenhagen area. That is, of course if you
don´t happen to be situated close to our other
branches in Stockholm, Oslo or Gothenburg”.
He would prefer to remain
anonymous, but we met
him during a break at an
exclusive seminar for corporate leaders, and wound
up talking about coffee. He

ABAX gemmer al data i 10 år – 5 år længere end SKAT kræver.

When
THE GRILL
gets to work
The Weber Grilleriet is a new and unconventional meeting
place, which is about mixing meetings, product launches
or training courses with the world of grilling. Our visitors leave for home feeling like budding grill heroes and
inspired by a great experience!
Inflight Magazine no. 23 | 41
Use your lid – it’s always worthwhile!
If you get the chance to take a break from
the dry figures at the meeting, you can kick
tyres in the large Weber product showroom, discuss tricks with the Weber grill
experts in Grilleriet’s kitchen or go hunting
for delicious speciality products in the
gourmet shop.
Not many people are aware that more
people grill in Denmark than any other
country in the world, and in recent years
the modest Danish “sausage party” has
become a lavish “gourmet gathering”.
Encouraged by success in the Danish
market, Weber, the leading grill brand, set
up Grilleriet close to the company’s head
office in Aalborg, Denmark – and this year
sees the advent of a second centre in the
country’s capital city, Copenhagen. The
grill-crazy Danes just cannot get enough.
teambuilding event – in fact, the sky’s the
limit! Grilleriet is a unique concept that is
particularly popular with business leaders
as an unconventional meeting place, far
removed from the gloom and boredom of
the conference room, and tasteless buffet
lunches.
“Grilleriet is the perfect place to pamper
your employees with an alternative and
inspiring day at work. You could say that
business becomes pleasure at the Grilleriet,”
Martin Mygdam smiles.
“The Danes are keen to learn all kinds of
new grilling tricks and hints, and we teach
them how to cook everything from beef
tenderloin and omelettes, pork roast and
chocolate marshmallows, to chicken and
layer cake,” says Martin Mygdam, Manager
of Grilleriet Aalborg.
The state-of-the-art facilities can be adapted to accommodate a cosy little board
meeting or a big annual sales conference,
and of course customers have access to
every kind of modern lighting, IT and AV
equipment.
When business becomes a real pleasure
When you enter Grilleriet, you enter a world
of unique experiences. You can choose
from a wide range of events, among them
a consumer course, corporate visit or celebration, board meeting, anniversary party,
“There’s a widespread mantra among
grilling enthustiasts that you never allow a
project to fail just because you don’t have
the right equipment. Here at Grilleriet,
the philosophy has become a way of life,”
Martin Mygdam explains.
There is no better way to end a constructive day of meetings than to gather in
the kitchen and create a delicious festive
dinner. If you are looking for a cooker, then
you look in vain, because here the grill –
and only the grill – reigns supreme! You get
to play, learn, mess up a bit and then succeed at last – and if you’re very lucky, you
might earn the right to tease a colleague.
“Grilleriet is a pearl of an experience. We
give our visitors something they cannot
get anywhere else – and they also take
home a lot of useful tricks to use with their
own grill and impress their friends and
family. It is just so much more cool than
some boring conference room in a gloomy
hotel,” concludes Martin Mygdam.

