Please be in prayer for our team: Mark Schroeder—team leader Mark Laurence, Chris Schneider, Debbie Kovar, Liz Dismuke and Crystal Pearson Library News From the desk of Dr. Matt Hudson The Other Santa Not many know this, but there is another Santa. No beard, no red suit. Forget the reindeer, the North Pole, and the elves. And yes, forget the “presents for all the good boys and girls.” The other Santa was a woman who lived in China. Her last name, Moon, this may conjure images of an oriental sect. She was actually born in Viewmont, Virginia in 1840. At 33 years old she responded to a call to mission service with the passion, “The fields are white for harvest.” China was her field and spreading God’s grace was her gift. She was single, endured famine with the Chinese, hardships and loneliness, and gave away her food to the point it cost her life. She died on Christmas Eve 1912. With the burden of the enormous work, she pleaded with the women of the South to send more missionaries. The result was the first Christmas offering which provided the gift of three more workers in China. By the time you read this, Thanksgiving will be over and Christmas is on every ones mind. How did it get here so quickly? Ruby and I have been working to get some new books, (children and adult material) on the shelves in your library. I hope you will stop by and take a look and see "the new stuff" as well as some of the classics. New is great, but the older stuff really never gets old. Do you need your spirit lifted or maybe just looking for some easy reading in your spare time? I know you are smiling at that statement : ). But a good book and a little quiet time does wonders for lifting our spirit. Do you believe in angels? We have some very good writers’ material on Angels. Yes, I do believe in angels. There are numerous books and a few DVD’s with Christmas subject matter. We will leave the light on and be looking for you. May you have a blessed Christmas Holiday. Your Library Staff Ruby and Laura The tradition she began continues on in our church as we take up a mission offering named after the other Santa—The Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Unlike Santa, this offering provides for basic needs like water wells, food for poor, global disaster relief, and hospitals. It also enables us to send more Things are really happening at the Connection of Hutto! We had a great month of November, averaging 25 in our home church workers to the fields in other countries. Hutto Church Plant News meeting, with a high of 31. We have around 5,000 missionaries around the world. As you give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, you help send and support these folks who are doing more than just brining a present once a year. You help empower them for every day impacts in almost every part of this world. At the time of this writing, we are moving towards a December 13th (Saturday night) preview service in Hutto, although the location is still uncertain. As of the first week in December, our church will leave meeting in Taylor behind, and will move to Hutto permanently. We are still on track for a launch date of Saturday night, January 31, 2015. Thanks for your gifts! Please be in prayer for us, as we grow, that we stay firmly on the path that God has for us! Have a blessed holiday season in the Lord! In Christ, Bro.
