Listen to your present time tapes and you will begin to see who you are and what you are doing here mix yesterday in with today and hear tomorrow your future rising out of old recordings everybody splice himself in with everybody else. / abstract hacktivism - remix - collective Hacktivism is the merger between political activism and hacking. It is the modification of systems, programs or devices to give more users access to action spaces that were otherwise unavailable. These new passages and spaces are shared within the community for others to build further on. Everyone, instead, needs free exchange of electronic texts that should generate permanent paper copies with cheap methods of reproduction and circulation. And what about the mass circulation of popular books on peer-to-peer networks? Downloading the pdf, rtf or raw text versions of best seller books is easy and effective, but, more importantly, is the proof that the sharing of content is requested as a democratic possibility.” “Take care because it’s an illegitimate and premature son born from the relationship between Amazon and Copyright.” “So, actually, paper is flesh and screen is metal. And this cyborg cultural life-form will evolve significantly during the coming times.” ALESSANDRO LUDOVICO, Paper and pixel, the mutation of publishing Referências: [1] LUDOVICO, Alessando. “(…) it’s not at all surprising that the book in which this model was published is titled A Mathematical Theory of Communication (Shannon 1948). In this model, communication becomes synonymous with formal data processing. (…) Shannon had proposed (…) binary information processing - the encoding of all information into zeros and ones, which has become the basis of digital computing. “Computer-generated projective images are mathematically perfect, at least within the limits of computational error and the resolution of the pixelated screen.” [2] Ryoji Ikeda traduz estes dados numa impressionante experiência imersiva. [1] “(…) the web also houses a growing number of software mashups defined by Wikipedia as “a website or application that combines content from more than one source into an integrated experience.” “[ENZENSBERGER] prophetically states, 21 years before the launch of World Wide Web, that: All these forms of media are constantly forming new connections with each other and with older media like printing, radio, film, television, telephone, teletype, radar and so on. They are clearly coming together to form a universal system. (Enzensberger 1970). (…) Enzensberger alternative vision, shaped by the left-wing political movements of the 1960s, is that of democratic media in which anyone can take part […] by a simple switching process. “Right now, the behaviors and activities commemorated in this book are bizarre. Very. They are so peculiar that they are inherently difficult to describe, because they come from the outer reaches of an emergent network-culture. I could write an entire book about these ideas and practices, a book that would be science fiction, architecture fiction, design fiction, a technical manual and also a manifesto for network economics. That book would be rather like this book, only less entertaining.” [3] Referências: [1] RomaEuropa Fake Factory Press Release. http://www.romaeuropa.org/ REFF_press_release_ENG.pdf [2] Florian Cramer. Remix extends to culture as a form of appropriation (…) the copy/ cut & paste aesthetic of sampling that moved on to new media with the popularization of computers. And in new media culture (…) remixes culture by constantly appropriating pre-existing material, to comment on it, or simply to recontextualize it” [1] À semelhança da pintura de Francis Bacon, a cara da artista está a ser manipulada e distorcida num espaço electrónico como se representasse a prisão do seu alter ego expondo-o à manipulação mecânica do computador. “Their machine is primarily a device for isolating or dislocating a model’s appearance and behaviour from the cause and effect logic of cinema, television, video, music, and our perceptual experience of ‹full motion› life itself.” Snake Rituals and Switching Circuits, The blurring lines between mass and personal communication. Part Two. “We hope the show is a journey allowing the viewer to follow the tangential ideas of the participants. Often exhibitions only show finished works, and the process of reaching them can be just as interesting. This show is unique in that the finished pieces are both the inspiration for the work and the work itself” [2] Longe de ser uma apresentação de cada trabalho individual, este foi um processo de colaboração dinâmico ao qual os criativos se propuseram, reinterpretando conceitos e/ou artefactos apresentados pelos outros colaboradores. “Playgrounds can lead to interesting commercial work. [2] Como refere William Gibson - “Noone seem to have noticed that there was a territory there.” O google is not the map foi apresentado na LX 2.0 - Lisboa 20 Arte Contemporânea em Novembro de 2008.