Rock Solid
2011 saw much turbulence in the financial markets and far
from everybody earned a return on their investments.
All Stonehenge customers earned a return
in 2011 on whichever investment product
they had chosen – equity, bonds or our
mixed compartment Value Mix. However
modest in 2011, a positive result of 2 – 5 %
is always better than a loss – and a far better starting point for a substantially higher
return the next year.
STAKING ON LOW RISK
On 28 January 2012, our compartment for
global equities and global bonds had been
listed for exactly two years, and we are
proud to note that despite all the market
turbulence, we have met our objective of
first protecting our customers’ capital, then
increasing it through a cautious investment
strategy. We would much prefer ensuring
our customers a 10 % return rather than
hunting an unsafe 20 % return. This is the
Stonehenge credo and the philosophy behind our business model.
Stonehenge Fondsmæglerselskab A/S is a
limited company owned by a number of private investors taking a conservative approach
to asset management. Our focus is that if we
can convince others that our strategy is sensible, we can also make a business of it.
And since we participate as investors in the
pools we recommend to our customers,
friends and acquaintances, we also charge
our customers a fair price.
PROFIT-SHARING
Stonehenge receives a modest fixed fee of
0.9 % on equities plus a profit commission.
44 | Inflight Magazine no. 23
This commission is fixed at 10 % of the pools’
net profit and payable once a year when the
annual results have been made up by our
chartered accountant. If the result turns out
to be a deficit, we have to cover this first before a profit commission can be calculated
and paid. We find this profit model very reasonable because consultants like us should
be paid as we deserve.
Our model puts us as consultants on the
same side as our customers since we must
make a living of returns rather than turnover.
Furthermore, it is the very same profit model
that forms a strong basis for finding sound
and solid investments that will yield a stable,
positive return if you have the time to wait.
A strong basis is the alpha and omega of
building a house, constructing a car or, indeed, compiling a portfolio of bonds and
equities that will yield a fine return while our
sleep is all the more easy. And then we leave
high risks and gambling worries to others.
VALUE - A SAFE CONCEPT
The cornerstone of the Stonehenge investment concept is a strict and disciplined approach to choosing stock in solid companies
that produce everyday commodities like
beer, food, medicine, toilet paper and soap.
We simply try to calculate the real value of
a number of companies listed on western
stock exchanges and refrain from investing
in Russia, Africa, South America and the Far
East as a whole. Instead, we will focus on
investing in solid companies established in
countries with a reputation of reliable finan-
cial information since this is the basis for our
analyses. When we have calculated the real
market value of a company, we intend to
buy stock of up to 70 % of this value in order to ensure a potential for our investment.
Thus, we have a clearly defined and fixed
method of estimating our shares so that we
know when to buy and when to sell.
POTENTIAL
Since 1975, shares held long-term have
yielded average annual returns of around
10 % according to MSCI World Index. But in
the same time period, the value equity indices have turned out to be better, i.e. a 12 %
average annual return. It is therefore worth
noting that far most share analysts still try to
guess their way to the next share that will
repay them manifold instead of investing in
value equity. It is probably due to all those
comments that investing in value equity is
as exciting as watching the grass grow. It
does grow, slowly and steadily - just as an
investment in value shares yields a slow and
steady return.
Therefore, we also advise our customers that
the stock market is an enormous workplace,
not a casino – at any rate, this is not our perception. You just have to bear in mind that it
takes time for your investments to yield the
expected return.
Let the grass grow – and harvest from time
to time.

So much to offer
Valdres has something for the whole family and you can reach us by plane from all
over the world, via Norway’s largest airport,
Oslo Gardermoen Airport. From Oslo there
are planes arriving in Valdres twice daily, and
the approach to Valdres is in itself an extraordinary experience. There are a vast variety
of options for accommodation, from hotels
to cabins, or maybe you might want to stay
on a farm? You will of course find car rentals
available at the airport.
Valdres has something for the whole family.
At an adventure area we call “Valdres – The
Kingdom of Senses” you can sharpen your
senses and you are urged to taste, smell, see,
hear and feel. You will really enjoy it while
you are here. It is not far to the western part
of Norway, and even closer to the genuine
experience of Norwegian fjords and the
spectacular train ride in Flåm.
Largest mountain farm life
Valdres has the largest remaining culture
of mountain farms in Northern Europe and
from this area the local population get their
produce. Always clean and healthy, it varies
from cheeses, sour cream and lamb meat, to
cured sausages and farm-made ice cream,
to name a few of the 150 local products
produced here throughout the year. You can
buy these natural products in many farms
shops selling directly to their customers, directly at the mountain farms or in the food
shops around the Valdres area. If you wish to
have the locally-produced food served on
a plate, you will find several places that can
give your taste buds an experience they will
never forget.
Speciality
Specialities in Valdres are cured fish and
cured sausage, both acclaimed for their local origins. And you have many flavours to
pick and choose from among all the products you find here, if one or more would
not appeal to you. Visit Nordaker Farm
(cured fish) and Moahaugen Farm with its
extensive farm shop. And you can enjoy local dishes at the restaurant Bare Kos (Absolutely Cosy).

National Tourist - Valdresflye
By car or bus you can go up to nearly 1 400
metres. On this adventurous road (FV 51)
you can experience a lot of exciting things.
On the boat “Bitihorn”, a 100-year-old vessel,
you can take a two-hour journey from Bygdin and into the Jotunheimen. When you
return after this majestic trip, it is time to enjoy locally-caught fresh fish at Bygdinstøga
(café), close to the boat pier.
You can take a detour by Jotunheimvegen
or drive by the mountain farm scenery. On
your way to the top plateau you can stop
and enjoy the “world’s best waffles” as they
claim. And along this road you can take
short and long hikes or walks in the Jotunheimen National Park and climb to more than
2 000 metres high mountain peaks. You can
stay at Grønolen Fjellgard, located a stones
throw away from the national tourist route
where you can participate in the hiking they
organise every week. At the same time, head
up the mountain road Slettefjellvegen. You
will for sure get the feeling of standing on
the top of Norway.

Festivals
In summer, one festival replaces another.
Valdres Summer Symphony lasts 10 days
from 22 June, and features over 50 classical concerts, both indoors and outdoors.
In July there’s the “Jørn Hilme Event” – Norway’s largest folk festival, with numerous appearances at the Valdres Folk Museum and
outdoor concerts. Vinjerock – more than 1
000 meters above sea level - for three days
on end. And the Troll Rock, which focuses
heavily on activities for the family. See www.

