R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley is fortunate to have dedicated
2
community leaders like Dario V.AGuerra, Jr., of Edinburg, who has
3
given
4
professional, government, and civic organizations; and
generously
of
his
time
and
talents
to
many
important
5
WHEREAS, A native of McAllen and a graduate of Texas A&I
6
University in Kingsville with a bachelor ’s degree in agriculture,
7
Mr.AGuerra started in the ranching business in 1960; he has been
8
chair of the Hidalgo Soil & Water Conservation District and the
9
Committee of Agriculture on Task Force 2000 at Texas A&M and has
10
served
on
the
Public
Advisory
Committee
on
Soil
&
Water
11
Conservation to the Secretary of Agriculture and as an advisor to
12
Texas Partners of the Alliance with Peru; and
13
WHEREAS, Mr.AGuerra ’s expertise is widely respected, and he
14
has been appointed to the Governor ’s State Rural Advisory Council,
15
the Texas Water Development Board, the Rio Grande Regional Water
16
Authority Board of Directors, and the Governor ’s Task Force on
17
Agriculture;
18
Committee, the National Commission on Small Farms, the Farm Service
19
Agency, and the AmeriCorps Program; and
20
he
WHEREAS,
has
further
Active
in
his
worked
with
community,
the

served
as

president of the school board, president of Easter Seals, chair of
22
the board of directors of the Tropical Texas Center for Mental
23
Health and Retardation, and chair of the Hidalgo County Program

Building Committee; additionally, he served as a member of the

board of directors of the Hidalgo Historical Museum, Jefferson
2
Savings & Loan, and Franklin Savings & Loan; and
3
WHEREAS, Mr.AGuerra also played a prominent role in the Rio
4
Grande Valley Livestock Show, and during his 50-year tenure, he led
5
RGVLS as director and president; and
6
WHEREAS, Recognized for his exceptional service in behalf of
7
others,
8
Easter Seals and Man of the Year in Agriculture by the Texas County
9
Agricultural Agents Association; he has also earned accolades from
10
Mr.AGuerra
has
been
named
Humanitarian
of
the
Year
by
FFA, the Edinburg School Board, and RGVLS; and
11
WHEREAS, Mr.AGuerra is supported in all his endeavors by his
12
wife, Carmen, and they are blessed with a fine family that includes
13
6 children and 15 grandchildren; and
14
WHEREAS, Texas has benefited greatly from Dario V.AGuerra ’s
15
tireless efforts for the greater good, and he truly merits special
16
commendation
17
therefore, be it

his
hard
work
and
notable
achievements;
now,
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
19
Legislature
20
contributions to the Rio Grande Valley and extend to him sincere
21
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
