The Day The Lord Made
O Dia Que o Senhor Fez
El Dia Que Hizo El Señor
Three times in today’s Psalm we cry
out a victory shout: “His mercy
endures forever.” Truly we’ve known
the everlasting love of God, who has
come to us as our Savior. By the
blood and water that flowed from
Jesus’ pierced side we’ve been made
God’s children, as we hear in today’s
Epistle. Yet we never met Jesus,
never heard Him teach, never saw
Him raised from the dead. His saving
Word came to us in the Church through the ministry of the apostles,
who in today’s Gospel are sent as He
was sent. He was made a life-giving
Spirit and He filled His apostles with
that Spirit. As we hear in today’s First
Reading, they bore witness to His
resurrection with great power. And
through their witness, handed down
in the Church through the centuries,
their teaching and traditions have
reached us. The doors are bolted
tight, yet Jesus mysteriously comes.
He greets them with an expression,
“Peace be with you,” used elsewhere
by divine messengers. He shows
them signs of His real bodily
presence. And on both nights the
disciples respond by joyfully
receiving Jesus as their “Lord.”
Três vezes no Salmo de hoje cantamos,
"a sua misericórdia dura para sempre."
Temos verdadeiramente conhecido o
amor eterno de Deus, que veio a nós
na pessoa do nosso Salvador. Pelo
sangue e água que fluiu do lado
trespassado de Jesus somos feitos
filhos de Deus, como ouvimos na
Epístola de hoje. No entanto, nunca
vimos a Jesus, nunca o ouvimos ensinar,
nunca o vimos ressuscitado dos mortos.
Sua palavra salvadora veio até nós
através da Igreja - através do
ministério dos apóstolos. No Evangelho
de hoje são enviados como Ele foi
enviado. Cristo tornou-se um Espírito
que dá vida que encheu do Espírito
Santo os apóstolos. Como ouvimos na
primeira leitura, eles testemunharam
sua ressurreição com grande poder. E
através de seu testemunho, dado à
Igreja através dos séculos, os seus
ensinamentos e tradições chegaram
ate nos. As portas se fecham, porém,
Jesus vem
misteriosamente. Ele
recebi-os com esta expressão: "A paz
esteja convosco" usado em outro lugar
através de mensageiros divinos. Ele
mostra sinais da presença do seu corpo
real.
Salvador. Por la sangre y el agua que
fluyo del costado traspasado de Jesús
hemos sido hechos hijos de Dios, como
escuchamos en la epístola de hoy. Sin
embargo, nunca conocimos Jesús, nunca
lo escuchamos enseñar, nunca lo vimos
resucitado de entre los muertos. Su
Palabra salvadora vino a nosotros por
medio de la Iglesia - a través del
ministerio de los apóstoles, que en el
Evangelio de hoy son enviados como Él
fue
enviado. Cristo se convirtió en
Espíritu vivificante y Llenó sus apóstoles
con ese Espíritu. Como escuchamos en la
primera lectura, ellos fueron testigos de
su resurrección con gran poder. Y a través
