Silvana Andréa Molina Lima Resumo A população brasileira está cada vez mais velha, motivada pela diminuição da mortalidade e diminuição da fecundidade. A OMS definiu população idosa a partir de 60 anos de idade para os países em desenvolvimento, no caso do Brasil. Em 2000 o número de idosos em nosso País era de 14,5 milhões de pessoas. As projeções apontam o Brasil como sexto país em número de idosos, com a estimativa de 33,4 milhões de pessoas para 2025. O presente estudo tem como objetivos uma visão do envelhecimento populacional, situando no processo de envelhecimento o idoso do sexo masculino, identificando as doenças decorrentes desse processo, as ações propostas pela OMS com o Envelhecimento Ativo e os problemas enfrentados por ocasião de sua aposentadoria. Realizamos uma revisão de literatura dos últimos dez anos, enfocando o idoso no Brasil, as ações para Envelhecimento Ativo, as doenças mais comuns na fase do envelhecimento, a aposentadoria e a ociosidade. A Política Nacional do Idoso criou normas para os direitos sociais dos idosos, garantindo autonomia, integração e participação efetiva como instrumento de cidadania. A sociedade civil brasileira tem tido papel fundamental na reivindicação dos direitos sociais, construção e na efetivação das políticas públicas voltadas à população idosa, assim como a ações do Serviço Social do Comércio (SESC), Universidade Aberta à Terceira Idade, Pastoral da Terceira Idade da Conferência Nacional dos Bispos do Brasil (CNBB). Pode-ser concluir que o fator envelhecimento não é uma condição limitante na vida do idoso, porém, conhecendo as ações e programas instituídos especificamente para essa população, o indivíduo poderá usufruir de uma vida plena com saúde, segurança e participação ativa na vida econômica, social, cultural e política na sociedade em que vive. The Brazilian population is each older time, motivated for the reduction of the mortality and reduction of the fecundities. The OMS defined aged population from the 60 years of age for the developing countries, in the case of Brazil. In 2000 the number of aged in our Country was of 14,5 million people. The present study it has as objective a vision of the population aging, pointing out in aging the process the aged one of the masculine sex, identifying the decurrently illnesses of this process, the actions proposals for the OMS with the Active Aging and the problems faced for occasion of its retirement. A revision of literature of last the ten years was carried through, focusing the aged one in Brazil, the actions for Active Aging, the illnesses most common in the phase of the aging, the retirement and the idleness. The National Politics of the Aged one created norms for the social rights of the ages ones, guaranteeing autonomy, integration and participation accomplish as citizenship instrument. The Brazilian civil society has had basic paper in the claim of the social rights, construction and in the effectuation of the public politics come back to the aged population, as well as the action of the Social Service of Commerce (SESC), Open university to the Third Age, Pastoral of the Third Age of the National Conference of the Bishops of Brazil (CNBB). The factor can be concluded that aging is not a limitation condition in the life of the aged one, however, knowing the actions and programs instituted specifically for this population, the individual will be able to usufruct of a full life with health, security and active participation in the economic life, social, cultural and politics in the society where it lives.
