REPRESENTATIVE COMMISSION OF THE NATIONAL CONGRESS
July 12, 2007
As determined by Law, members to compose a Representative Commission of the
National Congress are elected to hold Office for the period of the parliamentary recess.
These members are elected by the House of Representatives and by the Senate as
happened this week.
The Representative Commission is composed by 8 Senators and 17 Deputies, with even
numbers of substitutes, elected in both chambers of the National Congress at the
session's last ordinary sitting (July, 11 - House of Representatives and July, 12 – Senate)
in proportion to the number of seats held by parties. The Representative Commission
may adopt some measures in case of an emergency matter, which cannot await the
following parliamentary session to begin, carrying out, without-prejudice, State and
public interests.

Officially, the National Congress begins its recess on July, 18. As matter of fact, ordinary
sessions are not booked in both Plenary Houses on July, 16 and 17.
The National Congress returns its ordinary sessions on August, 1 (Wednesday).
