High Street: Shopping centres are preferred to the high street by
the Lisbon shopper, with Colombo and Vasco da Gama some of
the most popular schemes in the area. Nevertheless, there are
some well-established high street locations such as Chiado, which
is the most sought-after by both shoppers and retailers due to its
diverse offer, and also Avenida de Liberdade and Rua Castilho
which host some luxury brands. The Avenues António Augusto
Aguiar, República and Guerra Junqueiro are also popular and
feature a good range of multiple and local retailers including an El
Corte Inglés department store to the northern end of Augusto
Aguiar. International brands continue to target the best schemes
with Prada, Filthy Rich, Custo Barcelona and Muji, all starting their
Portuguese expansions here.

very limited. This should see prime rents remain at €80/sq m/

Shopping Centres: In shopping centres, retail performance
indicators remain positive. Professional management and positive
leasing strategies have ensured a continued strong performance of
the major shopping centres. The feedback from operators indicates
declines in sales, supporting the more sombre prospects of some
macro-economic indicators. In terms of shopping centre
development, Barreiro Retail Planet opened in November 2010
anchored by Decathlon, Jumbo and AKI. Aqua Portimão opened in
April 2011 and also features a Jumbo hypermarket along with
Primark and H&M. Forum Sintra opened in April 2011 and is
anchored by hypermarket chain Pingo Doce, Zara, Primark, H&M,
SportZone and C&A.
