A Universidade de S. José vai ter
duas licenciaturas em estudos
luso-chineses e sino-lusófonos,
tendo em vista o emprego na área
de tradução. A vice-reitora Maria
Antónia Espadinha referiu o facto
de ambos os cursos incluírem um
período de estadia em Portugal
ou na China.
Elevar o nível de qualidade e a
autonomia das instituições são os
dois objectivos principais
da proposta de revisão do Regime
do Ensino Superior. No diploma
mantêm-se os quatro anos
lectivos como duração mínima
das licenciaturas.

The Institute for Tourism Studies,
Macao (IFT) was invited […] to
provide training programmes and
co-organise selection trials for
“Western Cuisine” and “Pastry and
Sweets” categories of the 43rd
World Skills Competition. Winning
participants of the selection trials
will represent Macao to compete
the world champion in the final
competition in São Paulo, Brazil
this August. […]
43 post-90s teenagers were
attracted to take part in the
selection trials of the two
categories co-organised by IFT
earlier. Three winners received
cash prizes while the champions
and the 1st runner-ups were
offered a local and overseas
intensive training of more than 500
hours for enhancing their culinary
and pastry skills. Besides, they
will attend an 8-10 days training
programme in Ferrandi French
School of Culinary Arts in Paris,
France and Atelier des Arts du
Sucre – Patisserie Kelin in Belfort.
In August, the champions will
compete with other global rivals
in São Paulo, Brazil accompanied
by the two Institute’s experts. […]

A student from the University of
Macau (UM), Lisandra Wagan
Fesalbon, has outperformed
other 100 thousand contestants
in the “21st Century Coca-Cola
Cup” National English Speaking
Competition, taking home the
championship prize. The contest
was attended by talented English
speakers from across China.
It was the first time since the
national speaking competition’s
first edition in 1996 that a local
student has snatched the top title.
This year, the annual competition
was held at Henan University.
The student, from the UM’s
Department of Government and
Public Administration and also a
member of UM’s Public Speaking
Team, charmed the panel of judges
with her charisma and eloquence
onstage in the grand final of the
nationwide competition, defeating
64 other finalists from among
the staggering 100 thousand
rivals who participated from the
contest’s first stage.

its 10 years this year. Till now,
this programme has trained up
123 professional cultural heritage
guides in Macao and they play an
important role to promote cultural
heritage tourism in Macao.
The programme quality of IFT
is worldwide recognised while
the Institute is the first UNWTO
Tedqual Certification institution of
tourism education in 2000.

In 2005, within the framework
of Asian Academy for heritage
Management established with
the support of United Nations
Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
and the International Centre for
the Study of the Preservation
and Restoration of Cultural
Property (ICCROM), UNESCO
and the Institute for Tourism
Studies, Macao (IFT) have jointly
developed the Cultural Heritage
Specialist Guide Traning and
Certification Programme for
UNESCO World Heritag Sties
and
IFT’s
faculty
designed
the outline and content of the
programme. The programme has
been recognized by the Pacific
Asia Travel Association (PATA)
with the 2007 PATA Gold Award
under the category of “Education
and Training”, and by the World
Heritage Committee at its 31st
Session as “a best-practice
example of an initiative aiming
at integrating the conservation
of World Heritage within the
wider sustainable development
framework for the benefit of local
communities”.
