L.A. made significant Progress in the past 5 years
•
Regulators have been discussing, proposing and defining guidelines for important
aspects like meters, telecom, tariff structure and dynamic pricing, small scale
renewable generation, despite no official major federal government policy yet in
course in Latin America.
•
At the same time, distribution companies margins have been reduced,
meanwhile service levels requirements (reliability, commercial and losses) and
associated penalties have been significantly upgraded.
•
Important sector changes for reducing tariffs have been recently in Brazil last
year – revenues were significantly reduced, impacting investments - Brazilian
Government launched a specific Program for Modernization – specific Workshop
on November 28th - "Public Policies and Incentives for Infrastructure
Modernization in Brazil".