Treat yourself and your associates to an
UNFORGETTABLE
experience
Welcome. Couched in beautiful surroundings, Hovde Gård
in Brekstad can host and coordinate special events ranging from the simple and low-key to the large-scale and
extravagant. Hovde Gård was originally a school of home
economics opened 1923.
It has been totally restored, reopening in
March 2009. The site’s culinary tradition has
been kept alive, and Hovde Gård is today one
of the most beautiful locations in the country
for courses, conference, weddings, luncheons, special events and Christmas banquets.
Hovde Gård is a natural underpinning for
many types of activities, regardless of the season. We offer goose and game hunts in the

autumn, which can be concluded with a relaxing dip in the lake. In the summer, we also
serve fish from our own boat, recreational
boating, and golf on a nearby 9-hole course.
In other words, the possibilities are many,
the choice is yours, and Hovde Gård we can
help you customise the event.
Main building
In these surroundings, one can truly experience a taste of nostalgia and luxury. Hovde
Gård offers one of the most attractive event
settings in the entire region, with an elegant
style and crystal chandeliers from the ceiling.
We can provide event facilities for up to 150
guests. The dining area opens out onto a
large and magnificent park with sitting areas
and pavilions. This is also used as a mingling
area for summer weddings. It is also possible
to hold the wedding ceremony itself outdoors. For special events and ceremonies, we
serve an aperitif upon arrival – preferably out
in the garden if weather permits. A bar on the
third floor is also open after meal service.
Courses/conference
Here you will find the perfect atmosphere
to hold your course or conference. We host
courses and conference groups for 1-130
participants. All conference areas feature
modern AV equipment, WiFi, and everything
you could otherwise need.
Not a typical hotel
Hovde Gård is not a typical hotel; here you
will enjoy breakfast or grab a cup of coffee in
the “kitchen”, just like you would at home, only
here we will be looking after you ourselves
Take a break in our lovely garden, kick off
your shoes and feel the grass below your
feet. If you have a little time free, we recommend our spa department, where you can

book a massage treatment before arriving. If
you need to open or close your day with exercise, we have a fitness room with bicycles,
treadmill, weight benches and TV.
Activities
Bicycles Take a refreshing bicycle ride and see
some of what our surroundings have to offer,
from island hopping to the historical Austrått
manor. We have 11 bicycles – including 1
tandem –available for our guests to hire. We
can also assist you with plotting your route.
Golf: Austrått Golf is only 12 km from Hovde
Gård and is a 9-hole golf course with a driving range and rental options.
Swimming: The municipality of Ørlandet is
surrounded by water, and there are a number of alternatives to take an invigorating
swim, all close by to Hovde Gård. We will be
happy to assist you with directions and alternative outing ideas.
Skating rink: Fosenhallen is Norway’s 2nd
largest ice rink (after Vikingeskipet in Hamar)
opened in September 2007. The ice rink offers skating, hockey, curling, and football at
the same time.
Speed boating: Want to give your conference a little extra something? On with your
wetsuits, buckle up your safety gear and
review the safety protocol, and then 500
horsepower will race us out from the pier
and deliver a definite adrenaline kick on
frothing waves.
You can choose whether you want to experience the raw power of the Frohavet or a
scenic sail among islets and reefs. If you are
looking for an exciting and fast-paced experience, this is the activity for you!
Archipelago pool: Take a trip out to the
islets and watch the sun slip down into the
sea while you sink down into the heated water of our archipelago pool. Then you can
move from the pool to our steaming sauna.
Fjord cruise: Hovde’s own catamaran will
take us on a tour of the fjords around our fantastic archipelago, or, more correctly, around
our fjord landscape, where we will stop here
and there along the coast, visiting cultural
sites such as Austrått Manor, the fishing piers
in Råkvågen, or wherever you wish- perhaps
out to catch the big one yourself?
Austrått Manor: Take a break with a dive
into the multifaceted history of Ørlandet
and visit Austrått Manor. Constructed by
imperial chancellor Ove Bjelke in 1656 in the
renaissance style with baroque décor.
Over time the site has been the home of a
series of prominent figures.
Most known is Ingerd Ottesdatter Rømer,
the last of the old Norwegian noble family.
Today, Austrått Manor is a national heritage
site and well worth a visit.
Austrått fort: This is a stronghold constructed by the German occupying forces during
the Second World War. The unique triple canon is the main attraction of the tour, where
you can follow down the mountain and hear
about the history of the coastal fort. The
enormous 5-level gun tower is the only of its
kind remaining. The triple canon has a very
dramatic history around how it was shipped
here, assembled, and operated in Ørlandet.
Talented guides present a lively and engaging look into a piece of war history, as well as
an insight into German engineering.
