BONITO - NATURAL RESOURCES AND SUSTAINABILITY
The state of Mato Grosso do Sul, in central Brazil, is characterised as being typically agricultural and cattle
raising oriented. Home of huge farms, of up to 250.000 acres, Mato Grosso do Sul also holds a few of
Brazil´s most striking natural beauties. Our suggested itinerary will concentrate on one very special region,
Bonito, which pose a rare opportunity for visitors to be exposed to astonishing landscapes as well as
peculiar cultural aspects which we consider to be important experiences to Graded School students.
Bonito
Bonito is a small town of approximately 30.000 inhabitants, located 320 km (200 mi) from Campo Grande,
the capital of the state of Mato Grosso do Sul. Due to its very special ecological features, Bonito has
become a reference in Brazil as far as environmental care and conservation are concerned. Ultra-crystalline
rivers teeming with plant and animal life cut through this region. Also, majestic limestone caves, waterfalls
and trekking over the "Cerrado", a savannah-like environment, make the local attractions.

* Departure to Buraco das Araras a
sandstone abyss where red macaws,
parrots and other birds come to rest for
the night
