RESUMO Este trabalho é um estudo etnobotânico realizado na Comunidade Vila Princesa em Porto Velho-RO, formada por pessoas carentes que tem como meio de subsistência a reciclagem do lixo. Além disso, a comunidade é formada por aproximadamente 85 famílias, que possuem conhecimentos valiosos em relação ao uso e manejo de plantas medicinais e afirmam, em sua maioria, que o conhecimento foi adquirido de geração em geração, constituindo um importante objeto de pesquisas sobre plantas com usos terapêuticos. Com isso, este trabalho teve como objetivo resgatar o conhecimento tradicional relativo às plantas de uso medicinal junto à Comunidade Vila Princesa. A pesquisa foi realizada pela aplicação de questionários estruturados com perguntas abertas e fechadas, no período de Março a Junho de 2009, sempre respeitando a opinião de cada entrevistado. Foram registradas 68 espécies consideradas medicinais, na qual, as famílias mais citadas foram: Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae, Leguminosae e Myrtaceae. As espécies mais utilizadas foram Plectranthus amboinicus L., Bryophyllum calycinum S., Vernonia condensata B., Arrabidaea chica L., Ruta graveolens R., Cymbopogon citratus (D.C.) Stapf., Melissa officinalis L. e Anacardium occidentale. Entre as mais citadas, a indicação terapêutica, na grande maioria, destina-se ao tratamento da gripe, seguido de problemas no trato intestinal, inflamações, problemas de fígado e febres. Os dados obtidos na Comunidade Vila Princesa demonstram que a mesma é detentora de um conhecimento rico sobre a flora medicinal da localidade e revela também a diversidade botânica existente. O conhecimento sobre plantas medicinais simboliza muitas vezes o único recurso terapêutico de muitas comunidades e grupos étnicos. Palavras-chave: Plantas medicinais. Etnobotânica. Comunidade Vila Princesa ABSTRACT This work is a etnobotânico study carried through in the Community Village Princess in Old Port, formed for devoid people who have as half of subsistence the recycling of the garbage. Moreover, the community is formed by approximately 85 families, who possess valuable knowledge in relation to the use and handling of medicinal plants and affirm, in its majority, that the knowledge was acquired of generation in generation, constituting an important object of research on plants with therapeutical uses. With this, this work had as objective to rescue relative the traditional knowledge to the plants of medicinal use next to the Community Village Princess. The research was carried through by the application of questionnaires structuralized with open and closed questions, in the period of March the June of 2009, always respecting the opinion of each interviewed. They had been registered 68 considered species medicinal, in which, the cited families more had been: Lamiaceae, Asteraceae, Euphorbiaceae, Leguminosae and Myrtaceae. It enters the most cited, the therapeutical indication, in the great majority, destines it the treatment of the grippe, followed of problems in the intestinal treatment, inflammations, problems of liver and fevers. The data gotten in the Community Village Princess demonstrate that the same one is detainer of a rich knowledge on the medicinal flora of the locality and also discloses botanical the diversity existing. The knowledge on medicinal plants symbolizes many times the only therapeutical resource of many communities and ethnic groups. Key-words: Medicinal plants, Ethnobotany, Princess Town Community
