U Thanks to the new team of Corn Roasters (Ed

doing a great job at our Annual Corn Roast.
U Thanks to everyone that helped give popcorn away
at the Kolbe & Kolbe company picnic. An easy fundraiser for our club.
U At the Kiwanis District Convention in August
our own Jeff Crowell was installed as Lieutenant
Governor of Division 25. Mark Carrico, President
Elect of the Wausau (Noon) Kiwanis Club was
installed as Lieutenant Governor Elect and will take
office in October 2007. Congratulations!
U Also at the District Convention it was announced
that our District newsletter Kiwanews was selected as
the best district newsletter in Kiwanis International.
Trivia: From 1965-1987 the Editor of the Kiwanews
was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greater
Wausau! Also, between 1978 and 1984, the
Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District Office was on
Third Steet in Wausau because he was also the
District Secretary-Treasurer. Who was that man???
U Popcorn Wagon: Contact Chair Jeremy Tabin if
you can work any of the open spots in the football

Upcoming Invocators & Program Chairs
Program Chairs: Note the assignments below
are for the first six months of the new Kiwanis
year. Be sure to check with your speaker to
determine what equipment (projectors, VCR,
DVD, TV, table, etc) is needed for the program
and then contact Fry at least two weeks prior to
the meeting so that proper arrangements can be
made with the Hoffman House. Also inform
the speaker that our meetings end at 6:30 pm so
they should limit their program to about 20
minutes.

Kiwanis is a global organization of
volunteers dedicated to changing the
world one child and one community
at a time.
BERNIE CUNNINGHAM
Bernie is one of our most dedicated members and probably
the oldest in our club. He joined the Wausau Noon Kiwanis
Club in 1961 but shortly after transferred to our club. He was
our President in 1973-1974 and Club Secretary, Treasurer,
and Bulletin Editor for 10 years. He was awarded the George
F. Hixson Fellowship for his outstanding service to the club
and the community.
Prior to retirement, Bernie was an educator for 42 years. His
34 years with the Wausau School District included nine years
as the first principal of John Muir Middle School. He and his
wife Alberta, also a retired educator, have two daughters.
Bernie’s hobbies include traveling, collecting antiques,
reading, and cross word puzzles. Bernie has been the Club’s
Historian for many years. His favorite Kiwanis projects
include the Popcorn Wagon and the Travel & Adventure
series. He has served on many committees over the years and
is currently one of our dependable House Committee
members. GREAT JOB BERNIE!
