CONDITIONAL SENTENCES (IF CLAUSES) EXERCISES
I.
Put the verbs in brackets into the gaps. Form a Conditional sentence - type I (or 1st
condition) = If + simple present, will + infinitive (without to). Usado para situações
prováveis.
Example: If I __ (to go) to the cinema, I ________ (to watch) an interesting film.
Answer: If I go to the cinema, I will watch an interesting film.
1) If I study (to study), I will pass (to pass) the exams.
2) If the sun shines (to shine), we will walk (to walk) to the town.
3) If he has (to have) a temperature, he will see (to see) the doctor.
4) If my friends come (to come), I’ll be (to be) very happy.
5) If she earns (to earn) a lot of money, she’ll fly (to fly) to New York.

Put the verbs in brackets into the gaps. Form a Conditional sentence - type II (or 2nd
condition)= If + simple past, would + infinitive (without to). Usado para situações
improváveis.
Example: If I __ (to go) to the cinema, I ________ (to watch) an interesting film.
Answer: If I went to the cinema, I would watch an interesting film.

condition) = If + past perfect, would have + past participle . Usado para situações
impossíveis de ocorrer.
1) If you hadn’t been (not/be) late, we wouldn’t have missed (not/miss) the bus. ..
2) If she had studied (study) she would have passed (pass) the exam. ..
3) If we had arrived (arrive) earlier, we would have seen (see) John. ..

Neutral Condition or Zero Conditional = If + simple present, simple present. Usado para verdades
universais ou situações gerais que sempre são verdade.
