To understand eternal truth, And know the right from wrong, And gather all the beauty of A flower and a song. For if I help the world to grow In wisdom and in grace, Then, I shall feel that I have won And I have filled my place. Swine Influenza - Treatment - In humans If a person1 becomes sick with swine flu, antiviral drugs can make the illness milder and make the patient2 feel better3 faster4. They5 may6 also prevent serious flu complications. For treatment, antiviral drugs work best if started soon after getting sick (within 2 days of symptoms). Beside antivirals, palliative care, at home or in hospital, focuses on controlling fevers and maintaining fluid balance. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends the use of Tamiflu (oseltamivir) or Relenza (zanamivir) for the treatment and/or prevention of infection with swine influenza viruses, however7, the majority of people infected with the virus make a full recovery without requiring medical attention or antiviral drugs. The virus isolates in the 2009 outbreak have been found resistant to amantadine and rimantadine. In the U.S., on April 27, 2009, the FDA issued Emergency Use Authorizations to make available Relenza and Tamiflu antiviral drugs to treat the swine influenza virus in cases for which they had been unapproved. The agency issued these EUAs to allow treatment of patients younger than the current approval allows and to allow the widespread distribution of the drugs, including by non-licensed volunteers. English is the official language in several countries, Chinese is the language spoken by Chinese people and Danish is how Danes speak. But languages could also be described as different ways of talking due to social background, education, profession, age and sex. A person’s language is connected to his social situation. People speak differently also because they belong to different social worlds. Identity can signify the very special characteristic of a person, something that makes him differ from others. HERMANSSON, Kenneth. Disponível em: <http://hem.passagen.se/pasteur/LanguageIdentity.htm>. Acesso em: 22 abr. 2009. Identity is a very big word to use and is influenced by many things. A part of your identity is your ethnic background. Your genes, religion, the culture you live in and your environment all have a big influence on your identity. It affects the way you live, your behavior and your point of view at life. I believe that you can’t really lose your identity just because you speak a second or third language fluently. You are who you are and you can’t change that. Maybe speaking a second language can have an effect on your native language because you might use it less then you did before, you might forget some words in Dutch, for example, but you do know them in English or the other way around. I don’t think it matters what language you speak, you’ll still be Dutch, Chinese or Spanish deep down inside your heart. Your roots lay there. I do think though that you should encourage your child not to forget where he or she comes from and keep telling them about their origin.
