Diamantino2 1 CIBIO, Centro de Investigação em Biodiversidade e Recursos Genéticos, Universidade do Porto, Campus Agrário de Vairão, 4485-661 Vairão, Portugal − [email protected] 2 Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela, Praça da República, 28; 6270-496 Seia, Portugal − [email protected] Abstract: Interesting Portuguese records are presented for nine beetle species, including two novelties for the country’s fauna: Grynobius planus (Fabricius, 1787) and Ptilinus pectinicornis (Linnaeus, 1758). Key words: Coleoptera, Anobiidae, Grynobius planus, Ptilinus pectinicornis, novelties, interesting records, Portugal. Introduction COMMENTS: New species for the Portuguese fauna and hence first record for Alvão Natural Park. In Spain this species is recorded from the provinces of Cantabria, Guadalajara, Gerona, Guipúzcoa, Huesca, La Coruña, La Rioja, Lérida, Navarra, and Segovia (Español, 1992; López-Colón, 2001; Baselga & Novoa, 2000, 2004; De La Rosa et al., 2005; Martínez de Murguía et al., 2007; Pérez-Moreno & Moreno-Grijalba, 2009). The present paper is the sixth contribution dealing with the Portuguese fauna of Coleoptera and as the previous papers (Grosso-Silva, 1999, 2002, 2005b, 2007; Grosso-Silva & Serrano, 2000) it aims to present interesting records of beetles collected in continental Portugal. Distributional comments refer only to the Portuguese knowledge concerning each species (with municipality and UTM coordinates presented for previously known localities), except in the case of new records for the country. Unless otherwise stated, the specimens studied were collected by the authors and are deposited in the senior author’s personal collection. Several species are recorded from Alvão Natural Park (abbreviated as PNAlv, from the Portuguese “Parque Natural do Alvão”) and one from Serra da Estrela Natural Park (PNSE, from the Portuguese “Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela”). ● Ptilinus pectinicornis (Linnaeus, 1758) MATERIAL EXAMINED: Mealhada: Mata Nacional do Buçaco (southeastern part) (29TNE5369), 02-07-2006 (2 ♂, Grosso-Silva & Alonso Zarazaga leg., coll. CIBIO-UP). COMMENTS: New species for the Portuguese fauna. In Spain this species is recorded from the provinces of Huesca, La Rioja, Navarra, and Segovia (Español, 1992; Murria Beltrán et al., 2003; De La Rosa et al., 2005; Pérez-Moreno & Moreno-Grijalba, 2009). Attelabidae Billberg, 1820 ● Apoderus coryli (Linnaeus, 1758) MATERIAL EXAMINED: Mondim de Basto: Ribeira de Fervença, northeast of Ermelo (29TNF9480) (PNAlv), 27-07-2002 (1). COMMENTS: Second Portuguese record and first for Alvão Natural Park; previously only recorded from Anta (Sabrosa, 29TPF16) by Barros (1896). Despite being from a nearby area in the country, the present record is particularly interesting on account of the absence of data for this species in Portugal throughout the whole 20th century. Results Acanthocnemidae Crowson, 1964 ● Acanthocnemus nigricans (Hope, 1845) MATERIAL EXAMINED: Boticas: Beça (29TPG01), 29-07-1999 (1, Ernestino Maravalhas leg.). COMMENTS: Third Portuguese locality; previously recorded from Anta (Sabrosa, 29TPF16) (Barros, 1913; Fuente, 1931) and very recently from Quinta do Fragusto (Guarda, 29TPE3377) (GrossoSilva, 2005a). TOPONYMIC NOTE: Regarding the first Portuguese locality mentioned, a clarification is needed: “Anta” (the name presented by Barros and Fuente) is not an abbreviation or simplification of S. Martinho de Anta as supposed by Alonso Zarazaga et al. (2003) (who wrote “[São Martinho de] Anta” when citing Fuente’s work) but a small village located roughly 2 km to the northwest of S. Martinho de Anta proper. Bothrideridae Erichson, 1845 ● Bothrideres interstitialis Heyden, 1870 MATERIAL EXAMINED: Vila Real: To the northeast of Barragem Cimeira (29TPF0179) (PNAlv), 12-05-2001 (1). COMMENTS: Fourth Portuguese site and first record for Alvão Natural Park. Previously recorded from Gerês (Terras de Bouro, 29TNG62) (Heyden, 1870; Oliveira, 1893; Fuente, 1928), from Barracão (Moimenta da Beira, 29TPF0940) (Mendes, 1959) and from Herdade da Ribeira Abaixo (Grândola, 29SNC31) (GrossoSilva & Serrano, 2000). Anobiidae Fleming, 1821 ● Grynobius planus (Fabricius, 1787) MATERIAL EXAMINED: Vila Real: Ribeira do Arnal, north of Galegos da Serra (29TPF0076) (PNAlv), 27-05-2001 (1 ♀). Cantharidae Imhoff, 1856 (1815) ● Rhagonycha (Rhagonycha) martini Pic, 1908 MATERIAL EXAMINED: Manteigas: Mata do Fragusto (29TPE3175) 279 DAHLGREN, G. 1972.
