REGULATIONS FOR AWARDING THE “FEP EXCELLENCE GRANT” SCHOLARSHIP
FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/14
Article 1 | Scope
1.
These Regulations apply to the award of the “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship
established by the School of Economics and Management, University of Porto and the
Manuel Violante Foundation under the FEP International Masters Degrees taught in
English: Master in Finance and Master in Management.
Article 2 | Objective
1.
The “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship is intended for high-potential applicants with
demonstrated results in terms of academic and extracurricular performance, to support
academic qualification under the FEP International Masters Degrees mentioned above.
Article 3 | Scholarship
1.
The “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship is worth € 7,500.00 (€ 750.00 per month for 10
months) plus the annual fee for the Master’s Degree.
2.
Two scholarships will be awarded: one to an applicant for a Masters in Finance and
another to an applicant for a Masters in Management.
3.
If the student withdraws before completing the Master programme, they must reimburse
the amount received and lose the right to the remaining amount of the “FEP Excellence
Grant” Scholarship.
4.
The “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship may be withdrawn if the student shows low
academic achievement.
Article 4 | Applications
1.
Opening of applications will be announced through the means of dissemination available
to FEP.
2.
Applications for the “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship will be accepted from 25 March to
26 April 2013.
3.
All applicants who are eligible for FEP's International Masters Degrees taught in English
may apply for the “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship: Master in Management and Master
in Finance, as part of applications for the academic year 2013/14.
4.
An application is considered valid when accompanied by the following documents:
a. A completed application form for the “FEP Excellence Grant" Scholarship, available
from the International Student Office of FEP Post-Graduate Academic Services or
available on http://www.fep.up.pt/servicos/sereia/fepexcellencegrant2013;
b. Curriculum Vitae;
c. Details of academic performance, showing the marks obtained in all undergraduate
disciplines*;
d. Documentation with details and evidence of extracurricular activities undertaken
and/or awards/distinctions obtained;
e. Additional documentation that the applicant may consider relevant;
*applicants who graduated in FEP will be exempt from presenting this information.
Article 5 | Composition of the selection panel
1.
The selection panel for the FEP Excellence Grant Scholarship is composed of 5 members:
the Dean of FEP, João F. Proença; the Director of the Master in Management, João
Ribeiro; the Director of the Master in Finance, Paulo Pereira; the Coordinator of the
External Relations and Academic Integration Office, Sofia Veiga; and the representative of
the Manuel Violante Foundation, José Nogueira da Silva.
Article 6 | Evaluation
1.
The award of the prize is based on the quality of the applicant’s academic and
extracurricular performance.
2.
In assessing applications, the selection panel considers the following factors:
a. Academic performance
b. Participation in extracurricular activities
c. Awards and distinctions obtained
3.
After examining the applications, the selection panel may decide to hold interviews with
some or all of the applicants as a supplementary means of evaluation.
4.
The selection panel reserves the right to select only those applicants who meet the
requirements of distinction considered essential and demonstrate the required quality,
and may decide not to award the Scholarship if it considers that no applicant meets the
quality requirements or finds that the rules of this Regulation have not been observed.
5.
The decisions of the selection panel are final and are not subject to appeal or complaint.
Article 7 | Results
1.
The results will be announced on 26 May 2013.
Article 8 | Omissions
1.
Any situations not provided for in these Regulations shall be decided by the selection
panel and the FEP Executive Board.
